According to an ABC News/Washington Post survey, 71 percent of the public say the former Alaska governor is not qualified to serve in the White House, with 26 percent saying the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee is qualified to be president. The 26 percent who say Palin is qualified is down 12 points from an ABC News/Washington Post poll from November.
Twenty-eight percent of people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey from November indicated that Palin was qualified, with 7 in 10 feeling she was not qualified to be president.
The ABC News/Washington Post poll, released Thursday morning as Palin marks her 46th birthday, also indicates that even a majority of Republicans now view Palin as not qualified to serve as commander-in-chief. According to the survey, 45 percent of conservatives see her as qualified, down 21 points from last November.
The survey also indicates that 37 percent of Americans have a favorable view of her, with 55 percent holding an unfavorable view. According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey from last month, 43 percent of the public had a favorable opinion and 46 percent had an unfavorable view of Palin.
The poll was conducted February 4-8, as Palin gave the keynote address in Nashville, Tennessee, at what was billed as the first national Tea Party convention. The survey indicates that Americans are split on the Tea Party movement, with 35 viewing the movement in a favorable way, 4 in 10 holding an unfavorable impression, and a quarter of those questioned unsure about the year old movement. A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey conducted last month indicated that 4 in 10 were unsure, with one-third holding a favorable view and one quarter having an unfavorable view of the Tea Party movement.
The ABC News/Washington Post poll indicates that 45 percent generally agree with the movement's small government positions on the issues, with 36 percent disagreeing and 1 in 5 unsure.
The ABC News/Washington Post poll was conducted by telephone, with 1,004 adults questioned. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Not a surprise here. Amrerica said No to her before. Getting a makeover and various tea party speaking events will not change opinion of her outside her base and in such a short period of time from the election. She has a lot of work to do if she is to be considered a true candidate for president.
oh my goodness she should be a talk host ! President NEVER!
She really is not qualified!
So 7 in 10 think she's not fit to be commander in chief? I wouldn't think she'd be it to be a waitress at Denny's. She'd run out of room on the palm of her hand to take the orders.
If a community organizer that joined the Senate and mostly voted "present" was qualified, than why would a former Governor not be qualified? You can not like Palin, but you can not say she is not qualified after putting Obama in office...
Don't worry, Sarah. At the rate our education system is failing and the media is dumbing down the level of intellectual discourse, it won't be long before everything is so stupid that they'll vote for anyone. Give it another ten years at most.
Thank you, John Q. Public.
We do not need someone who has studied up on the issues later in life, just to try to look knowledgeable. We need people who ALWAYS had the interest, with a HISTORY of understanding the issues and world affairs, and an intellectual curiosity that propels them to try and solve problems. If I look for a surgeon, I don't find a mechanic that's boned up on heart surgery.
So the majority feel she's not qualified. Surprise, Surprise. I didn't vote for McCain but I think he wouldn't have stood a better chance of winning if he hadn't picked a bimbo as his running mate. Palin assured his loss.
Again people, any fundy christian that believes that the earth is only 4000 years old (yes, she does) isn't qualified to breath air. Please stop giving her press time!!
I'm pretty sure I've see this exact same poll with the exact same results published dozens of times. We get it...she shouldn't be president, people think she's dumb, etc. Let's move on. No sense in beating a dead horse.
I do not understand why anyone would consider that Palin woman qualified to be President. I am afraid that it highlights the fact that there are quite a few ignorant American citizens.
Palin shouldn't even be a school teacher because that would mean she would be teaching the next generation to grow just as dumb and ignorant as she is. There is no way she will be president. Well perhaps president of a hunting club or eyeglass posse.
The poll only says that because she is NOT qualified. She has a limited education and very little knowledge of how government works. Even worse, she lacks curiosity about any of it.
At the TP convention, she said that we need a command in chief, not a professor of law. Everyone cheered because it never occurred the adoring fans that the truth is: we need both. The President takes an oath of office to defend the nation AND the Constitution.
We don't need another Commander in Chief who disregards and violates the Constitution. Palin is great a one-liners and snappy retorts but she doesn't understand the basic principles defined in our Constitution.
Her captivated posse needs to stop allowing themselves to be led by people who exploit their fear and anger.
CNN...Do you ever look at the trajectory or pattern of your stories? Everyday it is "Palin up," "Palin down," "Poll good for Palin." "Poll Bad for Palin." Blah blah. You're a joke. You are silly, silly people. Be ashamed. Be very very ashamed. Just.....stop.
Thanks CNN for mentioning the name Palin so that the crazies can release some of their anger by making stupid comments about her being racist, dumb, and a homophobe with nothing to back it up. You are a Venting ground for the kooks on the left that support the presidents socialist agenda
Please, for the love of God, let Fox alone cover Sarah. It's just too hard to read about her first thing in the morning.
7 out of 10 Americans can't be wrong. Mayor-quit, governor quit! Bad news for sarah pathetic means good news for America and Americans!
Still better than Obama where 9 out of 10 Americans feel that he is not qualified to be president...
7 out of 10 Americans are right!
I cannot possibly be the only one who feels this way but since you folks are determined to leave it out of every article about her I feel compelled to add it. It is NOT her lack of experience that scares me. It is ehr total lack of understanding of wat is important about government. It is not just her........look everyone would like to pay less in taxes. But the preable to our constitution clearly reads "in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility provide for the common defense and promote the general welfare" Let's stop pretending that any of that can be done "on the cheap" and stop whining about paying our fair share and force the corporations to pay their fair share of taxes. Now that the Supreme court has given corporations the "Rights of Citizens" let's make them pay their taxes like the rest of us.
It did not take a poll for me to know this, I felt that she was not qualified the first time I heard her speak (or attempt too). She represents the Tea Baggers well, they love her & feel that she is one of them AND so do I.
Well, waddya know! People are finally listening to what she is saying and realizing she is not qualified to be President. Of course, after her "new revolution" comment at the Tea Party convention, maybe the rest of the country should be taking a closer look at her, too!
71% of Americans feel Palin is not qualified to be president.
Whew. There's hope for America after all.
The 3 out of 10 have been following too much of FOX Nation in their diet!
yep......................................there she goes................................................
Palin and Obama appear to be the queen and king of really, really bad poll numbers.
Obviously they should BOTH get the hell out of politics and find a different profession.
