Intel officer: CIA officers' deaths will be avenged

Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) - An American intelligence official vowed Thursday that the United States would avenge a suspected terrorist attack on a U.S. base in Afghanistan that resulted in the deaths of seven CIA officers.

Two of those killed were contractors with private security firm Xe, formerly known as Blackwater, a former intelligence official told CNN. The CIA considers contractors to be officers.

A current intelligence official confirmed that the casualties included a mix of people - CIA staff and contractors. Six others were wounded.

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack, which occurred on Wednesday.

Just because we started a phony War in order to install a puppet government, which has never worked throughout the history of the World, that doesn't give anyone the right to kill our agents.

These murders would not have happened without the encouragement of Obama. His failure to condemn Islamic terror only emboldens these murderers. Perhaps this Obama's goal.

Go Get'em USA. CIA do your stuff, take out the Taliban...we won't even have to go to war if the government would just let the CIA loose.

Really and what form does that revenge take. Torture, killings without due process. Excuse me but wasn't it the CIA that dropped the ball with the info they had on the UNDERWEAR BOMBER? Didn't they have XE securing them on that base in Afghanistan. Have the chickens come home to roost! The CIA is clueless and that is the problem and we, therefore, are in deep doo doo because they are or should be our first line of defense. YIKES

The CIA is supposed to be an elite organization but these deaths were brought about complete stupid actions on their parts. With all that has happened it was a completely reckless act to allow a possible informant on a military base for his first visit without screening him for weapons. While not all Afghani's are part of the Taliban they are still susceptible to threats to life and limb by the Taliban and other insurgent groups.

I don't think this President will allow any American's life to be avenged.

Remember, he isn't very comfortable with the idea of victory, unless you're speaking of his re-election or any legislation resulting in greater debt or servitude to the state.

Death like this is sad and unthinkable but Blackwater or Xe murdered innocent people in Iraq and thought it was ok. I do not see any difference in Xe (blackwater) and the terriost.

CIA is located in McLean, VA. Not Langley. CIA does NOT consider contractors to be officers. They will not have their star carved out on the wall. Get it right, or don't report it. There is no such thing as a CIA post. Contractors are a huge problem at CIA. They are often retired officers pulling their retirement as well as a 6 figure salary and hardly work at all to earn what they are getting paid. They are living in the cold war era and just don't get it. The haven't learned to fight smart yet. Don't let one person's comments speak for the entire agency. Clearly this person has no morals if they are leaking information to the press. The CIA doesn't avenge, they serve the people of the United States and take an oath to protect our constitution. If we as a nation could rely on the DIA to do its job, then the CIA wouldn't need to be in war zones.

you mean blackwater is still in Iraq? but I thought you libs hated blackwater? I thought you hated the verdict just handed down? you mean blackwater is actually increasing their presence as we draw down troop levels? you mean we have a left President and a left Congress and blackwater levels are increasing? but how could that be? that goes against everything you libs stand for, that would make all you libs who cry about blackwater sound stupid and ignorant! how could that be??? I laugh at you ignorant libs go spit on a soldier that's all your good for!

The President or a White House spokesperson will probably scold the Taliban severely in a strongly worded statement, after investigation and a suitable period of consideration.

Why, I wouldn't be surprised if President Obama made a television appearance about this matter.
