(CNN) - White House Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton issued the following statement Sunday:
At around 6:00 a.m. Hawaii Time, the President received an update from his Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Advisor John Brennan and National Security Staff chief of staff Denis McDonough on the latest information regarding the investigation into the incident on Flight 253, the security measures being taken to keep the traveling public safe, the most recent intelligence regarding that incident as well as on the reviews the President ordered into watch lists and detection capabilities. The President will continue to receive intelligence updates and monitor the situation closely throughout the day.
This flight didn't originate on U.S. soil and it would be foolish of the Obama administration to react foolish.
ThinkAgain: To ask the right wing nuts to grow up, although a nice idea, is expecting way too much. Remember loons, at this time in Bush's presidency, the US had experienced the WORST terror attack on American soil. And he continued to read MY PET GOAT.
Republicans hate Obama because he's going to be re-elected. And as usual they are on the wrong side of history.
Oh, the double-standards here are amazing. If Bush were still in office, the liberal posters on this board would be the first to place blame at the top, him. Now, they come to Obama's defense.
To the guy talking about "paid, right-wing bloggers" without posting any proof of your accusation, you could just as easily say that you are a paid left-wing blogger.
They are trying to give him briefings on the golf course between holes...And photo ops with his wife directing everything...It is tough to really get this guys attention if it does not involve a photo op or a teleprompter..Or him riding in AF-1.. Obama was one big mistake America..And we will pay for it....
This is why all Americans need to vote Republican in 2010 and 2012. The liberal democrats are way to soft on issues like terrorism, health care, the economy. Vote to change the change you voted for.
The right wingnut minority will seize on anything and everything to further their evil cause.
The American public has no patience with anything and will listen to the person who yells the laudest. That is our way.
"Why don't you take the fight to the enemy? Or would that offend your masters in Asia and the Middle East?"
Umm, the guy was from Nigeria, which is in Africa. If you're so stupid you don't know this, perhaps you should stop posting here rather than confirming your idiocy to the world.
Dar-
Perhaps your time would be better spent brushing up on spelling and grammar skills? Stupid is as stupid does. Better yet, why don't you go enlist and go fight those "musilums"? Are are you too much of a candy ass to put your money where your mouth is?
When I think of a conservative. I think first. Wow do you realize how low your IQ is. Do you realize how much information you lack. Do you realize how poor your logic is. I guess call me an elitist or an intellectual. The shoe does kind of fit. I will call you a simpleton.
As Dylan said, "I wish that for just one time, you could step inside my shoes. You would see what a drag it is to see you"
We need to understand the mindset of this guy. We need to be more compassionate and find the reasons for his actions. If America was little bit humble, he would never done it. Right, my dear liberal friends? Give me a break.
How is this Obama's fault? If I recall, a much bigger and worse terror attack occurred during GWB's term.
The problem is that we and everyone else around the world are always in REACTIVE mode instead of PROACTIVE mode when it comes to security.
Before shoe bomber – shoes are fine. After shoe bomber, take off shoes.
Before liquid explosive threat – all liquids fine on board, After, ban on liquids followed by limited quantites.
We need intelligence people who can think like terrorists and anticipate how they might attack us next, not wait for the next new attack and then suddenly target increased security on that one type of attack.
We need the full body imaging devices. Who cares what the ACLU says. National security on airplanes is more important than people worrying about someone seeing a computerized depiction of their private parts. If it bothers you that much, then don't fly.
Ask not what your President can do for you, but what you can do for yourself. It's not up to the POTUS to tell everyone and especially Repugs when and where he is going to pass gas. You do too much, people complain. You do too little, people complain. Oh i'm sorry, I forgot that we are americans and genetically inclined to complain.
The Ft Hood killer and the man on the flight christmas day were both put on lists in 2007 and 2008.
Hmmmmm
What does he know about terrorism. This guy was a community organizer.
didn't people complain that the last guy in charge was too busy reading to kids rather than immediately responding to an attack. obama's playing golf on vacation (who paid for that?) while his staff are ever vigilant. and now, we are OK with that.
"How refreshing this administrations approach. Rather than get all in a tizzy and start issuing color coded terror alerts and slamming fists and gnashing teeth, we get silence. We do know that the incident is being investigated.
It's nice to see an administration doing their job rather than politicizing an isolated event."
GP- your are just kidding, right?
"The rightwing republican jihadists could be behind it to get votes and sell more gold."
And that is responsible, how?
