Ethics Committee to investigate Democrat

Washington (CNN) - The House Ethics committee is investigating Rep. Eric Massa, D-New York.

In a short statement issued Thursday, the committee said it is "investigating and gathering additional information concerning matters related to allegations involving Representative Eric Massa."

Massa announced on Wednesday that he would not seek re-election due to health problems, but allegations of misconduct surfaced later in the day.

- CNN Congressional Producer Deirdre Walsh contributed to this story.

Where are all the investigations still outstanding on Rangel about not declaring money and owing taxes?

Its amazing the house ethics committee even acknoledged it. With Pelosi and pals in charge nothing short of murder would draw a rebuke from that ethically challenged crowd. She is the dumbest speaker I can ever remember in office. It is beyond me out of all the people the Democrats have that they have that IDIOT leading. She makes Palin seem like a Rhode Scholar.

Mace ... good point. Heard of arm-twisting? The only reason this allegation became public was Massa was one of the few Democrats to vote "no" on the House health-care bill.

Hard-ball is being played folks. Massa got hit by a high fast-ball. It's being used to send other Democrats a "message".

Does anyone who's commented so far know what the allegations even ARE yet? I think it's too soon to politicize it. And it's Rhodes Scholar, not Rhode Scholar.

It's true, Democrats have bad seeds the same as Republicans do. To claim that one side is innocent and the other filled with crooks and thieves is disingenuous. Scandal is scandal no matter what side it comes from. If Massa is guilty of wrongdoing he should be removed from office and I don't think you would find a Democrat that would disagree with that.

Where you will find Democrats hee-hawing about Republican scandals are in the ones that are ironic (i.e. Family Values advocate gets caught commiting adultery). Though, you can put money that the inverse is true also.

I am impressed that he is getting strung up al all under a Dem congress. . As a republican, you can get away with murder, if they hold congr

This would never happen under GOP control. You can even start a war with fake evidence, while ignoring a another enemy who attacked you and killed thousands of your people.

Why would Dems blame Bush, he has nothing to do with this. People need to stops protecting their own party's view or sharing their talking points. Think for yourself and judge things objectively without bias. Is that too much to ask for from the American public.

Unethical people come from all sides and they should be investigated and removed or they should resign in embarrassment. That's not the type of folks we want representing our interests period. Leave it at that. Stop making comparisons and spewing vicious attacked versus other elected officials.

Mace your right about General Pelosi. I am a beleiver that this is Bush's fault just like WWII was. One thing about the democrat party now is they don't have the backbone to accept blame for anything.

The joke is CONGRESS having its OWN ethics committee,,,,,they are ALL brothers in crime,,,if they do bring ethics charges against anyone , they are merely slapped on the wrist, for getting caught.,,,BOTH parties are a disgrace to America.
