According to an ABC News/Washington Post survey, 71 percent of the public say the former Alaska governor is not qualified to serve in the White House, with 26 percent saying the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee is qualified to be president. The 26 percent who say Palin is qualified is down 12 points from an ABC News/Washington Post poll from November.
Twenty-eight percent of people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey from November indicated that Palin was qualified, with 7 in 10 feeling she was not qualified to be president.
The ABC News/Washington Post poll, released Thursday morning as Palin marks her 46th birthday, also indicates that even a majority of Republicans now view Palin as not qualified to serve as commander-in-chief. According to the survey, 45 percent of conservatives see her as qualified, down 21 points from last November.
The survey also indicates that 37 percent of Americans have a favorable view of her, with 55 percent holding an unfavorable view. According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey from last month, 43 percent of the public had a favorable opinion and 46 percent had an unfavorable view of Palin.
The poll was conducted February 4-8, as Palin gave the keynote address in Nashville, Tennessee, at what was billed as the first national Tea Party convention. The survey indicates that Americans are split on the Tea Party movement, with 35 viewing the movement in a favorable way, 4 in 10 holding an unfavorable impression, and a quarter of those questioned unsure about the year old movement. A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey conducted last month indicated that 4 in 10 were unsure, with one-third holding a favorable view and one quarter having an unfavorable view of the Tea Party movement.
The ABC News/Washington Post poll indicates that 45 percent generally agree with the movement's small government positions on the issues, with 36 percent disagreeing and 1 in 5 unsure.
The ABC News/Washington Post poll was conducted by telephone, with 1,004 adults questioned. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Could it be that people are finally waking up and smelling the moose after all these hoof in mouth comments?
The same people that brought you George W. Bush, are bringing you Sarah Palin.
Why would we do this to ourselves again?!
Republicans are not Conservative.
Even the most stupid person is smart enough to know Sara Palin is really not Presidential material.
Let's face it, if you can't think on your feet worth a dime, especially on key issues, having to write crib notes on your hand, than maybe being president isn't for you. She would be a joke as the GOP nominee in 2012. I know more about foreign policy than her even.
Sara Palin is dangerous. She is really a very stupid woman, she makes up as she goes, has no respect for anyone else and is generally out for herself. John McCain opened up a can of worms when he found her and i don't think there is any going back. The press makes it worse by reporting on her every move. Out of all of the smart educated women out there why in the world do they focus on her?
Iwant be v ote for sarah palin
Thanks you
Hey Sarah
How's that Vice-y President-y thing working out for ya?
...and they needed a poll to find this out?!?
Sarah is gonna start her own social networking site, and call it "Qwitter"...
The woman is clearly not qualified.
She's a quitter, a liar and a hypocrite, and relatively poorly educated. More concerning is that she's a divider, playing to the far right as compared to realizing the scope of our country's problems and using a strategy of uniting all concerned to address those problems.
At best the former governor is a blend between entertainer and catalyst. Any educated person who decides to be informed about the issues and skill level needed to address those issues realizes Palin is not even remotely qualified.
Criticism wounds, but praise heals. Sarah gets more than her share of both. You have to know by now that she has pretty thick skin, much thicker than President Obama whose lip quivers pretty often these days. Truth speakers are not deterred by criticism or polls, keep on keeping on.
Her decline in the polls to some extent call into question the tea party movement..
all of this doesnt matter to her. she knows she wont run but if she says that there is a possibility, then she can run around making money. the moment she says she wont run, then her money stops. she was a fraud from the beginning and continues to be. but there are some that keeping hanging on. they need to get a life and stop being dragged around!!! of course those are the same people that thought george bush did a good job!
They need to make an attempt to locate the 28 percent that believe Sarah Palin is qualified to be president, and take away their right to vote! They are a threat to our Republic!
45 percent of conservatives see her as qualified, down 21 points from last November.
-------------------------------
She is even down by 21 points from her on Tea Baggers supporters which is good news for the American people, but this poll is not going to stop Sara Paliln from running in 2012.
Biden questions the "breadth" of Palin's appeal, hah... so rich. Does he have any appeal beyond comic relief or morbid curiosity re his "doll-head" hair plugs. Not to mention the"breadth" of plumging approval ratings for the Pretender -in -Chief. There he is standing on the bow of the Dimo-Party SS Titanic, thinking Palin has a problem, ya can't make this stuff up.
Really?? I would have guessed 9.5 out of 10 Americans would have the brains to know she is not qualitifed for the presidency or any other public office...not even for the job as governor of Alaska!!!!
Hopefully this blowhard will fade away into obilivion sooner rather than later! GO AWAY SARAH-FAR, FAR AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
While I am not a Palin fan, it seems to me that qualifications to be President mean nothing as exhibited by the election of Obama!
You have to have to wonder about the 26% polled who think she is qualified. Are there really that many delusional souls among us? It was clear as soon as the McCain campaign announced her selection that Sarah Palin was not fit to hold any public office.
Polls are just polls . Remember the idiots that put Bush into the oval office the second time. She is playing to the same audience as Bush did. She may be the dark horse. It will be a sad day if she makes it and will only accelerate the coming of the end of the American Empire.
Fox really helped her . The Republicans seen how dumb she is.
I wouldn't mind seeing her in the Oval Office, or even the WH if it were on SNL, but not any other time. I would really enjoy seeing her in a movie, an adult movie though because they don't require a whole lot of intelligent conversation or skills, only good looks, and that's the only thing she has going for her.
No shock there!
The only people who seem interested in her are the media who make her whole circus seem bigger than it is!
Leave her in the margins – where she belongs!
The scary part is that this means 30% of the people DO think she's qualified.
What is truly amazing is the 28% that feel she IS qualified to hold national office, not the 72% who feel she is not.
How anyone who really watched the Katie Couric and the recent Fox News Sunday interviews of her and could still see her as a national office holder is VERY difficult to comprehend.
As Joe Biden stated very politely last night on the Larry King show Sarah certainly has a likeable personality but as for being qualified to be POTUS..............please!!!
If she represents the best the Republican party can put forward my guess is that they remain in big trouble!!
Obama is proving he wasn't ready either.
