Obama putting finishing touches on speech

(CNN) – Just hours away from what is arguably the most important address of his short time in office, President Obama will huddle with his top speechwriters to go over the latest revisions to his State Of The Union speech, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said. This afternoon, Gibbs added that the president will get behind a podium to practice for his prime time address to the nation.

White House aides said the speech will focus on job creation, helping the middle class, fighting the deficit, and health care reform. But Gibbs said the president will also take responsibility for the climate that left a lot of Americans angry and frustrated, and he will express disappointment at how difficult it is to change the way Washington works.

The teleprompter people better be on their toes. Make sure the screen is nice and clean. Legs properly secured (Don't want one to fall), cables are tight and not tripping hazards.

"Difficult to change the way Washington works". Obama would have understood the difficulty if he actually had worked in the Senate some rather than campaigning the whole time he was in Washington! We need a business person in the White House rather than a community organizer!

I want to hear Pres. Obama tell us he is extending unemployment benefits tonite. My husband is 57 years old with 25 years of management experience and there are no jobs in Pensacola. He applies daily fior several jobs and never gets called for an interview in most cases, and in some cases he gets called for 3 interviews and still doesn't get the job. Pensacola employers must be hiring younger workers. The newspaper weekly advsertises jobs for ages 22 to 35 or 40, and nobody says it because it is illegal, but no one is hiring 57 years old men in our area. I am working 50 hours a week to try to keep our heads above water, but we must rely on churches to help us with food, since my paycheck only covers rent and utilities. Please help us, Pres Obama!!! We who have no children don't get any breaks!!!

It'll just be more lies and smokescreen. Haven't people learned by now?

He has ho credibility. He's a con-artist, whose spell of deceit many are now awakening from - except his enablers here at CNN and MSNBC. Worst President ever - so far. God help us all.

Making sure he's hopped on the populist bandwagon I'm sure. Make sure the puppet keeps the sheep happy.

Finishing touches include "shout outs" that need to be inserted in to the teleprompter.

And then let's watch Bob McDonnell lie on nationwide TV afterward.

To the GOP sissy's and whiners: You will NOT persuade me to live in FEAR! The GOP

I do not know what this poor pres. obama will do for the nation created by huge troubles by idiotic thugs, republicans, and blind GOP stupids. Schools are laying off teachers, substitutes, and no money. States are going bankrupt. No health care insurance on anyone...nation is in deep trouble....banking and visa/master cards need to be regulated thoroughly....jobs need to come back from overseas. Stimulus...? what borrowed money from china...for roads, and bridges??? As long as "INDUSTRIAL SECTOR" DO NOT COME BACK....AMERICA GOES TO DOGS...GOP did this a lot...past is past...better do something in future...wake up pres. obama. we need to have health care for all americans...Republican win does not mean anything...be persistent and win this totally....good luck...pres. obama, we love you....do the best....people know this mess...

More than half of the country doesn't care about his speech, as your poll indicates they are not even watching.

When Gibbs says the president will take responsibility, does he mean he will take responsibility, or just say something half heartedly and make a reference to the last eight years?

I'll listen like i always listen to the President. But I'm not expecting this to be a ground breaking speech. mainly because the White House doesn't have it's own corporate news network to blast his agenda 24 hours a day like the republicans do. I'm never amazed by the power of STUPID people in large numbers. Especially when they are spoon fed misinformation on more than one 24 hour news network.

We're being played against the government. The corporate interests that OWN this country don't want people to know the truth. People love to blame government for everything. but we still elect our leaders in this country. So people have no one to blame but themselves for the current bs.

Abraham Lincoln wrrote that you cannot strenghten the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer,You cannot further the brotherhood of man by encouraging class hatred, you cannot stay out of trouble by spending more than you earn, you cannot buid character and courage by taking away man's independence and initiative, you cannot permanently help men by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves. They should live by these words. If they want to bring back jobs, they must change their agenda 360 degrees and get off this redistributing the wealth crap. They should have gotten the message by now that most of the American people do not want their far left liberal agenda and the proposition of a welfare state. Too many give away programs already, hard working taxpayers having to support the leeches of society.

President Obama needs to really tell us who he Serves. From his economic choices, it appears that he actually serves Wall Street! But then again, Most of the Congress, especially Republicans and Blue Dogs are the Chief Servers Of the Already disgustingly Wealthy!

The Tea-Partiers just do not get it that the ones they like to follow the most are actually leading our demise the most and have been since forever. Collectively OUR Government, Our Society, Our IDEAS, OUR Life-styles, OUR Corporate Greedies, and all other areas ARE BROKEN! This includes All the PROMISES, too. Who will tell the Children? They already KNOW. COMPETITION IS DIVISIVE. COOPERATION IS WHAT WE REQUIRE. Peace

No matter what the president says or what he does, the Party Of No will have something nasty to say. I dont think the Party of No should not be allowed to say anything on the same night he gives his speech. They are all racits and cant stand it that Sarah and John Boy did not get in white house. Let them the Party Of No got to the tea baggers convention then along with Sarah they will be with people of their own kind.

Just over a week ago the SOTU speech was going to be about all the great hard work the Dems has done on health care. But throw in one election loss and all of a sudden the economy is at the top of the list.

I am sorry but I am tired of the Obama hype and lies. This man is not sincerely concerned about our jobs or our lives. He only cares about trying to stave off losing seats in the house and senate.

Them Dems have been in charge of both houses of congress for THREE years and the white house ONE year and things have done nothing but get worse. But mark my words, this speech will be full of
"BLAME BUSH". I'm sick of it!! Be a man and take responsibility!!

    Democratic policies have failed!!

STEELE you are such a LOSER!!

President Obama – get your speech together and show these MORONS that they are to BLAME for not trying to come up with SOLUTIONS. All the RepubliCAN'Ts are doing now is trying to score Political Points.
