President Obama to throw bipartisan Super Bowl party

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/02/05/art.obama.helmet.gi.jpg caption="President Obama will host a Super Bowl party this weekend at the White House."](CNN) - President Obama will hold his second bipartisan Super Bowl party this weekend, his aides announced Friday morning.

It will be a much smaller affair than last year when more than 75 people gathered to watch the game at the White House theater. Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said about 40 people altogether are invited Sunday to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

White House aides say House and Senate lawmakers, both Democratic and Republican, representing competing states on behalf of the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts have been invited. So far those who've accepted the invitations include Indiana Democratic Reps. Andre Carson, Baron Hill, and Brad Ellsworth, and Louisiana Republican Rep. Joseph Cao. Military service members who've been injured fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan will also be guests, along with their spouses and children.

Gibbs says the White House will put out a more complete list of attendees later in the day.

Last year the president hosted fans of the Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers. Guests that year told CNN the president went walking from room to room serving them brownies and oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies. Also on last year's menu: hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, chips and salsa, soft pretzels, hot fudge ice cream and pizza.

Happy to see some our brave military service members and their families invited.

However, seeing the Dow down 400 points in the last two days, unemployment 'down' to 9.7%, I think BOTH dems and repubs should be ashamed to even have a party. Get back to work.

Can you imagine sitting through a football game with Robert Gibbs to your right and Joe Biden on your left?

The completely irresponsible behavior of Republicans in Congress is not legally treason. However, their clear goal is to prevent this administration from solving any of America's problems. And, they don't care if Americans have to suffer in the process - well, middle class Americans anyway.

A generation from now, assuming that the republic survives, school children will be reading about the 2010 "Republican Gridlock Congress." Well, if the schools can afford textbooks they will.

And just like you can't find anyone who voted for Richard Nixon, none of the Conservatives who voted for these numbskulls will take responsibility for what they've done.

Obama does not need to spend tax payers money for SuperBowl party. He would not know how to play by the rules if he were a player.

We can care less about bipartisanship. Getting different factions of the same mafia , matters little.

Being the "PLAYER" that he is with our money I can understand him wanting to throw a party. Oh but wait.....he and his wife have been partying since he went into the White House. I'd be more impressed if my son-in-law could find a good paying job to support his wife and two children. What our leader will spend on his party would probably feed them for a year. Sad state of affairs.

Sorry, but President NObama "DOES NOT" know what the word bipartisan means.

Also, who will end up paying for his show-off event? Hint, hint!

Remember, Bubble Head/Plastic/Senile Pelosi spent $100,000 of our taxes on booze, and that pales in comparison to what was spent in plane transportation for her "kiss butt" friends and relatives.

And then NObama, Pelosi, etc., etc., etc. have the audacity to say that they care about America and its people. My fellow Americans, the proof is in the pudding!

Now, more than ever, we need to demonstrate that the real power rests with "The People." Act before this morons take our country over the precipice.

    Stay tuned!

President Obama keeps on trying to build a bridge with Republicans and they keep tearing it down. Republicans DO NOT want to work with President Obama or the Democratic Party. I wish the Democrats would quit trying and force the Republicans to filibuster so all of America can see their obstructionism in full action.

Want to know who is doing NOTHING and voting AGAINST every single piece of legislation to help American people? Look at the voting records of Republicans.

My state of NC is pretty average and our Democratic Senator voted YES for people-oriented bills 95% of the time. Our Republican Senator voted for people-oriented bills 20% of the time. My Congressional Republican Rep's record is even worse. Why do they even bother to show up if they are not going to work to help people who mistakenly voted for them?

What did they vote NO on? Equal pay for women, raising the salaries of soliders to get their families off food stamps, against more protective gear for our soldiers, against credit card reform to stop the abuses of us by the banks and credit card companies, against extending worker's unemployment insurance and other simple things to help Americans as we work toward recovery from the Bush years.

Why would they vote NO on such things? To be contrary and obstructionists so they meet the Republican goal of America failing and our President failing. Very "Country first" huh??

I see after Obama got a brief bump in his approval ratings from the STOU, that his numbers have fallen back to pre STOU levels.
He said some thinge the independents wanted to hear like more civility in Washington, promises to control spending and reduce deficits, and he threw a few bones to the Republicans. But since then he has publicly trashed the Republicans daily. His psycho approach to a more civil bipartisian Washington has already turned independents off again. And Obama's new budget was a killer. Increase spending to 3.8 trillion, 300 billion more than the last budget. And a projected 2010 deficit of 1.56 trillion, and increase of 256 billion over the 2009 deficit. And all this came with Obama grandstanding how the new budget was full of deficit reducing measures. You can't say you are reducing the deficit while at the same time increasing it by 256 billion. And the projected 2011 deficit is 1.3 trillion, the same as 2009. You can't blame the deficits on Bush when you increase the budget by 600 billion from the last Bush budget, throw in the 800 billion stimulus, auto bailouts and more. Especially when see the deficits increase in 2010 and go back to the same level as 2009 in 2011 when 2009 was a recession year and 2010 and 2011 are projected to be years of economic growth. Deficits should go down when there is economic growth as more tax revenue is generated, that is unless you increase spending more than the increase in tax revenue. Deficits 2010 and forward are not Bush's fault, they are Obama's.

I wouldn't trust what Obama gives the people to eat. I wonder if last years brownies were laced with some green leafy stuff. Never can tell with a coke head. Remember what they have been saying for years! When you smoke the noble weed it leads to harder stuff which one become addicted too. Is Obama there yet. Could be when you look at his last year in office!
