(CNN) – Dr. James Dobson, founder of the conservative Focus on the Family organization, endorsed Texas Gov. Rick Perry for re-election Monday.
"Over the years, Gov. Perry has established a record that is consistently pro-life, pro-marriage and pro-religious liberty," Dobson said in a written statement. "No other candidate in this race measures up to the high standards established by Gov. Perry on these critical issues of our day."
Perry is locked in a primary race against Texas Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison. Hutchison was recently endorsed by former President George H.W. Bush.
Jesus – save us from those democrats that want to do good for the little people – send us your money – and send your kids to war so we can make big profits thru haliburton and other no bid contracts. Amen
So Texan voters are supposed to take the advice of a man who got bent out of shape over a video promoting tolerance (Spongebob is gay, right Dobson)? Im not sure who is the bigger joke, the homophobe or the secessionist...either way, both need to go away.
I'm certainly no Rick Perry fan but...
I don't care if Perry had even sold his gramma off to the circus for drinking money... Kay Bailey voted for the bailout. Not Perry.
Sorry Kay... don't even bother coming home, we don't have any bailouts for you to sign down here. Nor do we want any. Stay with your buddies up in Washington.
If the people of Texas are dim enough to elect Perry over Hutchison, maybe we should just toss them out instead of waiting for secession.
So what? One extremist fundie loser endorses another extremist fundie loser. These people cannot keep their religion out of our government therefore we must keep these people out of our government.
Texans have had it with right-wing extremist Republicans and the writing is on the wall.
I'll take Gov. Perry over Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison any day and I'll take either one of them over former Houston Sanctuary Mayor Bill White.
Dobson is a total nut-case.
I can't believe that I used to be an ardent follower of his – listened to him, bought his books...Those were the days when he was truly a man of God. He has since grabbed hold of Mammon and become a right-wing-nut extremist. Imagine supporting Governor Perry ... another nut job who wants Texas to secede from the USA! Good luck Texas if you continue to put such crazy people in office!
Well thank you Jesus.
CNN SO much news about the Republicans......... are you, now Faux news? Who cares who Dobson endorses, when the majority of Americans think he is a far-right-extremist?
I hope this endorsement ensures Perry's loss. Dobson is a shill.
Oh, I bet he does. These good ole christian boys stick together. What hypocrites, and a disgrace to all christian people.
Dobson's endorsement is enough to make me NOT vote for Perry. Thanks for helping to make up my mind for me.
Dobson should love Perry and his hard right conservative bent. Perry represents all things fundamental to a theocracy. Dobson should focus on heterosexual families and stop brow beating gay families. He has created a wave of inferiority complexes for a whole generation of gay youth. He has broken the spirits of countless young and impressionable individuals with his continuous hammering away through conservative media on the sins of homosexuality, while mostly ignoring the sad and pathetic state of broken heterosexual families in this country. He has tried in vain to paint the religious majority in this country as the new victims. It takes a lot of guts to stand up and paint a fake picture of the church as the underdog in order to elevate yourself and your kind in the eyes of God at the expense of "others". Life is so short and two consenting adults should be able to love each other. I know this is a little off topic from the Perry endorsement, but Dobson has built his career on gay-bashing and that is exactly what his endorsements mean to those who are opposed to his brand of mean-spirited political involvement.
James Dobson needs to realize that he does not speak for every family, just the misguided flock that follow this wingnut.
NO one cares are suprised by this
Gov. Perry can't be pro-life, pro- marriage AND pro-religious liverty, because the latter is a direct contradiction of the frist two stances.
Gov. Perry can't be pro-life, pro- marriage AND pro-religious liberty, because the latter is a direct contradiction of the first two stances.

So pro-life, pro-marriage & pro-religious liberty trump jobs, energy, and health care?! Dobson=NUT CASE!
Pro Life, Pro Family, Pro Religious Libery.........we need people who are Knowledgeable and know how to run the States Finances, the States problems........we don't need more religious zealots running any part of our government whether it be in the States or DC.....seperate Church and State now........
I'm 'pro' marriage too.. That is why I support gay marriage – or more correctly stated, marriage equality.
nothing like the kiss of death.
James Dobson should focus on his own family and leave the rest of America out of his bigoted, hateful views!
Perry better catch up with RUBIO who's in SC campaigning for WHAT??? This Rubio YOUNG whipper-SNAPPER is no joke!!! It's GREAT to see the REPUKES fight!!
While I think Kay has been a fairly good senator, I also believe Perry has done Texas a good job. I can't see firing a man who is a good Conservative Texan, and a patriotic American.
Don't forget Gov. Perry has has also been pro-playing GOD when it comes to the death penalty, and pro seccesion. BTW pro-religious is a joke – Dobson means pro-Christian at the expense of other religions. Support Hutchinson.
