New poll lows for Nelson after health care vote

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/08/21/art.nelson.gi.jpg caption="A new poll puts support for Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson below 50 percent in his home state."](CNN) - Sen. Ben Nelson's support in his home state of Nebraska has dipped below 50 percent, according to a new poll which finds a majority of voters there disapprove of the Democratic health care bill the two-term senator supports.

According to a new poll conducted by the Omaha World-Herald, Nelson's job approval rating now stands at 42 percent with a 48 percent disapproval rating. Forty-four percent of those polled also said Nelson's support for the health care reform bill would hurt his chances at re-election 2012 should he decide to run.

Nelson was the last Senate Democrat to sign on to his party's health care bill, and has since been criticized for only agreeing to the bill after winning special concessions from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

The poll found that more than 60 percent of Nebraskans questioned oppose the Senate health care bill.

A majority said they opposed Nelson's vote in favor of the bill, while about 1 in 3 approved of it. Three-quarters of the GOP voters surveyed - but only 22 percent of Democrats - opposed the senator's vote.

Nelson, who served as governor of Nebraska from 1991-1999, has long been a popular figure in the state. He was re-elected in 2006 to his second Senate term with 64 percent of the vote.

The same poll out Monday shows fellow Nebraska Sen. Mike Johanns, a Republican who voted against the health care measure, with a 63 percent approval rating.

The poll surveyed 500 registered voters in Nebraska between Jan. 8-12. It has a sampling error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.

    BTW Nelson IS a Democrat.

There are so many lies being spewed by the right-wing about Healthcare!

America, do you know that 99% of us, are ONE medical crisis away from bankruptcy? The Insurance companies are in it for the money, and the TRUTH is that they can easily deny YOU care and its legal to do so!

If an elected politician goes against the will of those who voted for him, the people will let him know. That is what makes our system function.
Senator Nelson is experiencing that dynamic.
    So is President Obama.
Neither was chosen as "the best man for the job" and given permission to rule us, as if he were a benign dictator, according to his own dream of rebuilding this nation into Utopia–especially if his dream was a Marxist Utopia.

The GOOD change is coming soon.

This is what happens when you sell out! There's no other explanation for what he did. His price was met and his vote bought. He should be ousted from office in 2012.

"Stop being distracted by the unimportant" illustrates the current liberal Democrat philosophy when he states that "A poll of 500 people the poll hardly reflects the will of an entire state." Well, statistically it does and ignoring it because you don't agree with the result is like sticking fingers in your ears and loudly repeating nonsense phrases so you can't hear the other guy taking.

The liberal left can ignore the facts that poll after poll is showing the majority of Americans do not want the current healthcare bills that are full of bribes and carve-outs for special interests but they officials do so at their own risk.

How about this: double the taxes on bleeding heart liberals to pay for health care for the lazy, welfare queens, and illegals; and leave the rest of us alone.

Get a job, pay taxes (not the type where you actually get back more money than you pay in) and actually have some idea how the world rotates and then you can opine. The problem with most on this blog is they don't contribute, just take. No one that works and pays taxes are for socialism.
