I am a Liberal. Preventing people from smoking, drinking, becoming obese, or eating junk food was not my idea of what government was supposed to do.

Unfortunately, human values have given way to accounting values in every part of life. Providing medical care for those who cannot control their behavior is very very expensive. Also, the corporations that produce cigarettes, liquor, junk food, and gas hogs are using all of the skills known to marketing science to persuade people to shove more into their stomachs, drink more, and drive faster. Most Americans believe that advertising has little or no impact on their opinions, and those people are usually the most susceptible victims for marketing campaigns. Every corporation wants to grow and grow, which means putting more product into and onto every American. It also means covering every available surface with advertising.

This is a very good plan. America has to be active and not re-active.

Every new law creates a new criminal. Guilt is by association, when the whole population is declared illegal.

With the Party of NO Republicans and Joe LIEberman itching to kill Mideastern people....nothing gets done. Is the Senate actually necessary?

When is Jill Dougherty going to call PRESIDENT OBAMA, PRESIDENT OBAMA and not Mr. Obama?

New Law for working Americans in 2010: For every dollar you earn, $2 dollars go to Washington in TAXES.
This is how we do things now so everyone can enjoy life equally in Obamaland!

Some of these laws reflect the growing inability of Americans to think for themselves because of an attitude of dependency on the government. Examples are tanning beds and fats used in cooking.
Laws about texting while driving (!) and inflicting tobacco smoke on others in public places similarly reflect a growing lack of willingness to accept personal responsibility as a citizen.
