Obama adviser suggests Cheney uninformed on national security

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/02/14/art.2shotjones0214.cnn.jpg caption="'I don’t know what his information is' Obama national security adviser James Jones said Sunday of former Vice President Dick Cheney."]
Washington (CNN) – One of President Obama’s top national security advisers suggested Sunday that former Vice President Dick Cheney, a persistent critic of the Obama administration on national security issues, might not be informed enough to criticize the White House.

Asked on CNN’s State of the Union about Cheney’s criticism of the way Obama has chosen to fight terrorism and treat terrorism suspects, national security adviser James Jones replied, “Well, you know, if it’s informed, then that’s one thing.”

Jones, a retired Marine general, continued, “It’s important that people understand that we have a sitting vice president [Joe Biden] who’s very much involved in the day-to-day operations of our national security. He’s a member of the national security council. He has access to all of the information.”

Asked by CNN Senior Political Correspondent Candy Crowley whether he considered Cheney to be informed, Jones responded, “I don’t know what his information is. I just would ask people to consider the fact that these are very serious issues for our country and that when you take them on, you take them on in a respectful way. We consult and share with both sides equally of the political spectrum and we’ll continue to do that. In the national security council, we can’t do it any other way.”

Vice President Joe Biden and former Vice President Cheney are set to square off Sunday in a television duel of sorts as the men make competing appearances on three of the Sunday political talk shows.

During an appearance on State of the Union in March of last year, Cheney said a number of Obama’s policies relating to terrorism were making the country less safe, a persistent drumbeat of criticism Cheney has kept up since then which has also been echoed by Cheney’s daughter and former State Department official Liz Cheney.

The Bush Administration had an excellent domestic security record because a great deal of work, cooperation and investment of a variety of resources. They created a successful Department of Homeland Security.

Joe Biden and Janet Napolitano have had a great success keeping an Al Qaeda bomb from blowing a plane up inbound to a large US City because it failed to fully ignite when detonated by a passenger in economy class.

Cheney has been high level secret meetings for the last couple of months with Lizzard Cheney. They have both emerged now with the results of those meetings and they will be correct in their findings because they are the Cheneys.

Only problem is that I trust more in the mythical character Darth Vader than I do in the Cheneys with their "Mythical" minds. If it wsre left up to me, I would give them both to the Taliban and tell them to demand a ransom for them so I could refuse.

Cheney show us what his moral values were for eight years and considering how many times he broke the law and violated the constitution, he belongs in jail. But the republicans think he should be their spokesman; tells you where their heads are at.

TCM? Disconnect from the Republican umbilical cord. Start again with Sesame Street and work your way back through grades 1 – 12 and this time learn to think for yourself and come to your own conclusions.

katiec......Civilian courts tried 828 terrorists with a 88% conviction rate. Military, 20 with a 15% success. And, with the 3 convicted, 2 were released. Yet the republicans continue to obstruct and, as usual, totally disregard facts and success.

Perhaps some convicted in civilian courts were innocent. I suppose you've never heard of some convicted being released years later because of innocence proven. Further, perhaps those unconvicted by the military tribunals were, indeed, innocent. I sure wouldn't want YOU to be on ANY jury!

Hey Four in the Door, Bush didn't have the greatest record on national security that I remember? Wasn't there a big terrorist attack that the administration heard about before hand and has since admitted? I can't remember when it was....sometime in September. Its not like Obama is sitting in a room watching a million security cameras...his administration is doing a fine job on security.

I listened to that interview and how Candy kept rewording the question to try and get something. She never did but now Ticker misrepresents the whole interview. CNN is losing it and Crowley does not have the smarts fior her own show. BYE>>

Bush/Cheney nearly doubled the deficit in 8 years. In 2009, working under Bush's last budget and still paying for 2 wars, the deficit continued to climb. It will take years to recover, especially with a public that is unwilling to take responsibility.

We have begun to regain the respect and cooperation of our allies......

In Dec. 2008, we had a record number of jobs lost, nearly 800,000! In Jan. 2009, nearly 700,000 jobs lost. The number of jobs lost last month was down to less that 70,000 – still too many – but it is turning around.

Healthcare costs are still dragging the economy down. Small businesses cannot afford to continue to offer benefits to employees.

