Palin hired former Gore speechwriter for big speech

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/11/30/art.palin.928.jpg caption="Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin delivered a humorous speech at the Gridiron Dinner last December."]Washington (CNN) – Sarah Palin's political action committee doled out tens of thousands of dollars last year to Republican consulting firms and donations to GOP candidates, according to the PAC's end-of-year filing with the Federal Election Commission.

But Sarah PAC also paid one Democrat $14,000 for what the FEC report terms "Consulting, Communication, Speech."

That Democrat was Eric Schnure, a former speechwriter for Al Gore, who was hired by Palin to craft her humorous speech to the Gridiron Dinner in Washington last December.

Schnure, a speechwriting veteran who recently signed on with the communications consulting firm Dewey Square Group, calls himself a "proud Democrat." But Schnure said he had no problem helping a Republican – even one as polarizing as Palin – with a speech designed to make people laugh.

"I think humor is one of the last bastions of bipartisanship," Schnure told CNN. "She elicits strong opinions on both sides of the aisle, but I think most people in Washington are savvy about these things. And they understand these humor events have a special place."

Still, Schnure said he has received a fair amount of ribbing from fellow Democrats – including his wife – for lending a hand to Palin.

I find it funny that people have something to say when the president uses a teleprompter, but when Palin does it, it is ok. The difference here is that the President writes majority of his speeches.

Heaven knows she needs all the help she can get – I doubt she could spell CAT if you spotted her the C and the T!

Sarah Palin is demanding all sorts of things from her bully pulpit.

I want to demand that Sarah Palin find a new job and just SHUT UP!

    Shut up, Sarah!

The very notion that our politicians are not capable of "writing" their own material is a bit depressing. They don't write their own speeches, they don't author their own books. . . really seems a lot like the sophistication seen at the end of the Golden Age of Greece. Remember the Sophists could justify just about anything; not only that- they ultimately brought the Golden Age to a close due to their actions.

Speech writers for hire: a sad state of politics in our time, two parties that are the same with some nuts in the fringes. The rest is all personal and decorative: the difference between Obama and Palin is very small on the major issues and in popularity in their respective bases. The left understands this and is therefore ready to ridicule and minimize her!

Most politics have speech writers...how about obamas repetitive speeches written by a brain washed hollywood speechwriter....who has time to worry about who is writing speeches for who, when our country is not only getting destroyed but open to anyone who wants to come here. Shouldn't we be worrying about our huge deficit or other serious problems facing our country

It will never cease to amaze me how a woman with so little discernible education, nor grammatik skills can have this much print devoted to her...but she's laughing all the way to the bank – all the while she continues to stir up trouble...

Wow...whatever happened to "write your own dam speech"? I do know now that what the politicians are spitting out are actually never their own words...I wonder how much of it are their opinions, and not what some speech writer thought sounded good?

That anyone who supports Palin could accuse anyone else of Hate speech would be laughable if not so scary. This woman personifies Hate speech. Do you actually listen to what comes out of her mouth or are you just looking at her legs?

Come on you guys, leave Palin alone. She is not as bad as you think. After all, she does have a sound political platform, well thought out solutions for our country's problems, international experience and will be a great leader of our contry, returning morals, values and economic prosperity. At least this is what Captain Zoothog from planet Kahblah told me when we had tea aboard his mother ship.

Love the way the Rethuglicans say Dems and Libs use hate speech. Obviously they don't hear Hannity, Beck, Coulter, Limpbum and the rest of right wing biggoted, hate mongers speak. Palin is a complete moron. Most people see her for what she really is. Hope she does get the nomination!!!! Obama...4 more years!!!!!!

This speechwriter has shown more bipartisanship than the entire Democrat party has in the last four years.

Eric Schnure earns his living by writing speeches for other people, that's okay. Yes, he may have "helped" Palin by not making a fool of herself with this speech, but there are many other ways she can do that all by herself.

Not surprising that she had to buy a speech, as did " W " Bush..
The only difference being that Bush had trouble even reading his from his little book..

Both of them, not the brightest lights in the room..

Never get tired of hearing about Palin. She is the best comedy show available. What a dim bulb she is and to think the Republican Party is now run by the likes of Palin, Beck, O'Reilly and Hannity. The four biggest hate spewers of all time!

Why am I seeing so much of her on CNN? Can CNN please remove this lady from the news? I want to listen to those who make decisions, and where's Ron Paul in the news?

Palin can read any speech, but can she understand what any of them mean? We think not.
