State of the Union: We're Unimpressed, Mr. Obama

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

The Tea Party Express released the following statement in response to the president's State of the Union Address:

"Tonight was a night of hot air, delivered in a way too long speech that revisited pledges we've quite frankly heard from Barack Obama before.

"His comments in the State of the Union were similar in tone and substance to his comments made after he won the 2008 presidential election and during his inauguration.

"But actions speak louder than words, and this administration violated its promise for increased transparency. Lobbyists were appointed by the president to positions he swore would never be filled by former lobbyists.

"Worst of all, we've seen out-of-control spending, and an unparalleled growth in the size and power of government.

"We'll start to believe Barack Obama when his actions match his words. Until then, it's just more empty promises, and we've all heard far too many unfulfilled promises from the politicians in Washington.
"In our opinion, the best part of this speech was the end."

Did any of us anti-Obama folks doubt for a minute that he would be oblivious to what just happened in Massachusetts? Didn't Robert Gibbs just say that the results in Mass. indicated support for Obama?

If Republicans had the majority in the houses, then I think there are considerable reasons why Obama should be impeached.

The hijacked Tea Party Express WOULD say some nonsense like that. Y'all ever noticed that the Republicans that got swept into office in VA, NJ, and MA were perceived as MODERATES. Even Bob McDonnell found some common ground with Obama during his opposition speech. These last few months were no vindication of the Tea Party or their henchmen, folks. Look to NY-23.

Another thing, during that pathetic attempt at a North American tour put on by the Tea Party Express last fall, I noticed that they didn't even bother to cover any of Mormon country, Arizona, New Mexico, the Dakotas, ANY of the Midwest or Appalachia, or anywhere in the Northeast (of course). In its original form, the Tea Party was a noble cause, but after being hijacked by these other mostly neocon astroturfers, the Tea Party movement has become a parody in itself.

This Libertarian may not be totally pleased with Obama's actions, but they're a hell of a lot better than anything the teabaggers could come up with.

We're unimpressed by the Tea Party Express. This one-issue, one-note, astroturf-rooted tempest in a teapot has done everything to derail conversation and everything to suggest to anyone who cares to watch that Americans care for nothing more than short-sighted and petty concerns, and absolutely nothing to advance a genuine, feasible, positive agenda. Enough! Stop giving these self-declared patriots airtime!

So typical of the TPE, making blanket statements without anything to back up their accusations....wouldn't really expect anything more from a bunch of racist, closed minded morons.

The general public meets the "Tea Part Express" with diverse opinions and this happens to be mine, Sorry the presidents speech was too long for you, noting your short attention span, I'm sure it was difficult for you to get your head around the extreme variety of subjects that the rest of the country wanted to hear about. In as much as the previous administration took eight years to mess up the country, it will take more than a year to clean it up. So do be patient.Do enjoy your little sign carrying picnics in the park and remember, the best part of your efforts will be the end.

Where were all the tea bags when Bush was in office? Eight years of out of control spending, two wars, record deficits, etc, but hey he's white! Nothing to complain about.

Where were the Tea Party goers during Bush II and Regan times? They seem to have conveniently forgotten and forgiven out of control spending and deficits run up by these adminstrations. The Tea Party is overheated – too much hot water has spoiled the tea..

More of the same crap for the Speech maker in chief.
How about asking the American voters which they prefer. An Obama/Democrat stimulus two with more pork filled spending directed mostly to government growth and bleeds out slow spending on infrastructur short term jobs. Or a Republican stimulus of a temporary payroll tax suspension that would provide stimulus to every one not matter what their job was and would help out every business in the private sector, no government picking winers and losers, everyone treated the same, stimulus money instantly poured into every sector of the economy.

Listening to Obama, I realize that I am tired of being treated like a small child being scolded for opposing his political agenda. He implied that opposing him was a response to media and/or contrary to democracy? He doesn't get it. We don't agree with his policies and spending, so we must stop listening to opposing views and/or the media? No, HE needs to start listening to the opposing views and find the middle. But he won't. He implied that the Republicans and others were giving "Washington" a bad name and creating disenchantment among the people? He's like a kid on the playground caught with the bat in his hand, who rashly points across the field to blame another child for the broken window.
This man has serious character flaws that can not be corrected. Can the country survive 3 more years of this?

The speech was very comprehensive. President Obama acknowledged he never said change would be easy. The central theme of President Obama's speech is that we are all Americans. As Americans in difficult times we must not be partisan, but united in purpose. Party loyalty will only prolong our current economic dilemma. We must be loyal to the well being of our nation, not our particular political party. The parties should get together to solve our current problems. Divided, we are weak; we must be united in purpose and action if we are to overcome our current difficulties. We have capable and talented people in our government; we must utilize this to solve our problems.

Here we go again, Americas aging majority White rebell Repub party, The Tea People or toderlers are at it again, the only hot air that is comming out is from your kettles boiling over that President Obama is trying to do something other than saying or being a party of NO!

You bunch of coward retards do not speak for me or my Democratic or Independent people who saw the economy tank when your c-minus repub Bush was in office for 8 years of financial hell, and overseas economic growth. He helped Osama Bin Laden more than any President before, by stimulating overseas companies and giving countries like China more influence over the United States. Read those tea leaves, and that victory is nothing, you can have that, we will reclaim it.
