Palin wants Rahm Emanuel fired

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/11/10/art.getty.rahm.emanuel.jpg caption="Palin says Emanuel should be fired over a recently reported comment."](CNN) - This time, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has gone too far, Sarah Palin says.

The former Alaska governor is calling on President Obama to fire his notoriously coarse top aide after a report in the Wall Street Journal last week quoted Emanuel as referring to liberal groups in August who attacked the president's health care plan as "F-ing retarded."

In a posting on Facebook, Palin says the language is not only "caustic [and] crude" but deeply offensive to those with disabilities. She also compares the choice of words to that of the "N-word" in reference to African-Americans.

"His recent tirade against participants in a strategy session was such a strong slap in many American faces that our president is doing himself a disservice by seeming to condone Rahm's recent sick and offensive tactic," Palin wrote.

"Just as we'd be appalled if any public figure of Rahm's stature ever used the "N-word" or other such inappropriate language, Rahm's slur on all God's children with cognitive and developmental disabilities – and the people who love them – is unacceptable, and it's heartbreaking," Palin also wrote in the post Monday evening.

Palin's youngest child, Trig, was born with Down Syndrome in April, 2008.

Special Olympics Chairman Tim Shriver has also taken issue with the language, sending a letter to Emanuel last week asking him to join his organization's campaign to end the use of the word.

The White House has not commented on Emanuel's reported language.

I never thought I'd be agreeing with Sarah Palin on anything, but, as a disabled person, if it is true that Rahm Emanuel said this, I am offended by his comment. And, one doesn't have to be disabled to appreciate this.

  8. If you want something ruined, put a republican in charge

Cheney used the "F" bomb, and he was heralded a hero by the right wingnuts. Palin has become a bleeding heart tea bagging RINO.

Actually, Emanuel isn't the one referring to the developmentally disabled, it's Palin. Ask her why she is referring to them as such.

Something tells me if a republican't had used that exact phrase to describe a liberal, we wouldn't have heard a peep out of her! Get over it, Sarah, that's a common phrase since time immemorial and i seriously doubt Obama is going to fire him over a case of political incorrectness.

I am appalled to agree even once with Ms. Palin, but I agree the comment was senseless, insensitive and demeaning. My child has Down's Syndrome also. and I am a Democrat and I take offense Mr Emmanuel !. by the way this does not mean I am going to wake up in the morning and agree in any way with the neocon fundamentalists. But you insulted my child !

Ok...I can't imagine that I would have ever agreed with Sarah P on anything. However, Rahm is crude and inappropriate – as is his language for a public figure. I don't know that firing is the path that should be taken, but he should certainly be whipped into shape or shown the door.

Ironic that she would focus the choice of words, not the content of the message that he was communicating.

Let's see...she'd denounce the "N" word, yet would NOT support the extension of the Voting Rights Act, full sampling of African American neighborhoods in big cities in the census, support full funding of No Child Left Behind (so poor schools fall even further behind), expansion of Head Start for at-risk kids AND WOULD support school voucher programs which would be used in many poorer communities as a means of re-enacting segregated schools. Yeah...she's so pro-minority.

Palin should focus ledd on the surface and more on the substance. But, then again, surface appearance is the only thing her entire political career has been based on.
