Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney and the founder of the nonprofit group Keep America Safe, released a statement calling on President Obama to reverse his decision to close the detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, and to overrule the Justice Department's decision to try 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed before a civilian court in New York City.
Cheney also called on President Obama to classify the attempted Christmas Day bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, as an enemy combatant to be tried before a military tribunal.
"President Obama has weakened American security by treating terror as a law enforcement matter, refusing to use every tool at his disposal to prevent attacks, and taking his eye off the ball. America's homeland security and counterterrorism systems will continue to erode in the absence of strong, consistent, unwavering presidential stewardship," said Cheney. "It's time for the President to make defending this nation his top priority."

But Liz, Clinton kept us safe after the WTC bombing in '94 and it was YOUR dad and his puppet that screwed up on 9/11 (and shortly after with Richard Reid the shoe bomber). There is no such as a thing as a "war on terror" because terrorism is a technique. You CAN have a way on Al Queada, and looking at your dad's record (where IS Bin Laden?), you have very little to brag about. You DO however, work very well at creating fear to justify anything you want to do.
But it was OK to try the shoe bomber in a civilian court? And the Bush/Cheney administration had seven years after that to take "sufficient national security steps in the wake of the botched plane bombing." Obviously that didn't happen, since the system hasn't changed in the last year. Cheney is the most blatant hypocrite in the Republican Party, and that's no mean feat. Not to let Obama off the hook for not implementing those changes immediately, especially given all the free time he's had. I mean, it's not like he inherited any other problems from the previous administration.
Great! Why would you even print what Liz Cheney has to say? Giving space to someone who has absolutely no background in national security is akin to printing my comments on nuclear physics. By printing this you give her instant credibility when she has none on her own.
Cheney doesn't seem to realize that he is no longer Vice-president in charge. We know Bush was a puppet and Cheney was actually running things. Cheney is trying to tell Obama how to run things after he and Bush made a big mess of things. They mismanaged two wars and the economy. I didn't hear any critizism from Cheney when Bush handled the shoe bomber the same way Obama is handling the Christmas bomber. The republican hypocracy is galling. Cheney, stop acting like Higho Chavez, you are not vice president for life, now shut up and go hide in shame for what you and Bush did to this country.
