DeVore campaign slams Fiorina camp's Web video

(CNN) – California's three-way Republican Senate primary is heating up after the Carly Fiorina's campaign released a controversial Web video targeting rival Tom Campbell.
In the video, Fiorina takes issue with Campbell's views on tax and budgetary issues during his tenure in public service. Campbell has previously served as a U.S. Congressman, a California state Senator, as California's Finance Director and as a member of California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's Council of Economic Advisors.
Entitled "FCINO," the online video seeks to portray Campbell as a "Fiscal Conservative In Name Only." In an effort to paint Campbell as a proverbial wolf in sheep's clothing when it comes to fiscal conservatism, the more than 3-minute video contains multiple images of real sheep. The Web video ends with images of a man crawling around on all fours in a sheep's costume that has red glowing eyes.
The video has been dubbed "demon sheep" by many political observers who have panned the video. In conjunction with the release of the video, the Fiorina campaign also rolled out www.fcino.com on Wednesday.
The campaign of Fiorina's other rival, Chuck DeVore, is wasting no time slamming the Fiorina camp for its latest online effort.
"We were stunned to be totally frank," Joshua Trevino, the communications director for the DeVore campaign, said of the "FCINO" video. The Fiorina campaign "seems intent on making Hollywood history rather than political history," Trevino also said Thursday.
Trevino also suggested that the "FCINO" video provides a troubling preview of what Fiorina might be like as a senator. But, Trevino quickly added, with Wednesday's release of the controversial video, "she is ensuring that will never happen."
Seeking to capitalize on the negative attention the Fiorina camp is receiving over the new Web video, the DeVore camp has already set up http://demonsheep.org, a spoof Web site for a non-existent group called "The Society for the Eradication of Demon Sheep from our Political Discourse."
Twitter has also been buzzing with chatter about the new Fiorina video since its release Wednesday. The Twitter hashtag "#demonsheep" is currently a trending topic for Washington, D.C.-based tweets, according to the site. And a Twitter account called @demonsheep has been set up and currently has roughly 800 followers.
The @demonsheep Twitter account is not affiliated with the DeVore campaign, according to Trevino.
The Campbell campaign has not responded to CNN's request for comment on the new Fiorina Web video.

Worst campaigns ads in the history of politics. Now the Republicans are fighting to claim whom is the most extreme wing-nut? Right-wingnuts are NOT popular in California. Just look at our current governor. Fiorina ran HP into the ground and was at the helm when they spied on their own executives. Jerry Brown is a million times better than these baffoons.

The sad part is that the media will never cover the real issues behind the bad commercials.. we as Americans feel we need to be entertained every minute! With news traveling at the speed of light the only thing that will get ratings for the news station is the "shock and awe" factor.. who cares about the real issue.. where's my bucket of popcorn!

If you've seen this video you'd know how stunningly insane it is. She basically seems to be implying that God favors "fiscal conservatism" and will smite those who are not "fiscal conservatives." Ridiculous. Coakley may have gone out with a whimper from running a complacent barely-active campaign, but Fiorina seems hell-bent on going out "nucular" style.

I thought the ad was kind of creepy...not sure who thought up the idea for this ad, but they should be fired. The ad made no sense and probably confused voters.

Boy these Republicans surely are the dumbest bunch I've ever seen. They're are beyond stupid at this point. From lying about the underwear bomber to being outraged that their lies were refuted by the fact that he was cooperating; to being upset about deficits to voting against the deficit commission they created, etc. Stupid, stupid people.

I don't know what Campbell's fiscal bona fides are, not being particularly up on California politics, but I will say that that was the most ridiculous video I've seen since Michael Dukakis stuck his helmeted head out of a tank.
I knew the Republicans would make this the nastiest campaign ever as we get close to November, but it's great to see them destroying each other already. It's only Feb and they are already "in the gutter" with their typical tasteless ads.
I love how President Obama is finally calling out the Republicans for their obstructionism, non-civility, contrary to be contrary, and doing NOTHING for the American People.
The Republicans are now in a tight box. They can keep voting NO on everything and delaying important legislation and therefore be FOR CORPORATIONS, BANKS, AND INSURANCE COMPANIES WHO ABUSE THE PEOPLE – OR- Republicans can act like human beings, drop the hate speech, the lies, the fear-mongering and help restore our country and vote YES and BE FOR THE PEOPLE.
