Gingrich: Obama team favors terrorists' rights over Americans'

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/08/12/newt.0811.gi.jpg caption="Newt Gingrich is standing by his criticism of the Obama administration in the wake of the attempted Christmas Day terror attack"](CNN) - Newt Gingrich is standing by his criticism of the Obama administration in the wake of the attempted Christmas Day terror attack, saying Monday he believes the Justice Department is more concerned with the rights of terrorists than those of Americans.

"I believe what you have is a group of people centered in the Justice Department and the Attorney General, whose law firms all gave pro bono support to terrorism," the former House Speaker told Fox News host Bill O'Reilly Monday. "They start every day with a presumption that the rights of terrorists are more important than the lives of Americans."

An incredulous O'Reilly replied that Gingrich's statement was "impossible to believe" and asked, "Why would any rational person want to extend protections to a terrorist than their own family?"

"You interjected the word 'rational,'" Gingrich responded.

"We are in much greater danger than we were a year ago," he also said. "...We have to confront the fact that this is going to be a much bigger, much harder war than we thought."

In a letter in the conservative magazine Human Events last week, Gingrich said the recent terror attempt highlighted the need "to profile for terrorists and to actively discriminate based on suspicious terrorist information."

"Today, because our elites fear politically incorrect honesty, they believe that it is better to harass the innocent, delay the harmless, and risk the lives of every American than to do the obvious, the effective, and the necessary," Gingrich wrote.

Gingrich is a hateful person born from Nazi German Root and He is a known deceiver when his wife is struck by Cancer laying in a hospital, he was playing sex guitar with his house cook. No one takes his words worthy for he is nothing but bamboo without any human shape.

    9/11 happened on Bush's watch.
Bush failed to profile airline passengers for 8 years in office.
Bush sent Gitmo detainees back to Yemen.
Bush should have sent Ginrich to Yemen. Even O'Reilly knew that Newt was lying.
Saddam wasn't engaging in terrorism against the US, in fact his secular regime did not get along with Al Qaeda, and yet we obsessed on Saddam instead of Al Qaeda, all on Bush's watch.

I guess Gingrich feels we should sink to the level of the terrorists in our treatment of our prisoners. Nothing like the party of Good Christian Values. their hypocrisy never ceases to amaze me.

Hey Newt, why don't you go back to cheating on your wife and being the hypocritical fraud you were when you officially became irrelevant 12 years ago? Bye-bye.....

So, according to former Speaker of the House Newt Gin-grinch, our president is both treasonous and irrational.

    Stay classy, Rs.

Never ceases to amaze me how one wingnut expresses an opinion as fact and more amazingly that other wingnuts accept it as fact because Newt said it is so. When rightwing terrorists were blowing up abortion clinics and killing innocent Americans, where were the repubicans then...at home making bombs I suspect. One of the things that makes the USA a great nation is that our laws apply to everyone no matter how offensive the crime. How can the US ask other countries to respect human rights if we don't practice it at home? Guess we should ask Bush, Chainy and Gingrich about that!

We are not in anymore danger than we were before you & your GOPers were in charge for 8 years....there just was not as many lies being told when you republicans were in charge...you see Newt republicans are much better liars & use the scare tatic much better than we DEMS. You & Cheney need to crawl back under your rock until ground hog day in year 2050, & take the rest of your followers with you. You & your partys radical hypocritical beliefs are a disgrace to this nation...THE GOP was in charge for 8 years, you destroyed our economy, took us too 2 wars one of which was made up by radicals like you, took down the housing & stock market, caused the highest unemployment in many years YET you have the nerve to judge others.

What an Obamanation! I think we will have to embarass Obama in order to get him to start acting in the interests of American safety.

God bless Mr Gingrich for having the courage to stand up and speak the truth.

As for all the liberal whcak jobs still in love with O Blah blah, you need to wake up and decise which is more important – the rights of terrorists hell bent on killing us; or the lives of your children.

I have figured out a way to stop global warming, Just shut the mouths of Gingrich and Cheney, its all that hot air that comes out of their mouths thats causing it. I can't belive this guy, I guess if it was up to him, we'd be at war with Yemen and Iran now too. What an idiot.

–and you are more contented in lying and criticizing Obama than in helping to defend our country. Republicans stop this childish destructive criticism and rally together to defend this country! I am an independent and none of you will ever get my vote unless you change.

Yes Newt-we are in way more danger than we were last year.
Why don't you continue to try to frighten Americans by insinuating that the Obama administration is in cahoots with terrorists. After you are done doing that, why don't you go and see what the death panels are deciding, and visit your elderly relatives before President Obama and Eric Holder pull the plug on them? After that why don't you crawl your treasoness behind under the rock that you live under. Your patriotism matches that of Benedict Arnold. Thanks for the reassuring words-I am beginning to think that the entire Republican Party is in cahoots with terrorists.

President Obama is simply taking the US back from the edge of human rights abusing fascist state we drifted towards during the Bush-Cheney years to a civilized democracy. And I thank him for it.

Why don't these right-wingers have ANY faith in America's system and values? None.

Didn't the Bush administration basically ignore any warnings about 911? Didn't Bush give the relatives of Bin Laden safe passage out of the country that same night? Isn't that putting the safety of the Bin Laden family ahead of the families that lost loved ones in the terrorist attack that day? Newt is conveniently forgetting what his own political party did post 911. He is also using the threat of more terrorists attempts to position himself as a candidate in 2012. Why does the republican party continue to run around saying the sky is falling, using fear for their own political gains? I can just see it now Gingrich/Palin 2012.

Let me get this straight, although I have not seen the CNN report on this yet, Obama's Administration enabled INTERPOL the ability to come into the United States and arrest American citizens surpassing their due process as afforded by our Constitutional rights but refuses to "profile" middle easterners and African's of the Muslim persuasion with regard to our National safety? Man, I am so glad Obama is on our side......

Just when you think stupidity has hit a zenith, you realize that there is always more stupid that can be added to the pile. The only rights that are being abrogated are the rights of the sane by the insane, paranoid and delusional (can anybody say Gingrich, O'Reilly, Beck, Limbaugh)!

I guess to make yourself relevant these days, you just got to scream like a crazy man! It would be so nice if all these "screamers" would actually look to making things better instead of stirring the muddy water up a little more.

Why do all the Republican seem to forget that when Richard Reed tried to execute a plot to blow up a plane, he was convicted in US Federal court and not in a military court? These guys seem to say this stuff for political favor or to excite the less informed!! It would be nice if the media would point out these types of hypocrisies created by the GOP when they are presented to the public!!

Gingrich is an idiot and doesn't have the reputation for being rational himself. He is all about self promotion and only that. Nothing and no one comes before him. Ask his ex-wives if you don't believe it.

We should take the US Constitution and strike out those inconvenient things in the bill of rights that guarantee due process. Then we should go out in the world and tell those baddies out there how they are trampling on human rights and should adopt our democratic ideals. Once they see how we follow our ideals I am sure they will follow. It's worked so well for the last 8 years, so why not?

Sad to say but Newt is right on this one. The dems have installed a real wimp in the White House. Maybe just maybe after this latest attempt by a Muslim terrorist to kill more Americans that obama will grow a real pair between his legs and knock off this Terrorists having the same rights as you and I.
