Obama adviser suggests Cheney uninformed on national security

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/02/14/art.2shotjones0214.cnn.jpg caption="'I don’t know what his information is' Obama national security adviser James Jones said Sunday of former Vice President Dick Cheney."]
Washington (CNN) – One of President Obama’s top national security advisers suggested Sunday that former Vice President Dick Cheney, a persistent critic of the Obama administration on national security issues, might not be informed enough to criticize the White House.

Asked on CNN’s State of the Union about Cheney’s criticism of the way Obama has chosen to fight terrorism and treat terrorism suspects, national security adviser James Jones replied, “Well, you know, if it’s informed, then that’s one thing.”

Jones, a retired Marine general, continued, “It’s important that people understand that we have a sitting vice president [Joe Biden] who’s very much involved in the day-to-day operations of our national security. He’s a member of the national security council. He has access to all of the information.”

Asked by CNN Senior Political Correspondent Candy Crowley whether he considered Cheney to be informed, Jones responded, “I don’t know what his information is. I just would ask people to consider the fact that these are very serious issues for our country and that when you take them on, you take them on in a respectful way. We consult and share with both sides equally of the political spectrum and we’ll continue to do that. In the national security council, we can’t do it any other way.”

Vice President Joe Biden and former Vice President Cheney are set to square off Sunday in a television duel of sorts as the men make competing appearances on three of the Sunday political talk shows.

During an appearance on State of the Union in March of last year, Cheney said a number of Obama’s policies relating to terrorism were making the country less safe, a persistent drumbeat of criticism Cheney has kept up since then which has also been echoed by Cheney’s daughter and former State Department official Liz Cheney.

Joe Biden is very much involved in the day-to-day operations of our national security? We're doomed.

Al-Queda recently announced they would be ramping down their efforts to pursue the destruction of America. They felt at a disadvantage to America's Right-wing, who are better funded and more organized in their pursuit of the destruction of America.

For crying out loud, Brenda. Bush created 177 executive orders, the majority protecting big business, trying to destroy our national parks for drilling and raping the environment.
    Your indignation is hypocritical.

Before Obama, Bush was irrelevant in the WH and Cheney ran the show. Now Cheney is irrelevant. I don't know how anyone with an ounce of brains could care what Cheney does or says except maybe his wife. He is opne truly evil man!

We do not need Cheney to see what has happened in Yemen while the president was busy bowing to Arab dictators! Or that the Christmas attacker being only stopped by a Dutch passenger who prevented a big disaster that could have finished the chance of second term for this administration! Or that China does not count the US as a respectful country any more!
Why blame Cheney or Bush: this administration has been in office for over a year and i is still in a state of unorganized dysfunctional start-up!

I get a kick that Cheney is so pro waterbording. Mr. Tough guy. You would think he would want to take the terrorists to NYC, in the face of where the twin towers existed, and put them on trial, get a conviction the way we Americans hold dearly.

Chloe..........hillcoguy, Nancy G doesn't need to be in the military to call out a hypocrite who "..had other priorities in the '60s than military service."[

So! You're one of those who believe that the Guard is NOT military service? Google up WWII and see who fought and died as the first responders. Your local grocery store employees, your local politicos, your local doctors and lawyers your local citizens all, all in the guard and citizen soldiers who defended this country until a formal trained Army could be mustered! So cast your aspersions at the guard, but they defended YOUR tush!

The President and his people have to start shouting it from the rafters. These Republicans such as Cheney caused such grief for the American people. The Democrats have to take off their gloves and not be such nice guys....as that apparently doesn't hold weight with too many people. They forget quickly and unfortunately the current administration has to remind the public of the recent past. It is a waste of their energies but it must be done.

Is this the same "Dick" that started a war so that his company "Halliburton" could profit from it. Isn't that corrupt. Almost criminal?
    Didn;t this individual support torturing?
Wasn't this dude involved in getting a few planeloads of terrorist families out of the country during 9/11?
Wasn't this person involved in antiterrorism when the worst attack in US history occured?
"Dick", you seem to have run out of innovative ideas for the 21st century. Getting a bit tired of you and all the Republicants with simply saying NO to absolutely everything the opposition does.
I presume someone came up with this winning strategy for the Repugs. for every Tea Bagger to say no to everything, even the stuff you used to agree to.
Hopefully every independent thinking individual will see this as simple obstruction, totally void of intelligent opposition. BTW,
How is that "just say no to everythingy" thingy workin' out for ya??

Cheney didn't "know" what was going on when he ws the VP. Cheney operated on directions he gave for operations to be followed and cared not about what the boots on the ground were telling him.

Are we to believe that anything Cheney has to say about the current state of affairs in Afghanistan has any credibility? Well, I'll relieve any of you who think he does. He doesn't – period!!! He is neither privvy, nor should be, to any of the intelligence or daily briefings, so everything out of his mouth is pure speculation. Interesting how the Right hangs on that and not the facts of the day. Of course, that's how this crowwd got elected, too, so nobody should be surprised really.

Cheney's main function as VP was to ensure Halliburton's place at the great table of greed, and he succeeded in that directing the meteoric rise in three years of Halliburton from 37th out of 41 defense contractor companies to 2nd only to Martin-Marietta. Only Microsoft experienced that style of meteoris rise. The fact that Cheney is the former CEO of Halliburton is purely coincidental, too, right?! So is the fact that they triple billed for the same services and got 'em paid to, right?!

Frankly, I don't pay much attention to what Cheney says, but he has the right to say it. The truth is, however, that Dick Cheney has twice the brain power of Joe Biden. Everytime Biden opens HIS mouth, I just shake my head in wonderment that someone like him actually made it to one step below the presidency.

Cheney has been out of the WH for over a year. He knows nothing of what is going on now. He should just shut his yap and not show his nasty, partisan GOP political agenda. Cheney just go away! We don't need you anymore!

It's is truly sad how quickly so many people have forgotten how they were manipulated by the Reign of Terror during 2000-2008. They don't even care how many laws were broken by these 'leaders' under the false guise of National Security. Like so many blind sheep they were, and apparently still are, willing to forfeit any and all of their Constitutional Rights, enabling the absolute worst administration this nation has ever known. Their reasoning isn't really very clear, but a sickness of this kind has origins deep in the subconscious mind. They aren't even aware on a conscious level, just how insecure they became after 9/11. "Don't let this happen again...we will give you Anything!" In exchange for (false) promises of security the relinquished their most prized possession... their Freedom. These same foolish people would most likely would have allowed these two to continue trashing the Constitution to shreds. They'd be willing to go as far as accepting an end to administrative term limits, bestowing a permanent dictatorship upon these two.

It is truly disturbing to watch what is happening to so many American people. I can only pray they will awaken from this trance they've been under before it's too late.
