Obama makes plea for Coakley in Massachusetts

(CNN) - President Barack Obama's making a personal pitch for fellow Democrat Martha Coakley in next Tuesday's Senate election in Massachusetts.

The president is putting out e-mail and Web video in support of Coakley, the Massachusetts attorney general, who's running in the special election to serve the final three years of the late Sen. Ted Kennedy's term. The e-mail and video will be sent out Thursday to the Massachusetts distribution list of Organizing for America, the president's political arm at the Democratic National Committee.

"I am supporting Martha Coakley. As your attorney general, she's taken on Wall Street schemes, insurance company abuses, and big polluters," Obama says in the e-mail. "She'll be your voice, and my ally. And she needs your help."

At stake is the Democrats supermajority in the Senate. If Republican state Sen. Scott Brown wins, the Democrats lose their 60 seat filibuster-proof coalition in the chamber, threatening their chances of passing the health care reform bill Obama hopes to sign into law.

A non-partisan poll released this past weekend by The Boston Globe indicated that Coakley held a 15-point advantage over Brown, but other surveys, including several partisan polls, have suggested the race is much closer.

Brown is hoping to become the first Massachusetts Republican to win a U.S. Senate seat since 1972. Independent Joseph Kennedy, a third party candidate who is not related to the late senator, is also in the race.

An endorsement from a guy who only about a third of the country's voters actually like? And who is actively disliked by 53% of us?

A guy who, more and more, is scaring people with his incessant spending?

A guy who's quickly getting famous for back-room deals and his willingness to sell out the American people to help his political friends?

A guy whose far-Left determination is to impose an insanely expensive government health bureaucracy on a country where a majority of the people don't want it?

A guy who thinks it's okay to gut the economy even further and destroy millions of jobs because he's too dumb to have caught on that the whole "climate change" thing has been proven to be a fraud?

That's an endorsement Coakley probably didn't need.

I would not expect him to support an honorable or honest person. There is no such thing in the Democratic party. Eg. Lott resigns, Reid stays. Dems are hypocritcal losers.

Voters in MA doesn't like Patrick Duval, they don't like you also especially your OBAMACARE. Medical insurance of people in MA will fall under the category of CADILLAC, you'd be taxing them to death when they're already taxed all the way to their eyeballs. 52% of voters in MA are independent, they're the one who'll decide who will represent them in the US Senate, not Ted Kennedy or democrat seat; it's the PEOPLE SEAT.

My gut tells me Brown will win in MA; somehow my instinct hasn't failed me yet. I always knew you'd be the winner during primary even when Hillary was ahead of you. I also knew John Kerry will lose against Bush, the same goes with Gore. Voters in MA have wings on their feet, they're very angry, they're not happy voters; their vote will put a brake in corruption committed by Democrat Party – my party. I'm even disappointed, how much more the independent voters!

The fact that Scott Brown has even an outside chance of winning this race shows how angry people really are with Washington. He has promised that he will defeat the health care bill, raise spending against terrorism and cut taxes across the board while balancing the budget. Any rational person knows that just crazy. But in spite of this nonsense he is polling well. When a republican singing the neo-conservative tune polls well in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you know people are very angry. You'd think that the Democrats would get a clue and change course a little. But then again, when you're not listening, it's hard to get the message.

Obama, you can plea all you want for Coakley's campaign, but she's going to lose big time!

The people of Massachusetts - and the rest of America - are fed up with your agenda, along with Reid, Pelosi and the rest of the liberal gang in Washington. We don't want Socialism. We want freedom and liberty.

    Go Scott go!

funny to see the light skinned, well spoken negro (only when he doesnt speak that negro dialect) beg for people to vote. He should try bribery like he did in Nebraska. The anti American Radical Party formerly known as "the Democrats" are doomed. Count on it!!!

I am so glad we voted for the smart guy last time as opposed to electing Grandpa and Ellie May. One can only assume every child would be encouraged to avoid school and go mouse hunting after failing at the flying academy

Enact the Policy to help Everyman (i.e. Main Street!) and Pleading and Begging will not be Necessary! I forgot that so many have adopted Chairman Mao's idea in the "Little Red Book" that it gets done by, "...Any Means Necessary..." Ya'll must have liked this idea! Peace

  11. A True Centrist

As a Massachusetts resident (by the way, that's the correct spelling Martha), this is the first true race I have seen in the state. With that said, I find it very telling that while Scott Brown was in dowtown Boston shaking hands with those passing by, Marth Coakley was in Washington DC at a fundraiser dinner with healthcare lobbyists. Yes, she was collecting money from the same lobbyists she says she is prepared to fight as the junior senator from our state. I also wonder where she has been the past five years when she says there are no terrorists in Afghanistan. Really Martha? I wonder if you could look into the faces of the families that lost loved ones over there and tell them that there are no terrorists. She had this election in the bag and she blew it. Each day that passes, she just opens her mouth and makes it worse. She very well may be the female George Bush.

LOL! yes obama ought to fly to Massachusetts to win support for Coakley like he did to try an win the Olympics for Chicago and his trip to Copenhagen for Global Warming. If obama can't win his obamacare plan with the 60 Senators he got now, he never will.

boy, that's a death sentence....an endorsement from the liberal loon who's thrown us deeper into debt....for decades, weakened our defensive posture throughout the world to the point where Coakley doesn't even know what country the terrorists are in...and this is good? Good for Brown! Coakley's an emptyheaded puppet for Obama and the people of Mass had better wise up and see it. The Kennedy thugs created the great state of Taxachussetts......it'll take a conservative to get it back on track. Following Obama's footsteps will lead this country down the road to loss of freedoms, socialism, and eventually unrest.

Obama: Please vote for Coakley, or else I won't be able to sign this horrible bill full of bribes, new taxes and awful healthcare!

has anyone even read this bill yet? Does anyone even have a count on the amount of bribes and closed door 2 a.m. special deals?

Why isn't anyone bringing up the fact the even Pfizer has donated to the Coakley campaign??!!

Vote these arrogant useless demon-crats OUT!

  24. Vote Scott Brown

Not only is Scott Brown SMARTER and MORE QUALIFIED, but unlike Coakley, he understands that there are terrorists in Afganistan. Obama doesn't care about who would be better for MA, he just wants his garbage healthcare bill passed and needs a stooge to do it. (MA dems changed the laws twice in order to keep a republican out of this position)

MA already has better legislation on healthcare than the Pelosi/Obama/Reid plan. Why downgrade?

No surprise on this one. But the larger question is why Coakley still supports homosexuals rights in spite of all reason and decency.
