(CNN) - Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton has announced President Obama will make a statement addressing the attempted terrorist attack on Christmas Day.

The president's statement is expected around 10:00 a.m. HST, 3:00 p.m. EST.

More details from Burton:

"This morning, soon after 10:00 a.m. HST, the President will address the public on the attempted terrorist attack on Christmas Day. He will describe the immediate steps the government has taken to ensure the safety of the traveling public. He will detail the two reviews he has ordered on the watch-list and on our detection capabilities because he believes it is critical we learn from this incident and take the necessary measures to prevent future acts of terrorism And he will reference the fact that we need to keep up the pressure on those who would attack our country. The President will also address the outbreak of violence and protests in Iran over the last several days. "

Maybe we can see a miracle, and this man will wake up from his deep sleep. But somehow I doubt it. We will likely see nothing more than words, and the usual inaction.

The very first thing out of our sorry excuse for a president's mouth should be to Janet Napolitano...."YOUR FIRED"

Perhaps the phrase "war on terror" will be returned to the White House lexicon, since that's exactly what it is.

Anyone notice that the terrorist was charged, not as a terrorist combatant, but with a federal criminal felony of attempting to destroy an airplane? That means a right to an attorney, Miranda warnings, indictments, access to discovery, trial by jury, etc. GWB would have shipped this terrorist off to Gitmo on December 26th. Say what you want about GWB (and I'm sure you will), but if you were a terrorist he was one dude you didn't want to cross.

More WAR, WAR, WAr. We must protect the American people from the FEAR that we unleash with our own Global Terror-Making! We have massively untreated addictions to Empire and Money in the form of Contractors who profit handsomely from such Adventures. President Obama was chosen chiefly because he would not Buck this policy of Capitalist Global Expansion. No President dare take such actions at this time if they know who really runs this Country! it is just the silly Teapartiers and other ignore-ant ones who think otherwise!

Yes, taking away pillows and having nothing in your lap for the last hour of flight is really smart. Then not using the bathroom for the last hour is real ingenuity. Obviously, people in DC need to get a life and travel with children. Talk about dumb and dumber responses.

How are those ideas going to prevent a bomb from getting on board a plane? This is why I hate to fly and being on an island makes it that much harder. I want sensible rules, not these knee jerk responses that do not prevent anything but cause inconveniences for families. I hope Obama rescinds these ideas and people use common sense when trying to travel.

Why is President Obama breaking his well earned and often delayed vacation to give a speech Vice President Biden, or Secretary of State Clinton, or U.S. Attorney General Holder should be doing?

Sorry to pull you and your teleprompter away from your golf game, Mr. President, but we've had an attempted terrorist attack three days ago.

Great attitude !!! No fear mongering ... unfortunately we're going to live with this threat until evrything is calm in the middle east, after we leave from all those nations that we're never supposed to INVADE. That's the Dubbya / Lord Vader legacy !!!

Dick Cheney and Co. need to stop wishing for a terroist attack on the U. S. in attempt to try to prove a point, This President is doing all he can along with his Administration to keep America safe, now i know some of you naysayers dont like that he is in charge as President but thats just the way it is like it or not so as i said before We need to come together and PRAY for our President and the U.S. and Our Troops because we are all in this together if you think otherwise then you are on the terroist side.

What a confliction. Do I stand up for or at least ignore the Muslim aggressors or do I act like I want to protect America?

That's Obama's answer to everything, I will just go on tv and make a speech and all will be well in the world. Remember when 9\11 happened liberals were blaming bush because he knew that those people hated America and would do what they can to hurt it. Well where are you now? Why are you not calling for Obama to be impeached and thrown in jail like you did with bush?
Obama was warned about this guy and he was warned about the fort hood shooter and what did he do? Nothing, Even when one of the people was right under his finger. No he just let those good young American boys and girls die. What happened to the left that was trying to lock up bush? Where are you now?

The GOP and the media want our President to speak- why because they have nothing else to report on the near disaster? Then they can fuss and clobber everything he says. We are such a mean spirited American society toward each other even as others attempt to attack. If he does not return the coversation in the framework President Cheney[Bush ]set forth than our current President is not protecting our country correctly- so the GOP will say. Can we come together on anything?

We've got to make sure airports overseas, are just as vigilant in fighting terrorism as the TSA in America is..........
This guy boarded the plane in Africa, and changed planes in New Amsterdam.......
America, and it's citizens are fighting terrorism.......can the world join in?

Gee, is he actually going to spare the American people a few moments of his time between working out and his golf games? I hope he announces how he is so sorry for Napolitano and her foolish statements re how the system worked.

Gee, thanks for putting your lavish getaway on hold for a few minutes to do your job. What a joke. President Obama and his Homeland Security Secretary are both proving themselves to be as incompetent and unqualified as their critics have claimed them to be. This is what we get for being idealistic when electing our leaders. Thanks a lot independents and democrats.

P.S. Maybe the Obama clan may want to vacation a bit less while we are suffering a 10 percent unemployment rate nationwide. Vacationing in Hawaii and calling the bankers fat cats in the same month doesn’t jive with me.

I am glad that President Obama, is already reviewing our screening processes, already reviewing the "watch list".

We also need to get the NSA, CIA & FBI to educate Homeland Security on every possible form of explosive, gas or chemical weapon known to man.

I am grateful, for the Dutch passenger who noticed that there was something wrong.

ALL of us need to be vigilant.

I gave President Obama credit for ALREADY targeting terrorists strongholds in Yemen.

If he's so concerned have him get his tail back to the Whitehouse and be presidential . Besides, he had a vacation in Colorado, Paris, London, and I'm sure his children went with along with his mother -in-law, though I could be incorrect. It's time that CNN, NBC, ABC stand up and quit covering up and looking the other way when it comes to Obama.

We are doing everything we can says Obama. Just another pack of lies by a person who cannot lead, cannot be trusted with your safety and cannot stop from being in another photo op.

Obama you are as stupid as a piece of paper, its not that we are doing everything, its that you are doing NOTHING.

Its pretty simple, secure our borders, when we are threatened, respond with force, if you want to kill a snake, you cut its head off, you dont sit, talk about it and make idle chit chat and say we are doing everything. Terroist use threats and scare tactics to prey on the people, maybe just maybe we should start playing the same game and quit talking.

Obama its time you manned up and saw the light, quit turning your back on America. Are you an American or muslim

Come on, didn't you say they weren't terrorists, they were "enemy combatants"? Why don't we just give him a parking ticket and send him on his way, or is that just TOO tolerant?
