(CNN) – California's three-way Republican Senate primary is heating up after the Carly Fiorina's campaign released a controversial Web video targeting rival Tom Campbell.
In the video, Fiorina takes issue with Campbell's views on tax and budgetary issues during his tenure in public service. Campbell has previously served as a U.S. Congressman, a California state Senator, as California's Finance Director and as a member of California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's Council of Economic Advisors.
Entitled "FCINO," the online video seeks to portray Campbell as a "Fiscal Conservative In Name Only." In an effort to paint Campbell as a proverbial wolf in sheep's clothing when it comes to fiscal conservatism, the more than 3-minute video contains multiple images of real sheep. The Web video ends with images of a man crawling around on all fours in a sheep's costume that has red glowing eyes.
The video has been dubbed "demon sheep" by many political observers who have panned the video. In conjunction with the release of the video, the Fiorina campaign also rolled out www.fcino.com on Wednesday.
The campaign of Fiorina's other rival, Chuck DeVore, is wasting no time slamming the Fiorina camp for its latest online effort.
"We were stunned to be totally frank," Joshua Trevino, the communications director for the DeVore campaign, said of the "FCINO" video. The Fiorina campaign "seems intent on making Hollywood history rather than political history," Trevino also said Thursday.
Trevino also suggested that the "FCINO" video provides a troubling preview of what Fiorina might be like as a senator. But, Trevino quickly added, with Wednesday's release of the controversial video, "she is ensuring that will never happen."
Seeking to capitalize on the negative attention the Fiorina camp is receiving over the new Web video, the DeVore camp has already set up http://demonsheep.org, a spoof Web site for a non-existent group called "The Society for the Eradication of Demon Sheep from our Political Discourse."
Twitter has also been buzzing with chatter about the new Fiorina video since its release Wednesday. The Twitter hashtag "#demonsheep" is currently a trending topic for Washington, D.C.-based tweets, according to the site. And a Twitter account called @demonsheep has been set up and currently has roughly 800 followers.
The @demonsheep Twitter account is not affiliated with the DeVore campaign, according to Trevino.
The Campbell campaign has not responded to CNN's request for comment on the new Fiorina Web video.

Hey, she got run out of HP––a California-based company––due to her rather questionable judgment...why should anyone be surprised?
Fiorina a fiscal conservative? Go find out how many private jet planes she unnecessarily added to the HP fleet to service the needs of her and her "entourage" that went eveywhere with her like she was a rock star or something....mostly "something"
The current CEO of HP would fly coach if they'd let him, and HP is doing much better after Carly, thank you very much.

I laugh at myself, plenty of times, I can sing, dance, and do all sorts of things...which I'm sure you guys know(boy, I kind of regret it, LOL!!). 🙂
Later, have a good evening.
LOL! I almost fell of my chair when I saw this ad! How stupid! If Carly thinks people will fall for this ad, then she must think they are sheep.
So,...This is what politics has succumbed to? SCARING people who do not have the tenacity to make up their own minds??? This world is truly going crazy!!! Sam. Have SOME respect people. Just like sheep, some people NEED to be FED intelligence. (Because they cannot utilize THEIR own gray matter.)
This is exactly like it's like during any other election cycle. Come on this hardly deserves notice.
And as far as most of us are concerned most politicians are wolves in sheep's clothing! Especially with our money.
she has no clue what conservative is, she blew $ like there is no tomorrow, when she was at HP, of course it wasen't her money, this women has no soul, she is crazy, just ask some people at HP
This is comedy gold.
Waaaaaaaaay to long a commercial, but funny!!
I really do believe that Prescription Medications serves a real purpose and some people need it to relief their pain and other issues ... but we should have known that somewhere two people or groups of people on medication would cross paths and come up with something like this... which is the only explanation for this bizzare ad... in which case we should have implemented a rule that 2 people or groups of people on any kind of drugs can not approve something like this without someone who IS NOT on medication seeing it first.
I live in California and I will vote only for Demorcate
I hope she and others of her ilk ruin the Republicant party. We don't need a party made up primarily of people whose motto is, "I got mine. Screw you!" We need more people who are willing to do right by each other, even if it costs something!
I wonder how many HP or exHP employees would actually vote for Fiorina? What was it like working with or under her leadership. Anyone? -CdM
The thing is, Campbell is the only one of the three that acted like a grown-up when the California economy went in the toilet. If tax revenues are down you either need to cut taxes or cut services or both. Every time the state tried to cut government services people (many of whom would later don tea-bag laden hats) cried like babies, so Campbell advised the governor to do the only other thing that could be done.
As for the commercial, well, I have to say that it's the most bizarre collection of mixed metaphors that I've seen in a long time. SNL short film anyone?
Ms. Hewlett Packard-or-Bust sure knows how to create funny ads, I give her that. It's so awful it's funny.
And to think, she was McCain's economic advisor. The person who ran HP in the ground, is now setting her sights on California.
Watch out California.
