Bachmann says Obama leading America into decline

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/02/19/art.bachmann.file.gi.jpg caption="Rep. Michele Bachmann blasted President Obama's economic policies Friday."](CNN) - Rep. Michele Bachmann blasted President Obama's economic policies Friday and declared he is leading America into a state of "decline" during her 30-minute speech before conservative activists.

"I want to discuss a topic that's been on my heart a lot lately…decline in America," the Minnesota Republican told the crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference. "The concept that has been coming to me over the last few weeks is that the joy of being an American is that we get to choose…our destiny, whether it's decline or it's greatness."

Citing conservative writer Charles Krauthammer, Bachmann said the president has indicted "America for arrogance, decisiveness, divisiveness toward Europe, for maltreatment toward natives, for torture, for Hiroshima, for Guantanamo Bay, for unilateralism, and for insufficient respect for the Muslim world."

"I think we are all going to need a self-esteem course or two after that litany and we can't blame anyone for feeling despondent in the midst of all that," Bachmann quipped. "Decline happens, even to a great nation."

Bachmann also took aim at Democratic efforts at health care reform and cap-and-trade policies designed to combat global warming during her red-meat speech, saying such measures will keep the country's economy on "an unsustainable path."

"We are looking at serious long-term damage to the economy and the well being of our people. We really need to sober up…the only people with the power to change this very bad diagnosis is President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Harry Reid," Bachmann said. "I wonder what the odds are in Vegas of that happening."

  1. FYI

FYI the act that allowed FDIC banks to buy shady loans from anyone with a pulse was signed into law by Bill Clinton in 1999. Can't blame Bush for that one. Gramm-Leach-Bliley

This was a bipartisan screw up. Pushed by republicans, signed into law by Bill Clinton.

Obama has repeatedly bashed this. This is the reason the country is falling apart and it's a GOP and democrat screwup. Put the koolaid down and learn to think for yourselves.

She could be right. As long as people in Minnesota keep sending a total wacko ignoramus to Congress, we will be declining as a great country. If she and her idiot supporters have their way, the US of A will become a third world fascist power with the biggest military. Sort of like the mentality we had in Iraq. She, the ancient Texan and the guy from San Diego commenting below must have been asleep when the Chaney/Bush fiasco led us down an economic disaster started by Reagan. Deregulate and you have a crude Capitalist free for all with financial bankers getting huge rewards for failure. I find it incredible that the stench coming from this Republican party can't and is unwilling to remedy this embarrassment. But as long as the Bachmanns and Pawlentys and Romneys and Limbaughs keep getting their fanatical, almost Taliban like exposure, there will be lemmings to push us all over a cliff. The moral compass has to be reset again to what America truly stands for and we have been an embarrassment for the past 8 years. Chaney, the Anti-Christ is raising his snarling face and he has followers.
Bachmann, register as a foreign agent and be truthful for the FIRST TIME.

Notice who GOP is all about "WIN ... WIN ... WIN!"?

Don't know about you but sounds more like the GOP are the ones trying to convince themselves that are on track.

I dare the GOP to invite Obama back for another "open discussion" again. So they can get another ass whoppin' in truth and civility!
