Next Tea Party convention to be held in Las Vegas

(CNN) - The Tea Party is headed to Las Vegas this summer.

Tea Party Nation, the group that earlier this month held what was billed as the first national Tea Party convention, said Wednesday that its second convention will be held in Las Vegas July 15-17.

Judson Phillips, a Tennessee lawyer who formed Tea Party Nation, announced the date at a news conference during the first event, which was held earlier this month in Nashville, Tennessee. But he did not reveal the location.

"President Obama told Americans not to go to Las Vegas so that is exactly where Tea Party Nation will be holding our next event," Tea Party Nation said in a statement.

That's a reference to recent comments made by the president. Earlier this month, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada told the White House to "lay off Las Vegas" after Obama slighted the city during a riff about government spending. The president's comments also sparked condemnations from Nevada Republicans.

In addition to speakers and political trainers at the convention, the Las Vegas event will "also be presenting the first Tea Party Nation Conservative Film Festival," according to the Tea Party Nation.

Again the Presidents' statement misconstrued by those w/ a divisive agenda. The President last year told business leaders, (who had been bailed out, and was having a business retreat in LV) to not go......B/c of how the meeting looked to the public......He then told college students to use their money wisely......Instead of blowing cash in LV, use it for tuition......
Hope will win over Fear......Facts, over fiction........President Obama is not perfect.......but he is the man for this day and age...
    Obama/Biden 2012.......
You teabaggers want a fight, you will have one!!!!! A fight to the polls.

Hypocrites! Obama was preaching "fiscal responsibility" when he made that comment (not to mention common sense). You know, that thing Republicans are always complaining about us not practicing. He said (and I'm paraphrasing), you don't go gamble away a bunch of money in Vegas when you're experiencing financial difficulty–ie being fiscally responsible. Oh heck, why did I even bother to respond to this–it's not like anyone really cares about the truth or context anymore...

This tea party group don't have a clue what they are talking about nor could they care less about the struggles of the American people. All talk with no substance.

Someone please list all the thing Palin did and concern she expressed for special needs children prior to having one herself. Yeah. Thought so. Republicans/conservatives don't give a d-mn about anything until it's in their back yard (or moving in next door).

In fact, based on the 2007 budget in Alaska (before Palin) and the 2008 and 2009 budgets (both hers), she cut funding for special needs schools by approximatelly 62%.

Always remember: those pretending to be most pious are usually the ones feeling the most guilty.

Obama's next comment should be, "If you disagree with me, please don't go and jump off a bridge......."

Silly tea partiers. Obama told us to avoid Las Vegas. That comment should really help Reid when Obama campaigns with him.

This group would like you to think that they are average Americans fighting for the rights of all. Although I do agree with them on some issues as far as government spending, had it not been for the sham on America with WMD maybe we wouldn't have spent trillions already on a war that was fabricated to get to oil fields under Iraqi control. As far as average Americans, they are average only if you are white, christian, and still dream of supremacy. In reality they are the new minority in America, and this last election proved it. They just cannot come to grips with it, and there anger at being # 2 is just crippling for their huge overblown egos.

They will certainly fit right in with Vegas. Where do they get Obama telling Americans to not go to Vegas? Are these people that simple that they failed to grasp the bigger message?

Why not go to the land of excess? But does it really fit in with the fiscal conservatism that the Tea Bag Party image it wants to promote or is this more of a show of disunity with President Obama. I have heard that rates for conventions are pretty good there.

Geez, not too predictable are they? Go to Las Vegas because Obama said not too! Wow....what true renegades....shaping the future! I've seen more mature 3rd graders. Sad part is we all love a freak show so they continue to get desired press. What if we all start supporting the change that this country needs, face the fact that we have to pay for some of our debt and look to the future. Tea baggers are a bunch of whiners with no concrete solutions and no way to pay for their ideology.

  21. If you want something ruined, put a republican in charge

Now that the republican party is controlled by the tea baggers, I think Fox has accomplished most of their goals in destroying America. What they fail to realize, the majority of Americans are not fragile and afraid, and will not give up their freedoms in the name of fear and hate.

The tea party is for the losers in this country. People that have no clue about what is going on. They just go where to these locations so they can look IGNORANT in front of any camera they can find. The whole lot of them should be thrown out of the USA. Traitors one and all. Not to mention most are cowards.

Actually, my bet is that they are having it in Vegas because Sarah Palin will already be in Vegas speaking at a Bowling Expo. It has nothing to do with the President and everything to do with Sarah's schedule.

  25. If you want something ruined, put a republican in charge

Do the right wingnuts ever stop to think why the market is up, Americans feel safer with Obama and national security, job losses are no longer 750,000 a month, even republican congressmen are taking credit for the stimulus creating jobs in their districts after voting against it, and we have had more success in Afghanistan under Obama in one year than under 8 years of Bush?
