Pelosi on midterms: 'We're fighting for every seat'
Washington (CNN) – Even as her Republican counterpart continues to openly discuss replacing her, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says House Democrats are not yielding any ground when it comes to November’s midterm elections.
“The Democrats will retain the majority in the House of Representatives,” Pelosi says in an interview set to air Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union.
Pelosi adds, “I'm not yielding one grain of sand, we're fighting for every seat.”
The California Democrat told CNN Senior Political Correspondent Candy Crowley that in campaigning for November’s elections Democrats need to be aggressive in explaining to the public everything the party has done.
“So Democrats are ready. We're confident of that - what we have done for the American people. We have to get out there. We've been working hard, now we have to go out. We said we were going to do certain things, we did them. Now we have to go talk about what we have done.”
With the populist anger rising over the last year about the $700 billion Wall Street bailout, an $862 billion stimulus bill that Republicans say failed to deliver the promised job creation, and Democrats’ ambitious plans for comprehensive health care reform legislation, many political observers believe Democrats will face a tough environment in the upcoming midterms later this year.
House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, has not been shy about his hopes for the midterms. Twice in roughly the last week, the leading House Republican has discussed how the chamber might operate differently if he is in charge as the next speaker.

All the Republicans care is about power and getting reelected. They do not want Health Reform or for Obama to succeed. It is about power and getting re-elected. Oh ya remember how much they were for Reconcilliation when their man Bush was in office before they were against it when the Deomcrats gained the White House. they will once again be for reconciliation. The battle is not between Democrats and Republicans. The battle is between Conservatism and Freedom. The Democrats in Congress are about one-third liberals, one-third Conservative, and one-third who don't care how they vote as long as they keep the job. The Republican leaders are 100% Conservative.
If Conservatism has its way, Americans will become tenant workers in their own nation, which will be owned by global corporations and a very tiny, very wealthy class. Now this is not what Conservative voters are voting for, but Conservative leaders don't care what Conservative voters want any more than they care what Liberal voters want.
Doesn't it seem strange to Conservative voters that the guys you elect never reduce the size of government, always increase the deficit ($8 trillion added by Reagan, Bush, and Bush), always outsource your jobs, never do anything about immigration, always approve bills that would admit more highly skilled immigrant workers, always oppose higher wages as if high wages were unpatriotic, never display the Eagle Scout morality that they pretend to, never fail to take a bribe, never do anything about the sanctity of marriage, never submit a flag-burning amendment, and never doubt that you will vote for them again?
Conservatism: The Big Con
If we let the Republicans take control again, after the mess they left, we will have nobody to blame but ourselves. The Republicans just about destroyed our Republic. Keep the "Party of No" on the sidelines where they belong and we'll all be better off.

Bush and the Republicans were the ones who destroyed our country; they left Obama a mess beyond proportions, and Obama and the Democrats are doing a fantastic job in cleaning up the Republican mess.
Just like Bill Clinton had to clean up the Republican mess. Clinton left Bush a surplus and Bush squandered it on an unnecessary war and helping his Wall Street and oil cronies.
I am sure that the American people will not forgot that it was the Republicans who ran our country into the ground.

I am not going to stand by and allow my hard earned dollars be taxed to death so that all you people who gambled witrh your health, lived above your means, and basically abused the entitlement system. I intend to fight every step of the way and we will win not you lazy abusive gamblers.
IF you don't pass a single payer healthcare reform, just know that we would have no choice but to vote for new dems as a message to all dems, as to our discontent.
Of course republicans would never get my vote after this difficult year and their obstructionist attitude in our times of difficulty when this difficulty was their doing.
Every dem who doesn't vote for the single payer healthcare reform would have just one term in office. But republicans wouldn't have any vote from me.
Dems would have one term until they are able to stand up for us. AT least, dems want to be on the side of the people. Not the rich and big corporations.
They can't do it because republicans have the money and the media to prevent their every move.
So I am going to work on removing republicans from office and dems who are not taking risk for us. And that until the congress has enough votes to pass our laws and redress our economy in all fairness without the obstructions of the republicans, and the weakness of the dems who want to tango for cooporation game alone.
A majority of Americans do not want obama care in it's current form, if he and his Dems do the reconciliation bit tomorrow than come November, more democratic seats will be lost in the Senate and Congress.
And can any liberal here explain why you will give a free pass to obama and his democratic congress in their quest to slash Medicare which is in this bill? If a Republican were to announce so much as cutting one dime out of the Medicare budget you would all be screaming murder!
We need to hear from the chief : a Powerful president who would stand for us and a powerful congress who would stand up for us rather than bow down to bullies.
Thank God Obama is a failed experiment and we will not have to be nauseated by his Socialist rhetoric after this embarrassing term...and only less than a year for Pelosi. Ain't life grand.
