[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/09/18/art.rove.gi.jpg caption="Rove has some New Year's resolutions for Obama."](CNN) - If President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, or other members of the administration are having any trouble coming up with some New Year's resolutions for 2010, former top Bush aide Karl Rove is eager to help.
Writing in his weekly Wall Street Journal column Thursday, Rove offers a bevy of goals to the president himself, the vice president, and his top aides.
To the president - Rove says Obama needs to be more clear in what he is thinking - ensuring he doesn't leave a diverse group of people with the impression the president agrees with all of them - and must make sure to "mean what he says:"
Mr. Obama should work on his habit of leaving a room of people with deeply divided opinions thinking he agrees with all of them. That leads to disagreements over essential issues, like the meaning of his pledge to begin withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2011 and the nature of the new military mission there.
To the vice president - Rove says Biden should speak publicly less:
Every time he opens his mouth, the West Wing staff uses him to make the president look good by comparison.
To the president's staff - Rove says they should resolve to orchestrate a few less 'historic moments' and keep the president off TV more.
Why not resolve to have a few less "historic" moments? How many can one president really have, anyway? A little more grace toward his predecessor would help him, as would less TV time. He is wearing out his welcome and his speechwriters—judging by the quality of their work lately.
To White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers - Rove says she needs to keep an eye on those guest lists:
[She] should take a lead from Santa Clause and make her list and check it twice . . . at the White House gates.
A great New Years resolutions for Obama would to become a leader. His community organizer skills just aren't cutting it.
As if this man has any credibility!!
Karl Rove giving advice to anyone is like Satan doing the same...you know he doesn't have you're best interest in mind.
Hey Rove,
You wear out your welcome everytime you show your face!
Go hunting with Cheney for News Year!
I guess when your left with a bunch of crap, you have more historic moments to present.
Resolution for Karl Rove: Stop being so pointless.
Losing that quintuplet chin wouldnt hurt either
Shouldn't he be in court or something at this time. Why is rover giving any type of statement. rover is so irrelavant i'm very ashamed of him.
WHAT does this idiot know as the whole Bush administration screwed the country up that is going to take years to get back on track. If you listen to Rowe and Cheney you thought they did nothing wrong.. They need to go in exile someplace like Russia.
Giving this scum bag a platform to spew his venom is why CNN is crawling to the bottom along with Faux Noose
Karl Rove is a sexy, sexy man.
Love him or hate him, the guy got Bush re-elected in 04', he's a political junkie genius. Creepy, but I would have him on my advisory team.
who asked him? Last time I checked...he screwed things up..who needs his advice
hey karl, maybe you could give OB some marriage advice too – that seems to be working out well for you. btw, who should really listen to you? look what happened to the last guy you gave this kinda advice to...why don't you go open a church somewhere and become an evangelical fund raiser – i think that would be more suited to you.
I love how the Republicans, especially those of the previous administration, are so ready offer up their advice...yet, they were so good at ignoring it when they were in office. Typical from the party of poor losers.
Re: Obama's maddening tendency to agree with everyone, Rove hit the nail on the head. Whether you're a liberal, a conservative, or somewhere in between, you can't help but wish that the president would occasionally take a principled stand and then stick to it. At least we'd know where he was coming from. Wouldn't that be reassuring?
Rush gets to celebrate New Years in a hospital. God does indeed work in mysterious, obtuse and sometimes ironic ways.
Maybe he should make a resolution to tone done the hate-meter a notch or two.
Maybe Karl should work on his owned failed marriage before he tries to offer advice to others.
A little dieting might help as well.
This is the same Karl Rove who organized a national campaign to "protect" marriage from homosexuals, then took advantage of a lenient no-fault divorce law in Texas to dump wife #2, right?
Wow, who cares what Rove has to say about anything? Didn't he leave the Bush Administration in 2005? Good riddance, Mr. Sanctity of Marriage. What tripe, what a blowhard.
Why doesn't Rove and Cheney go back under their rocks
and never get anymore TV time.
Why would anyone read anything by this dishonest, vicious little turd? I didn't. All you need to know is that Rove wrote it to know that it's a manipulative lie from a trained dog barking at the end of the Greedy Old Pr!ck Party's leash.
I'm sure Obama knows exactly what Rove's "advice" is worth...
Why does Rove always look like he needs to take a dump, or is in the process of doing so? I think it's a valid question for this forum to consider.
I wish Carl Rove had included Ex V. P Dick Chenny in the people he wants to advise, as one who 'should zip up' in 2010.
Karl should concentrate on his own his OWN New Years resolutions.
What Rove really wants: That Obama fail miserably at everything he attempts, that the country fail and people suffer so Republicans can take advantage of them. Happy New Years from the Republican Party.
