Palin wants Rahm Emanuel fired

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/11/10/art.getty.rahm.emanuel.jpg caption="Palin says Emanuel should be fired over a recently reported comment."](CNN) - This time, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has gone too far, Sarah Palin says.

The former Alaska governor is calling on President Obama to fire his notoriously coarse top aide after a report in the Wall Street Journal last week quoted Emanuel as referring to liberal groups in August who attacked the president's health care plan as "F-ing retarded."

In a posting on Facebook, Palin says the language is not only "caustic [and] crude" but deeply offensive to those with disabilities. She also compares the choice of words to that of the "N-word" in reference to African-Americans.

"His recent tirade against participants in a strategy session was such a strong slap in many American faces that our president is doing himself a disservice by seeming to condone Rahm's recent sick and offensive tactic," Palin wrote.

"Just as we'd be appalled if any public figure of Rahm's stature ever used the "N-word" or other such inappropriate language, Rahm's slur on all God's children with cognitive and developmental disabilities – and the people who love them – is unacceptable, and it's heartbreaking," Palin also wrote in the post Monday evening.

Palin's youngest child, Trig, was born with Down Syndrome in April, 2008.

Special Olympics Chairman Tim Shriver has also taken issue with the language, sending a letter to Emanuel last week asking him to join his organization's campaign to end the use of the word.

The White House has not commented on Emanuel's reported language.

If a republican had said this, the outrage would be immediate and harsh. When it comes from a democrat it's brushed aside and sugar coated. This type of offensive language from a person in that high profile position is completely unacceptable. He should be fired, or if he had any integrity at all – be smart enough to resign!

i'm not sure if i should kill myself right now.. i can't believe i'm about to say the following words... I AGREE WITH SARAH PALIN... ouch, that really hurts.. rahm is an embarassment to himself and the obama administration.. always has been.. and, the fact that no one else will tell thim to shut up and go away, further erodes obama's credibility.. however, let me be sure to mention that i find it laughable that CNN even bothers to put palin's opinion on their web site..

I suppose it is a crude use of language but the fact remains that "retarded" unlike the n-word, is a word that is used to describe growth and development problems of many things, not just humans. While Emmanuel used it in a derogatory way to the extreme left liberals, the fact is that retarded in and of itself is not an insult.

The language that a top aide for the President used is the issue. He should be fired for publically using language that is VERY OFFENSIVE!!!!!

Does anyone really care what she thinks? Why do you, CNN, and other news sites keep giving her space to say what she thinks? She should have gone away ages ago. This is not a credible person.

I'm SO tired of hearing from this air-filled knucklehead.

A note to CNN.com content managers: From now on, when I see "Palin" in any headline I'm going to go "CLICK".

    ...And go somewhere else.

Whatever Sarah. Retarded Retarded Retarded. I work with special needs children everyday. I probably spend more time around them than you do with your own son. If you want to be technical about it, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Developmental Delays are all forms of retardation, RETARD!!! And trying to compare this to the use of the N word is completely nonsense. Retard, retarded and retardation are all part of the english vocabulary whereas the N word is not(except in the homes of racist scum).

But it's ok for you to call the current president a terrorist? Pick your battles carefully ms palin.

Ah, give it up Miss Sarah – your 15 minutes are up – there's a new republican "shiny object" – Scott Brown.

And her language has always been impecable? (she'll have to look up the word, if she knows how). Acc. to her grandson's father Levi, what did she call her own baby?

I agree with Sarah. Rahm should know better than to use that slur. The Kennedy's most loving legacy is to the Special Olympics. Obama should make it clear that degrading special needs children and adults has no place in this White House.

Rohm is partially right, because something is better than nothing. And so are the left leaner’s because the bill has been watered down so much through compromises’ to the right that its hollow compared to where it started and a huge windfall for major medical insurance companies.
Sarah is offended only because she is one.
