Palin wants Rahm Emanuel fired

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/11/10/art.getty.rahm.emanuel.jpg caption="Palin says Emanuel should be fired over a recently reported comment."](CNN) - This time, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has gone too far, Sarah Palin says.

The former Alaska governor is calling on President Obama to fire his notoriously coarse top aide after a report in the Wall Street Journal last week quoted Emanuel as referring to liberal groups in August who attacked the president's health care plan as "F-ing retarded."

In a posting on Facebook, Palin says the language is not only "caustic [and] crude" but deeply offensive to those with disabilities. She also compares the choice of words to that of the "N-word" in reference to African-Americans.

"His recent tirade against participants in a strategy session was such a strong slap in many American faces that our president is doing himself a disservice by seeming to condone Rahm's recent sick and offensive tactic," Palin wrote.

"Just as we'd be appalled if any public figure of Rahm's stature ever used the "N-word" or other such inappropriate language, Rahm's slur on all God's children with cognitive and developmental disabilities – and the people who love them – is unacceptable, and it's heartbreaking," Palin also wrote in the post Monday evening.

Palin's youngest child, Trig, was born with Down Syndrome in April, 2008.

Special Olympics Chairman Tim Shriver has also taken issue with the language, sending a letter to Emanuel last week asking him to join his organization's campaign to end the use of the word.

The White House has not commented on Emanuel's reported language.

  1. Really?!

But she had NO problem with her crowd of fringe lunatics using the N-word and calling for Obama's death. While it may not have been the best choice of words for Rahm to use, Palin has NO BUSINESS criticizing.

Sarah Palin is a gross affront to all semi-intelligent women. She may have the gift for the gab, but there is nothing between her ears that is remotely intelligent.

Go back to Alaska! And thank the lord she is no longer in a position to mess up that state!

    Dear Ms. Palin,

I struggle with your attempt to categorize Mr. Emmanuel's use of the 'R'" word with the "N" word. The difference is in the fact that the word was not used in regard to people who do suffer disabilities, while the "N" word is ONLY used to denigrate those who ARE African American. Had the "R" word been used in reference to the many people of the world who happen to have disabilities, I would agree with you (though that might be the first and last time I agree with ANYTHING you say). Your pitiable attempt at being Vice President of the United States has given you a platform, but you like so many others of your ilk (Democrat and Republican, Black and White), have used that platform as a bully pulpit as opposed to using it for the good of this country. You actually should be embarrased to have taken this oppurtunity for grandstanding as opposed to something worthwhile. Americans with disabilities don't need you to use them for your own gain and notariety, instead, they need you to use your time in the sun to do something positive.

Sarah Palin has anointed herself as the intellectual purity
watchdog of the semi-McCarthyites. She should give it
a rest and go back to cooking whale blubber casseroles
in the ice locker. Who cares what she thinks. To all
people with half a brain, Palin counts for nil !

Sarah Palin, you are a pot calling a kettle black. Can't you first and fore-mostly evaluate yourself before pointing out at someone else words? You have been more un-American and incendiary in your speeches; and so it does not surprise me that anything anyone says about "female or woman" then that person is being sexist, and anything about "retard", you jump-up and claim it is an attack about those with disability. You are not the only person with a child with disability, and stop assailing anyone for their freedom of speech, which includes associating their words to other deeply resented racial hate words, it is rather obvious you just felt like using this opportunity to cloak the bitter content mind.

Did you not study journalism is college in order to know the association of words in a statement to a place, person or object, and purpose? Please stick your book tour and Fox job, and stop playing the "sexist" and "disability" card.

A quitter (I quit as Alaska Gov if you don't recall) with a opinion on how to run government.

I care and totally agree with Sarah Palin that Rahm Emanuel should be fired over his recent degrading, offensive and crude comment. This is over the line, even for his bad behavior. He's the WH Chief of Staff and I have not heard the main stream media or the WH commenting on this. Imagine if it had been Bush's right hand man using such inappropriate language. it would be on the front page.

If he would have said morons or idiots instead of retard, then Palin could have complained that he offended the republican conservative religious base or the Tea party movement.

The republicans have people like Palin, Limbaugh, Hannity and O'Rielly do say the exact same type of crap, usually worse 24-7. The only difference is that they are not on the republican payroll?? But, if you believe that I have a bridge to nowhere to sell you.

It's pretty ridiculous. Maybe she should ask Sen. John McCain to resign for called Vietnamese people the G-word during the 2000 presidential campaign.

Anybody can see that she trying to score political points, otherwise she would go after anybody using derogatory language. I don't see her going after hardcore rap for using the N-word profusely, and this is Black History Month.

Next thing you know she'll go after another politician for saying "dumb" because it offends people who cannot speak.

Nice to see that Palin is holier that thou………..Someone tell this woman that she lost, she has no voice in ANY decision, even in Alaska where she QUIT as Governor……and she certainly is not qualified to tell our President what to do……….Go back to counting your money that you funneled from you PAC to yourself by buying your own books….Hypocrite!!!!!!!!!!!

What is the difference between saying the “N” word and saying retard? If you ask someone with Down syndrome if the term retard offends them, they will give you a great big hug.

No she didn't! The gifter that quit job her job mid term to make more money. Oh wait – it was those family values that she claimed in the rambling resignation speech....!

Is Palin "F__cking Retarded" to make such a demand. McCain should have fired her for being "dumb". Since when did Palin start reading news magazines?

Watch, like lemmings running toward a cliff there'll be dozens of posters who will miraculously find a way to bash Palin, rather than discuss what Emanuel said.

While i don't believe that Emmanuel needs to be fired...I do agree that such language is inappropriate for public discourse.

CNN: We really do not care what Sarah Palin thinks. She has a very small base of supporters, who like her, have no idea what is going on in this country.

Let stop calling her the former Governor from Alaska. Remember, she QUIT with over 2 1/2 years left in her term. She QUIT to make MONEY.

    Please stop giving her attention!

We should be proud that we have a society in which people challenged by mental retardation like Sarah Palin can lead a somewhat normal life. Thanks to programs like the GOP's McCain Hand Up program, Sarah has learned to dress herself without the help of a dozen staffers picking out $200k worth of designer clothes.
