Palin to address alcohol industry event in Las Vegas

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/09/01/art.palinmoney.gi.jpg caption="Palin will speak to the Wine and Liquor Wholesalers of America in April."]Washington (CNN) - Las Vegas and alcohol probably aren't the first two things that come to mind at the mention of Sarah Palin, but the former vice presidential candidate is about to change that.

At least that's according to Craig Wolf, the president and CEO of the Wine and Liquor Wholesalers of America, who announced Tuesday that Palin will keynote the group's annual convention and and expo in Las Vegas in early April.

"Governor Palin is a great supporter of America's free enterprise system and understands that industries like the beverage alcohol industry play a key role in driving our national economy. We're proud and honored to welcome her as a speaker," Wolf said in a statement. "We expect she will share with the convention attendees her analysis of the current political environment and her vision for America's future."

The convention includes a "Wine and Spirits Tasting Competition," which, according to the press release, "secured a spot on the agenda after drawing overwhelming response and favorable feedback during its debut" last year.

An aide to Palin was not immediately available to confirm the WLWA appearance.

The Las Vegas stop comes a few days before Palin is scheduled to address the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, a major gathering of GOP leaders that that in recent years has become an early proving ground for potential presidential candidates.

    Hey Gale – 1/12 5:09 pm ET

She is NOT an office holder. Remember, she gave up her office! Now I wish she would just quietly fade away!

Conservatives like Sarah Palin tend to stop preaching so much about morality when in the vicinity of alcohol bevarage industry lobbyists.

Leave Sarah alone.. Fox doesn't pay her enough so she has to make ends meet. She has a special needs child to take care of.

    Typical right wing hyprocrisy.

I wonder if speaking at this convention is god's will?

Well this should be good! Get Sarah drunk, dress her as a showgirl and put her on stage and then see all her GOP friends come running. They could call it a fact-finding mission. She would be in good company with the other hypocrites in their party!

While John McCain is out still working in politics for the best of the country, this idiot is talking to anyone who will listen. Until she becomes a serious politician maybe CNN should cover more important stories.

What a piece this woman is. How could anyone could ever have thought that she was presidential material I will never know. Please dear Lord keep her away from Vegas. She might decide to stay and then I'd have to give up my yearly trips to the fun city for fear of running into her. I don't travel to Alaska anymore.

What a HUGE relief it is to read so many Truthful comments about the biggest political joke of all time! You have renewed my faith in the sanity of this country!

"Craig Wolf, the president and CEO of the Wine and Liquor Wholesalers of America" is still calling her GOVERNOR PALIN... and not the X-governor, the one who quit! [Idiot] birds of a feather all flock together?

And then there's the "Wine and Spirits Tasting Competition." I expect she will be a good sport and join in...you betcha! Hopefully she will still be hung over for the: "Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, a major gathering of GOP leaders..."

I guess she is either getting a huge fee ( plus expenses) or free booze for her and her family for the rest of her families life.
Either is OK I guess?? ... plus book royalties, and she dont need to be governor of Alaska, with its low salary and ethical restrictions, and front page news every time she shoots and cuts up her own Moose burger, or Tod over fishes his Salmon quota.
And by the way which genius thinks she can be a Presidential candidate in 2012 for the GOP.That is an insult to the intelligence and common sense of most Americans irrespective of political bias!!

Oh noooo...not in MY town. The only reason she'd be coming here is because all the casino owners support Republicans bigtime with huge cash donations; like Adelson from Venetian/Palazzo and Wynn from the Wynn and Encore. That's what this is all about. MONEY, pure and simple.

Ms. Palin will be meeting with Rob Blagojevich in Las Vegas presumably to create their strategy for running in 2012.

The woman is turning me into an alcoholic so I guess she is helping the industry.

I get the DTs all the time and I can't sleep for hours after I see her face. Every time I close my eyes I see Sarah Palin with a polar bear coat shooting bunnies from her porch. Big stogie hangin' out of her great, gaping maw, jagged teeth, moose chili dripping from her chin. Oh GAWD.

I have to quit trying to scare my grandchildren with stories of the Wasilla Drilla. She scares the heck out of me. I need a drink.

Proving once again that Sarah Palin will do ANYTHING for the right price. Thank God she was not elected VP (apparently God agrees how disasterous she would have been).
People who will do anything for money make catastrophic politicians. Look at Bush and Cheney – they invented a war to get at more oil money – and we're still paying the price.

OMG! Palin to speak to the Liquor folks convention? With Alaska having one of, if not the highest rate of alcoholism in the US, is that the most important thing she can address as (former) governor of AK? If she had any real Christian values, she would be addressing the death and destruction that liquor does to AK families. She is is the single most obnoxious self-promoting, self-aggrandizing media hag next to Ann Couter and Rush Limpbaugh. And do NOT criticize her for not knowing about North and South Korea. The poor 15 watt bimbo has yet to learn about South and North Dakota or South and North Carolina. Las Vegas is a good place for her to get even more freaky. John McCain, what the hell were you thinkin'? Palin is such an embarrassment to anyone with an IQ over 40.
