Cheney and Cheney team up at CPAC

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/02/18/art.cheney.cpac.gi.jpg caption="Dick Cheney made a surprise appearance Thursday at CPAC."]Washington (CNN) - Former Vice President Dick Cheney earned a standing ovation Thursday at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, proclaiming "Barack Obama is a one term president."

Cheney, who was not scheduled to appear, received a warm welcome from the unsuspecting crowd and joked, "A welcome like that is almost enough to make me want to run for office again ... but I'm not going to do it."

During his brief remarks, the former vice president focused on recent Republican electoral success and the future of the conservative movement.

"There are some great years ahead of us. It is very, very important that we succeeed, and I'll do everything I can, but most especially I want to encourage that younger generation," Cheney said. "It really is a remarkable time to be a conservative."

The former vice president was introduced by his daughter Liz Cheney, a former State Department official and founding member of the group Keep America Safe. Liz Cheney used her time at the podium to launch a series of biting critiques of Obama administration policies.

"In the year that President Obama has been in office we have learned a lot, haven't we?" Cheney asked the audience. "We've learned he is not going to govern from the center, we've learned he doesn't believe in American exceptionalism, and he is going to travel the world apologizing for this great nation."

Cheney also singled out Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Obama homeland security and counterterrorism adviser John Brennan over their handling of Al Qaeda in Yemen, saying "there is no polite way to put this, but that kind of incompetence gets people killed."

"That kind of incompetence gets people killed"? You have got to be joking. Why don't you bring up and analyze how many of our fine young men and women HAVE BEEN KILLED BECAUSE OF YOUR LIES, INCOMPETENCE, AND GREED Dick?

For people like Cheney, from his far right-wing fascist viewpoint, the center (where Obama is governing from) appears to be very far to the left. And how much incompetence did it take to ignore the warnings about an imminent Al Qaeda attack using airplanes? That was the best thing that ever happened to Bush and Cheney. What a great excuse to grab power and shred the Constitution. The man is an utter failure and should be in prison—and why anyone would listen to his daughter is beyond me.

I get tired of hearing Cheney lie constantly. They made up facts and lied to start a war and should be jailed for life for that. But again, Cheney lies to say ONLY Republicans love America and think we're great. Guess he missed the HUNDREDS of times Obama has praised our nation, called it the greatest, said we have the greatest economy, greatest hearts, etc.

How can you tell if a Republican is lying? Their mouths are moving...

Liz Cheney will be an excellent asset for the new conservative administration in 2012. I am personally grateful for Dick Cheney's strength in helping to keep America safe during his term as VP.
They are a warm and gracious American family, and patriots that do more than talk, they continue to work to make this country great.

The fact that someone who started a needless war, compromised many of the freedoms we enjoy thru our right to privacy, advocates torture, and promoted the environment of greedy corporations that nearly brought this country to its knees – I find it hard to believe that anyone would still listen to him let alone give him a standing ovation. Dick Cheney and the former administration has no credibility when it comes to what is right, wrong, or true. It just goes to show how out of touch conservatives really are.

Although I do not agree with Obama – I do believe that the Republican party must come to the table with concrete ideas as to how to fix the mess that the United States is in – and I do think they can if all the nonsense stops – the bickering between the parties, name calling, basically both Democrats and Republicans acting like 5-year olds in the school yard. In all my years of life – I have never heard so much whining and sniping between Democrats and Republicans. It is a true embarassment to our country – and it must stop now! The American people are tired of it. Both parties must do their jobs and represent the people – not themselves!

He wasn't apologizing for "this great nation," he was apologizing for the dumb__s mistakes your administration made.

There is no polite way to put this, but your kind of incompetence gets people killed and drives our nation into insurmountable debt.

As this cockroach is the closet thing this country has ever had to a fascist dictator I welcome his remarks. Want to guarantee an Obama victory in 2012? Give Palin a 24 hr cable show and make this cretin a regular contributor.

Cheney choses to endanger and degrade our nation again and again.
Not once did they NOT read Miranda rights to their "terrorists" or charge them in military courts, except two incidences that later got shunted to our civilian courts anyway. But he would have us beleive that Obama not doing so is treason. Well, by his own definition, he is a traitor. And that fits him in many other ways as well. He is an enemy of this great country and would rather see it destroyed then see the party and president his party lost to succeed for all the sake of all of us.

Dick Cheney is living in a fantasy world. He and Bush are responsible for the most number of needless deaths of Americans than any other president and vice president in our history. Yet, to listen to Cheney you realize that he either is a tremendous liar or simply has no clue as to what happened during his disastrous 8 years in office. Whichever one it is, he needs to go away and let our present president try and fix the mess that Bush and Cheney made of this country and the world.

"Obama is a one term president" If Cheney is so good a telling the future, why didn't he prevent the 9/11 attacks, or the total meltdown of the US economy when he was in office???

The usual crappola dripping out of the mouth of Cheney.
His only passtime these days seem to be rewriting history and attempting to cover up the blantant lies, hypocrisy, arrogance, and off-shore nation building during (and continuing) the Bush – Cheney era.

The man is a bum. It is time that he crawled back under his right-wing extremist rock.

For all the Cheney's faults he helped our country. Obama's conistent pandering as a centrist and acting otherwise has made him out to be a outright liar. God bless Obama and I want nothing but the best for him as our President but so far he has been a complete failure.
