Clinton Foundation's 2009 donor list revealed

Washington (CNN) - During Hillary Clinton's first year as secretary of state, some foreign governments again gave generously to the foundation of her husband, former President Bill Clinton - but others have not.

Norway gave again last year, with a cumulative total exceeding $10 million, as did Oman, whose total is between $1 and $5 million. But according to the list made public by the Clinton Foundation, other past foreign donors - including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, the Dubai Foundation and Brunei - did not give in 2009.

During Hillary Clinton's confirmation hearings to head the State Department, some lawmakers pressed her on whether she might face a conflict of interest if foreign governments or companies gave to her husband's foundation with an eye toward currying favor with her or influencing American foreign policy.

In the end, the Clintons agreed to make public their donor lists, and to have government ethics lawyers review new donations by foreign governments.

The Clinton Foundation's mission is to fight disease and poverty around the world.

Among companies receiving government bailout money, Bank of America again donated in 2009, but prior donors AIG, Citigroup, General Motors and Freddie Mac did not give in 2009.

One interesting entry on the list: Christopher Ruddy, who wrote some of the most scathing criticisms of Bill and Hillary Clinton in the 1990s on ethics matters, and founded the conservative news agency Newsmax.

Richard Mellon Scaife, who bankrolled some of the Clintons' toughest adversaries in the 1990s, has also given to the Clinton Foundation in the past, but was not listed as a donor for 2009.

SO this is what Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reily threatened Hillary Clinton with exposing daily on their comedy utter lacking in news relevance shows? Donors to help Bill Clinton to fight to fight disease and poverty in the world. Wow that's a stunning disclosure isn't it?

How about Dick (shooter) Cheney's donors? Now that would be a shocker for people that support Democracy in America wouldn't it?

It is people like Baboon-Clark who give you libs a bad name.
I have seen as much compassion, if not more, from conservatives than liberals.

As to William Jefferson Clinton it is obvious he still finds ways to "blow money" in all directions.

He and Hellary are a real pair and they will take your last dime while they smile at you. You get what you deserve. Change anyone?

No strangers to scandal, the Clintons would be better off not accepting money from foreign governments while she is Secretary of State.....the money could be given to other worthy charities anyway.
Public servants need to avoid even the appearance of conflict of interest.

Bank of America paid back their bail-out money in full. So what's wrong with them donating some cash to a worthy organization designed to help people?

Who cares. nobama says 2010 looks brighter. I wonder if that is because he is planning on resigning from the Presidency. That would make 2010 a whole lot brighter.

Former President Bill Clinton doesn't have to work but his foundations are for a good cause. We could all use less time complaining and serve a worthy case other than ourselves.

To all you Rethug attack dogs out there, You are not repulicans let alone americans. Such hate is a sad thing to see, what ever happend to America as a great nation of peace and understanding? Y'all need to turn off fox and Rush for a bit and take in some freash air and listen to other points of veiw from both sides of the fence. We are an open society of free thinkers or last time I checked we are, of course same goes for the far left, y'all need to lighten up as well and both need to look to the middle a little bit and start standing up for the nation as a hole and for its good. All this tit-for-tat fighting is wearing us all a bit thin and maybie it's a time for a good center party to take up the cuase for the 90 persent of middle of america.

    There's still something unsettling about
a foreign nation being able to give funds
to an organization or any entity run by the
spouse of any Secretary of State at ANY
TIME in history. No matter who the Secretary
of State may be. Republican or democrat,
    it just isn't right.

I AGREE! The others are too blinded to see this.

CNN has demonstrated a good balance in its reporting, and in publishing comments from persons with opposing points of view.
Therefore, the criticism that CNN is comparable to FOX News in its conservative bias is unfounded.
Every comment I submit (usually centrist with a strong leaning to the right) is met with many liberal or extremely liberal comments.
    This is fair reporting.
