According to an ABC News/Washington Post survey, 71 percent of the public say the former Alaska governor is not qualified to serve in the White House, with 26 percent saying the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee is qualified to be president. The 26 percent who say Palin is qualified is down 12 points from an ABC News/Washington Post poll from November.
Twenty-eight percent of people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey from November indicated that Palin was qualified, with 7 in 10 feeling she was not qualified to be president.
The ABC News/Washington Post poll, released Thursday morning as Palin marks her 46th birthday, also indicates that even a majority of Republicans now view Palin as not qualified to serve as commander-in-chief. According to the survey, 45 percent of conservatives see her as qualified, down 21 points from last November.
The survey also indicates that 37 percent of Americans have a favorable view of her, with 55 percent holding an unfavorable view. According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey from last month, 43 percent of the public had a favorable opinion and 46 percent had an unfavorable view of Palin.
The poll was conducted February 4-8, as Palin gave the keynote address in Nashville, Tennessee, at what was billed as the first national Tea Party convention. The survey indicates that Americans are split on the Tea Party movement, with 35 viewing the movement in a favorable way, 4 in 10 holding an unfavorable impression, and a quarter of those questioned unsure about the year old movement. A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey conducted last month indicated that 4 in 10 were unsure, with one-third holding a favorable view and one quarter having an unfavorable view of the Tea Party movement.
The ABC News/Washington Post poll indicates that 45 percent generally agree with the movement's small government positions on the issues, with 36 percent disagreeing and 1 in 5 unsure.
The ABC News/Washington Post poll was conducted by telephone, with 1,004 adults questioned. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

As Sarah Palin marks her birthday, a new national poll indicates that 7 out of 10 Americans feel that she is not qualified to be president.."
That's encouraging because it *may* also mean that only 3 our 10 Americans are complete and total idiots.
A few simple words for the moron, your an idiot and dumber than dirt. So go back to your hole in the ground. STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID
So 7 out of 10 think she's unqualified? I seriously wonder about the 3 in 10 who think this self-righteous, ignorant, arrogant, and dim-witted dope is qualified. Then again, these people probably can’t spell their own names without flashcards, let alone have the ability to understand things like the Constitution and democracy.
Add me to the poll: NO NO NO
She would never get my vote. Is in way over her head and playing with the "big guns."
I honestly don't understand why anyone would have a favorable view of Palin. She's not qualified to be president. She wasn't qualified to be governor of Alaska. We've got to stop electing people like this to public office.
Ohhhhhhhhh. . . . and she thought she had it in the bag!!
BLAH BLAH BLAH. BLAH BLAH BLAH. BLAH BLAH BLAH.
Still beating that dead horse?
Oh come on!!! I'm popular darn it!!!
now, now, come on there. ms palin is more than qualified to be the president of the united states. we've had idiots, morons, psychopaths, clowns. why not a twit? there, that's better. i want ms palin to play the lead role in the next "presidency" show.
Bad career move. The Presidency only pays $400K. She gets $100K each time she's invited to babble and pander to Tea Partiers, not to mention FOX News stipends, kooky special interest fundraisers, etc. Once she does the math and figures out the opportunity cost (or has someone explain it to her), she'll walk away from the job... a move for which she has a proven track record.
I'm sure 7 out of 10 don't consider Obama qualified either, but that didn't stop America from voting him in.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIAR!!!
They should have saved their time and asked me, I could have told you she is not and will NEVER be qualified. Not even to take an order at the drive through of a fast food joint. She won't be able to write all of those orders on here palm.
2012 will tell the REAL POLL! The only one that counts.
Go Sarah! Go!
WOW! I cant believe it! The American public actually said something not IDIOTIC for a change.. THIS NEWS made my day.. Palin = smart as a door nob!
1,000 people and they call it a national survey? They gotta be kidding.
If Palin were elected President, I think the country would still run, but I would be afraid of those appointed to "advise" her. If you think Carl Rove took advantage of GW, you aint seen nothin yet, if she is elected. We could end up with another Rasputin situation!
If we has a country vote for Sarah Palin we might as well vote on the "Joe the plumber" and I am talking about an actual plumber who knows nothing about politics. In order for this country to change we have to vote on more than good looks and sarcasm. And by the way good looks start to fade.
At last some sanity returns to the electorate. Why would someone who wasn't qualified to run Alaska be qualified to run the country? The scarier part is what are those 26% thinking about?
As with any President, it is more about philosophy of governing and ability to appoint effective leadership surrounding you, as the leader. Obama, who has never run anything in his life, got elected on "promises". He had a reputation of making poor choices of associates, many who are in his cabinet and Czar-ship surrounding him. He has made poor choices as the "leader" and is basically being manipulated by those he is associating with.
Would Palin be able to surround herself with effective people? Can she delegate and lead properly? Does she have the right philosophy to move this country in the right direction? Can she intimidate our enemies?
I would say "yes" to the above much more confidently than Obama. He is ruining this country with his teleprompter talk and "promises"!
she is a bimbo, she needs to just go back to alaska and enjoy life, when a person has to write on there hand they really have no bus. running for president i sure would not vote for her.
You don't speak before an audience and engage in slamming people for having law degrees/higher education and then read notes written in the palm of your hand like a 3rd grader. If Palin were intelligent she certainly would have known an audience/supporters are people from all walks of life; doctors, lawyers, teachers, scientist, etc. Palin proves she has some personal issues within that only she can resolve that don't belong in a political forum. Bashing President Obama is not a political forum event.
This is welcoming news. It would seem that the majority is making it's way back to sanity. I am glad that there is only 26 percent of America that thinks she is qualified to be President, on the flip side though 26 PERCENT OF AMERICA THINKS SHE IS QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT!!!!!! What is wrong with this 26 percent? Soon people will see the Tea Party and Sarah Palin for what they really are, intolerant bigots who want everyone to think as they do and do what they do. They want America to move backwards to Colonial attitudes towards life, race, women, sex, and government. At what point do they convince everyone that Obama is nothing more than a socialist (even though they really do not know what it means) and appoint Palin as Queen and supreme over lord?
How's that "mavericky" thing workin' out for ya?
The reason that the republicans, who are now taking credit for the jobs created by the stimulus that they voted against, are getting away with their obstruction, is that the 'American Recovery and Reinvestment Act' does not have the word 'stimulus' in it. This allows Fox lies and spies to call it a failure. Their viewers are not too bright and they swallow what they are fed.
