Boehner imagines being Speaker

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/02/26/art.boehner.youtube.jpg caption="John Boehner, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid all answered questions posed by YouTube users Friday."]Washington (CNN) - In his speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference last week, House Minority Leader John Boehner asked the crowd to imagine what Congress would look like if he became Speaker of the House - a prospect that has become more likely as the political environment sours for Democrats.

A confident-sounding Boehner continued to float that possibility on Thursday after the bipartisan health care summit with President Obama in a post-meeting question and answer session with YouTube users. Video of his chat which was posted Friday morning.

"If I become Speaker of the House, we are going to run the House differently, different from the current majority and from past Republican ones," he promised, answering a question from a YouTube user who demanded that legislators read lengthy bills before voting on them.

"And if I become Speaker there will be a 72 hour reading period before any bill is brought to the floor," the Ohio Republican added, repeating a pledge he made at CPAC.

"We don't need these really big bills," he said. "We can keep these bills smaller, more targeted, so that people actually can read them and understand what they are voting on before they come to the floor."

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also sat down for interviews with YouTube users after the health care summit.

Bohener is a truly stupid, thickwitted man. Don't the Republicans have anybody better than this embarrassing dullard that they could put as their front guy? He's the Republican equivalent of Harry Reid, and Reid has proven to be a big mistake as a Dem leader.

we are in serious trouble if this man becomes speaker.

This is one idiot who needs to go and never come back.

This man is not at all impressive. While I am disappointed at the mediocrity of Democratic leadership and very disappointed in Democratic timidity, I am absolutely amazed that Conservatives choose leaders with absolutely no special qualities of any kind.

I could go into any mall in Texas and find a more capable person to be Speaker of the House than Boehner. Look at Texas as an example. My fellow Texans have chosen Perry, Hutchison, and Cornyn as leaders. I would not hire any of them to manage a shoe store.

Having John Boehner as Speaker of the House would be like giving a bank robber the keys to the bank. Watching the soap opera as it plays out every day in Washington not only makes me wonder what the voters of this country think about when they vote but also makes me wonder if Washington will ever be "fixed" or if we'll just get to sit here and watch as our country is destroyed by people like Boehner.

I watched the entire the summit till 4.30 pm. Having concluded I say this John Boehner is a total idiot....no doubt. GOP want to defeat the legislation. That's it. They broke the nation by taking the nation to needless Iraq war, now, this. Health care is a stepping stone for the nation to prosper. It is a desperate now. Pass this health care reform without these idiots, GOP. Ok, Pres. obama, you pass this. you have people's verdict for elections. My vote for you if you sign the bill. GOP is sold out to NRA then, now to Insurance and hospital thugs...ok. Pass this health care bill and then talk further.

Yeah right, kind of like how the Repubs said things would have been different when they ran things back from 1995-2007.

...promises, promises, promises .... too many people remember what the republican congress was really like ... !!! republicans locked the doors and didn't let democratic committee members in! Tom "the hammer" Delay?

We may need more balance in Congress but Boehner's leadership isn't what the country needs... more "death panel" lies ... more fear and smear –

He can also imagine actually working FOR A LIVING. He can imagine helping the American people by not being such a mean-spirited partisan obstructionist. In sum he can IMAGINE any number of things, NONE of which would be true.

Keep imagining Bonehead. You will not become the Speaker because majority of Americans, especially me, think that you & McClown are all behind all of the obstruction in Congress.

The illusions of grandieur know no bounds. Ron Paul would be a much better speaker than orange-face fake-tan Boner, because Ron Paul believes in a smaller government. Boner just wants a big government under neocon Republican leadership.
