Washington (CNN) - First Lady Michelle Obama on Tuesday will donate her 2009 inaugural gown to the National Museum of American History, the Smithsonian and the White House announced.

The gown, designed by New York designer Jason Wu, is the one-shoulder, white-chiffon dress that the first lady wore to all 10 inaugural balls the evening of President Obama's inauguration.

Wu plans to attend the presentation on Tuesday.

According to Melina Machado at the history museum, the frock will be the center point of a new gallery entitled "A First Lady's Debut." It will be surrounded by 10 other gowns, nine of which are also gowns worn at the first inaugurals of previous presidents.

The exhibit spans 56 years, representing former First Ladies starting with Mamie Eisenhower.

these hate mongers can't get over the idea that POTUS and First Lady are black, classy, educated, family and has and had money before they came to the White House. Yea...Black is Beautiful and a lot of US (me included) is black and proud.

The nasty comments, coming from obviously ignorant people, are
so disgusting it boggles the mind. Hateful people, saying hateful
things will only add to the downing of America. Where did you all
go to school anyway, or did you? Before you become fashion critics and
beauty critics you might want to look in your mirrors first. Can't see
your hearts but they are certainly cold.

Our First Lady is very classy and real!! I have to say here that I am so sick and tired of the haters calling our President and First Lady elitist and arrogant. I really don't think they know the meaning of the word. If Pres. Obama shows strength they say he's being arrogant, if he doesn't show that same strength they thrive on calling him weak. The Republicans, Tea Partiers and the like either have no memory of the last 8 years or are so blinded by their hatred they can't see beyond it. The majority duly elected this President, unlike Bush who was first selected by his cronies on the Supreme Court and then given his 2nd term by the governor of Ohio!! President Obama is doing the best he can to fulfill his promises to the majority that voted for him. Not everything is going to get done because there are just too many issues that need to finally be addressed in this country.

The intense hatred and bitterness of the people leaving comments about this completely apolitical news is bizarre. I'm sure they must all be jealous, foreign communists, because real Americans would not act so insanely irate over Michelle, like many first ladies before her, giving her inaugural dress to the Smithsonian.

Why the anger and hatred toward Mrs. Obama? What has she done to make some people despise her so much?

People who call her fat (or double wide), what's that about? Who are you to criticize? Surely you aren't Christians.