The number of jobs lost is at least down to under 70,000 and the economy is beginning to show signs of improving, but the war and healthcare costs must be controlled to make more progress.

But the media and wingnuts want to talk about teleprompters and whether someone is "elite" – a buzzword for "educated" (and when did that become such a bad thing?) They want to ridicule and take potshots but has anyone heard what they are offering in the way of solutions?

Me neither. When Republicans refuse to vote for policies that THEY cosponsered, there's really some wrong-thinking going on in their Party.

Gazzzmannn ..........Obama will go down, when we get attacked in the United States again,

He's already done it! Take a look at the economy.......Bush left him with a managable deficit and 0'bammy has managed to multiply it by a billionfold..........Our kids and grand kids will be paying off 0'bammys debts .

It's time once again to try to get the republicans to pull their heads from the dark hole. I hear them criticize Obama based on what "might" happen because of his policies. I'm not sure if you all remember but we actually "did" get attacked when Bushman and Dick were in the drivers seat. You're entitled to your opinions but your not entitled to your own facts. If you all were even remotely relevent then you would have won more the one popular vote since 1988. That is a fact. We've lost thousands of valuable lives during 9/11 attacks and the subsequent wars under Bush. That is a fact. Our spending increased, our debt increased, our unemployment increased under Bush. That is a fact. You can have dreams of apple pie, Jesus, and the American flag but the fact is you don't have the intelligence level that it takes to successfully run a country. Now you can stop creating posts defending Dick Cheny. It's an insult to civilized society.

Wow TCM, you literally just butchered the English language and used every already debunked, ignorant argument against Obama in the books all in one post. Congrats and steer clear of having opinions because if people like you were in charge we would be living out the movie Idiocracy.

The GOP strategy was Lie, lie, lie, lie, fabricate evidences, lie no matter what even if it's create hypocrisy because they know most of the American get news from sound bites or commentators looking for rating and the more you lie, some uninformed and confused people will believe in the lie.
Now the democrats strategy is call them up on their lies, show their hypocrisy and challenge them openely and publicly with the cameras rolling. Now they are confused because the public is going to know what they are all about about and surely their credibility will plumbed. They can't hide too because if you don't show up to court you are guilty.

Whatever! I think Cheney has more intelligence than anyone in this administration. Especially Homeland Security Head Napolitano. She still doesn't see any terrorist threats. Is that telegraphed from the White House? Any normal citizen sees the threat.

It would seem to me that Osama Bin Laden has already accomplished his goal of causing the Great Satan a tumultuous economic downfall. We are broke, we have a Nation of debt unlike any other and our economy is now totally dependent upon a foreign Nation, China. This was not created by Bush and Cheney, nor was it created by Obama, although both contributed to it in unfounded ways. This has been nearly 50 years in the making by bad political and economic decisions by our so called leaders, megacorporations and greedy WS bankers. I have always thought of our Nation like a favorite fishing hole, once you show it or tell about it to others, it becomes overcrowded, overfished and no longer a viable place to catch fish! If you don't think Cheney knows what is going on, well then you don't know diddley about the DC network!

For the last year I've wondered where Dick gets his info. After all, he thinks he knows more about the current state of national security than President Obama or the military in charge. And his daughter too – who is she to get access to any type of national security info? My guess is they are getting it from the same place Karl Rove got his math – his azz.

Shut up and go away, Dick. Anyone who deferred to serve out great nation 5 times does not have our best interests at heart. You are not helping. And neither is your creepy daughter.

Bush left him with a managable deficit and 0'bammy has managed to multiply it by a billionfold
Yeah, Bush left with a $1.2 trillion deficit (manageable) and Obama multiplied it to $1.4 trillion. Never mind all that infra-structure stuff, funding for medical sciences and tax cuts for 90% of the population that $0.2 trillion cost. Must be that fuzzy math you wingnuts love so much.

Uncle Dick is a doddering old fool who should stop playing politics with issues about which he is totally uninformed.

Were Glenn Beck correct about the Obama administration – Cheney and he would have disappeared months ago, never to be heard from again.

    Off teleprompter, 0'bammy stumbles

Like the way he stumbled when he shredded apart the GOP during the nationally televised meeting two weeks back. I guess you may have missed that one since Fox News had to switch away because of the beating the GOP was taking.
