Presidential records now include tweets

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/02/17/art.gibbs.file.gi.jpg caption="Robert Gibbs announced Wednesday his tweets will be saved."]Washington (CNN) – White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs announced Wednesday that his tweets will be saved for posterity.

"What I write and what I tweet is archived as a part of this Presidential Records Act of 1978 because it is work product created as part of my job at the White House," Gibbs said during his daily press briefing due to questions raised by reporters on this issue.

The press secretary is not the only official at the White House with a Twitter account. Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton tweets, as well as Macon Philips who runs new media operations for the White House. @WhiteHouse is their flagship account with over 1.7 million followers.

All four accounts feature the following disclaimer: "Official WH twitter account. Comments & messages received through official WH pages are subject to the PRA and may be archived. Learn more http://wh.gov/privacy."

Gibbs explained that people who follow and "re-tweet" White House Twitter accounts will not be archived. However, the archive will keep people who directly respond to official accounts.

"It's analogous to sending an e-mail to the White House, which is already archived," Gibbs said.

Oh boy, this is good to know that all these tweets will be saved for posterity.
Let's see, Gibbs, Burton and Philips, how about archiving all their tweets in the offical White House bird brain file. I think that is a fitting name.

The thoughts of Obama and the idiots he has working for him aren't worth a tweet. Save the taxpayers some money and don't archive these usless tweets. Who will ever care?

Will the President's tweets be archived even though they originate in the basement of MoveOn.org or someplace like that?

How does this help? When is the government going to focus on creating jobs and getting the economy moving again? That's the number 1 priority, not Twitter.

I find it hard to believe anything that can be said in 140 character snippets is at all historic...especially when it comes from a guy who can't put two sentences together without a teleprompter.

Do Presidential Records also include the shopping list he writes on his hand? He showed it off in an official Press Conference, so apparently it had something to do with The White House.

( ..and yes, this is being posted sarcastically )

All Presidents push their agendas RICK including Bush/Cheney promoting Iraq War based on lies, lies, lies...before we even finished the job in Afganistan. Don't tell us about propaganda when the Bush/Cheney thugs had their fascist agents at ClusterFox working 24/7 to promote their lies.

Tweets for Twits. LOL. God, this administration is a joke. But hey, at least OBOZO could say he created a job. Hooray!!! With each passing day it is becoming more and more obvious that the mid terms will be the end of the anti American Radical Libtards reign in Congress. Most likely forever. As for Obozo, he is like a science experiment that has gone completely wrong. One and Done? Only if he is lucky. Most likely impeachment will occur before 2012. Are liberals born stupid or is it contracted like most diseases? Hopefully scientists will be able to answer that soon.
