New poll shows majorities don't want Palin to run

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/11/30/art.palin.928.jpg caption=" A new survey suggests an overwhelming number of Americans don't want the former Alaska governor to run for president."](CNN) - Sarah Palin attracted huge crowds across the country last fall as she promoted her best-selling memoir, but a new survey suggests an overwhelming number of Americans don't want the former Alaska governor to run for president.

According to a new CBS News poll out Tuesday, 71 percent are against the former Republican vice presidential candidate launching her own bid for the White House in two years while 21 percent are in favor of a potential run.

Broken down by party, 56 percent of Republicans are against a potential Palin presidential campaign while 30 percent are for it. Meanwhile, the vast majority of Democrats, 88 percent, are not in favor of a Palin presidential run.

The survey also finds significantly more people view Palin negatively than positively: 41 percent negative compared to 26 percent positive.

Both those numbers have increased since Palin's high-profile book tour late last year and since becoming a Fox News contributor last week. In November, 38 percent held an unfavorable view of Palin while 23 percent held a positive view of her.

Among Republicans in the latest poll, 43 percent hold a positive view of Palin while 30 percent of independents do. Meanwhile, just under a half of conservatives view Palin favorably while only 16 percent of liberals do.

Meanwhile, a majority of conservatives, 58 percent say Palin should run for president in 2012.

This poll is a referendum on just how significant a minority percentage of our population is retarded. Sure, we can gloat that she's got a fart's chance in a tornado of becoming POTUS, but the reality is, 30% or so who think she should run or be POTUS is way too high...it's pitiful really. Blabber about electing "regular people" is complete idiocy. We should want extraordinary people to lead our country...and she's not that, by any means....other than extraordinarily stupid.

Sarah Palin is an outspoken person. I agree with her thoughts.
I feel that many of the people are worried that if she would run for the Presidential office it would cause to much of a split and divide the party. If she does not run for office we need to keep her out there pointing out and spotting the corruption in government.

Sarah Palin is a joke. She doesn't know how to run a country. She does know, however how to tear down a country, or a forest or a wilderness or how to shoot a moose out of a helicoper or an airplane She's a mighty hunter . She's a fool. She needs to stay home more and take care of her family so that more of them won't be having illegitimate babies. She's written a book, now she should just go away.

If you actually believe that Sarah Palin–at best a somewhat talented parrot–is qualified to be president, then you might as well put your head in the toilet before you flush it...because there's little hope for you

Come on ya' all. Leave this woman alone. She is an outstanding member of the Republican party, with a well thought out platform for the next election. She also has the right solutions for today's social concerns. As a world leader she is capable of resolving the various social concerns using diplomatic means. At least this is what Captain Zertog from the planet Mlip told me while we had tea aboard his mothership.

I am amused and amazed at the relentless SPIN that CNN continues to put on Sarah Palin. You give Obama and the Democrats a PASS on EVERYTHING and you consistently nail Palin every chance you get. This – all from the party and the news outlet that claims it has ALL the new ideas. I'll tell you one thing, just by the mere fact that the Democrats are all so frightened of Governor Palin to the point of these endless attacks, she has my interest. I'll make you a bet – Sarah Palin will definitely be a player in the 2012 elections regardless of how often you try to break her down – any takers??

EYEBALL says: Sarah Palin is going to run and she is going to win in 2012.

I believe that Eyeball is blind to the truth. This women is naive, ill-informed and not very bright. The only plus is that she is knockout gorgeous.

I am a fan of hers somewhat, BUT just like Obambi, SHE HAS NO BUSINESS BEING NEAR THE WH.

You sheep feel better about Obambi or do you RIGHTFULLY have buyers remorse?

    You should.

Sarah Palin running for president would make Obama a shoe in for victory. Right or wrong most of the country views SP as both stupid and unqualified for the position of President of the United States.

She didn't know Africa was a continent. She didn't know there are two Koreas. She couldn't name a newspaper. How can you Palin fans insist with a straight face that this woman has the capability to run a country?

To the people in Alaska you know this all your fault if you had not elected her governor we would not have to listen to all this crap about her. Did you not see what kind of mayor she was should of give you some clue not to vote for her. Yes if any one listens to fox news now they will see what kind of person she is and what she did to this country with her hate rallys she held ands her death panel remarks getting the country all in an uproar. But she fits in so good with that gang at fox news. I bet all the guys on their cant get anough of her.

At the very least we'd like a President who knows that Africa is a continent, not a country, and the reason for there being a North Korea and South Korea. We'd also like a President who can answer one of those "gotcha" questions like what newspapers you read. Stupid Presidents tend to sink our ship, and we're still listing after the last one.

I don't particularly want her to run becaise she will split the Republican ticket. The bigger question is why is this question asked daily by CNN? It's almost as rediculous as the constant claim that Rush Limbaugh is the head of the Republican Party. You might as well be asking if Democrats want Butch Maddow to run in 2012.

I am a Republican and I say, she is mentally challenged - that's all anyone needs to know.

Get this moron out of our party (and send the ignorant fundies out with her)

We need to get back to our Libertarian roots and away from this neo-con stupidity.

Having this as your top blog just proves how meaningful Palin as a Presidential candidate is. I will support Palin all the way to the White House – for she is indeed qualified, intelligent and a proven leader. Unlike what currently resides in the White House.

Why does the media feel so compelled to instill doubt in America's confidence in Palin?

Obama's days of having a free pass are over. The American people are tired of his rhetoric and inablity to accomplish anything. We are not a socialistic society. America was built on the backs of hard working people – not by people with their hands out as if they are owed a home, car and health insurance.

Having seen the movie "Idiocracy" some time ago, I thought it was an amusing prediction of the future of this country. It is with great horror that I now realize it wasn't a prediction of the future, but a documentary about the current state of socio-political affairs in the USA. The more I read the comments of the increasing numbers of slobbering morons in favor of that vapid twit running for national office, the more I think I should plan on moving out of the country before it becomes a reality. Haiti will seem like a paradise in comparison to the result of that outcome.

We are rapidly becoming a nation of gullible lemmings, having abandoned the concept of critical thinking, lapping up the neo-fascist spew of FOX news and their ilk, and it makes me start to think that perhaps there is something to the mythological "end times", which is apparently becoming something richly deserved.

I think Sarah should run. The recent elections have been a travesty and I believe Sarah could bring a little comedy to the GOP side of the election. I know the Dems would love to see her run, she tears the GOP to pieces all by herself.

This lady, Sarah Palin (Dick Cheney with lipstick) has no intention of running for another political office. Her goal now is to make as much money as possible while she continues to support fellow hard core reactionaries like the America hating idiot who may unfortunately win today's Senate race in Massachusetts. To all of you right wing neo-fascists (Republicans) leaving messages here today, you should immediately move to Iran, the country that is the model of the theocratic dictatorship you want to impose on America. You hate America you fascists... GET OUT OF OUR COUNTRY NOW!!!!
