DeVore campaign slams Fiorina camp's Web video

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/02/04/art.demonsheep0204.yt.jpg caption="A new Web video from the campaign of Carly Fiorina is drawing fire from rival Chuck DeVore."]
(CNN) – California's three-way Republican Senate primary is heating up after the Carly Fiorina's campaign released a controversial Web video targeting rival Tom Campbell.

In the video, Fiorina takes issue with Campbell's views on tax and budgetary issues during his tenure in public service. Campbell has previously served as a U.S. Congressman, a California state Senator, as California's Finance Director and as a member of California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's Council of Economic Advisors.

Entitled "FCINO," the online video seeks to portray Campbell as a "Fiscal Conservative In Name Only." In an effort to paint Campbell as a proverbial wolf in sheep's clothing when it comes to fiscal conservatism, the more than 3-minute video contains multiple images of real sheep. The Web video ends with images of a man crawling around on all fours in a sheep's costume that has red glowing eyes.

The video has been dubbed "demon sheep" by many political observers who have panned the video. In conjunction with the release of the video, the Fiorina campaign also rolled out www.fcino.com on Wednesday.

The campaign of Fiorina's other rival, Chuck DeVore, is wasting no time slamming the Fiorina camp for its latest online effort.

"We were stunned to be totally frank," Joshua Trevino, the communications director for the DeVore campaign, said of the "FCINO" video. The Fiorina campaign "seems intent on making Hollywood history rather than political history," Trevino also said Thursday.

Trevino also suggested that the "FCINO" video provides a troubling preview of what Fiorina might be like as a senator. But, Trevino quickly added, with Wednesday's release of the controversial video, "she is ensuring that will never happen."

Seeking to capitalize on the negative attention the Fiorina camp is receiving over the new Web video, the DeVore camp has already set up http://demonsheep.org, a spoof Web site for a non-existent group called "The Society for the Eradication of Demon Sheep from our Political Discourse."

Twitter has also been buzzing with chatter about the new Fiorina video since its release Wednesday. The Twitter hashtag "#demonsheep" is currently a trending topic for Washington, D.C.-based tweets, according to the site. And a Twitter account called @demonsheep has been set up and currently has roughly 800 followers.

The @demonsheep Twitter account is not affiliated with the DeVore campaign, according to Trevino.

The Campbell campaign has not responded to CNN's request for comment on the new Fiorina Web video.

No wonder HP got rid of Carly. Let's hope Californians are not stupid enough to hire her. I think whoever produced this "ad" was channeling Monty Python. Badly.

I almost forgot that Republicans eat their own too. Its not just lies, fear and hate towards the dems, they will stoop to any level to work like the devil to destroy anyone. What great values they have NOT. Carly much like Sarah Palin loves power and money over anything moral and decent.

There's nothing wrong with Fiona's ad, saying it as is, is GOOD. This political correctness is killing this country. Enough is enough!

Fiona's ad is SPOT ON! What can I say about California, 32% of welfare recipients are located in Californsky. Shall we admit to the fact California is a welfare state?

Seriously? Who vetted this ad and said" Wow that is really effective at showing my strengths and my opponent's weaknesses..it really focuses on the issues and does not introduce anything that would detract from what I want to get across to the voters ". I suspect that the same idiots that produced and then approved this ad are the same idiots that almost drove the economy over the edge with their nonsense.

Carly Fiorina... isn't she the person who wrecked HP as their CEO, before she was fired for underperforming?

Is anyone truly surprised? Ask Carly about the bang up job she did at HP and the events that led to her leaving. Someday we'll all get tired of this nonsense and never vote for anyone who displays such tasteless behavior. Then again, maybe all the sheeple will continue to buy in and the madness will continue. True democracy waits for true candidates and voters who chose to learn the facts and stop listening to the paid for blow hards.

Carly Fiorina is the one who almost drove Hewlett-Packard into the ground, right? This video is laughable. I hope Californians have the sense not to vote for her, her judgment is obviously questionable. Not to mention her aesthetics. ha ha.

Now seriously, she was once the most important female executive in the USA. She was a role model. It was hers to lose, and she shredded it like rotten cabbage – now she thinks she can run a country? Has she taken a drug test lately?

Republicans are really scary people.....In the past Republicans were an easy target because they all stood under the same umbrella, but now we have moderate, conservative, evangelical, confederate and most recently the tea party Republicans....do they not understand the concept of "united we stand, divided we fall!"
