Romney: Palin is qualified to be President

Washington (CNN) - Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, considered to be a leading candidate for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, said Friday that he thinks potential GOP rival Sarah Palin is qualified to serve as president of the United States.

Romney, in an interview to air on "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer," cited her service as a local and then state official as well as her selection as the GOP vice presidential nominee in 2008 as examples as to why she is qualified.

Blitzer, who was interviewing Romney about his new book "No Apology: The Case for American Greatness," specifically asked whether Palin is qualified to be president. "I sure do," said Romney.

He added, "She's been a mayor, she's been a governor, she's been part of a presidential campaign, she's got a lot of support."

Palin, a virtual unknown until she was chosen by Sen. John McCain to be his running mate in 2008, came under fire from critics who charged she did not have enough experience to be vice president.

Romney, who unsuccessfully sought the Republican Party nomination in 2008, was asked by Blitzer about running again for president, an idea he did not rule out.

Can you say "pandering," boys and girls? Do you know what that means? Do you know why Mr. Romney feels the need to do that?

I wonder when he'll start drinking tea in public?

sarah palin is a true beacon of conservatism. she is just like us. she knows the trials and tribulations of real americans. well, those of us with witch hunters.

she has them liberals running scared with her down to earth common sense solutions.

oh they knock her and say she has nothing of substance to say but she has the answers right in the palm of her hand. literally. and in permanent ink marker to boot.

She's definitely more qualified than all the Democrats, especially that joke that's currently occupying the White House. But there are a few Republicans who are more qualified than her for the Presidency, such as Mike Huckabee or even Mitt Romney himself. Sarah Palin has proved she is pretty much capable of doing anything she sets her mind to do. She has been a Mayor, a Governor, a wildly successful author, a political speaker in great demand, and even a stand-up comedian. Add to all these things is the fact she is a wife and Mother. Now I know that she can be a tiny bit polarizing due to the fact that the Progressive Party has no one who is as wildly popular as she currently is. The best they can seem to offer is Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank. But hopefully even the Far-Left loons will come around and realize what a tremendous American she is and that they need to learn to appreciate her genuineness.

I was waiting for one of the shooters in the Repub Circular Firing Squad Team to shoot himself. Nice shooting, Mitt, you betcha'.

... and she's been a quiter, and a liar, and a manipulator, and a fear mongerer, and a radical christian funementalist, and a hypocrite, and an entitled wannabe who holds her disabled son up as a token, and on and on. Thank god we have someone like her to create so much humor in these troubled times. If it weren't for that she'd be useless.

Uh-oh! It sounds like Romney is letting his hair do all the talking.... again. Palin as President is a pathetic joke that would surely put America dead last among other third-world countries.

rickster, how much were you paid to post your comment?

That's the most Pravda-esque thing I've ever seen on the ticker. An exciting career awaits you in the Ministry of Right Wing Propaganda, especially if you can recite what you wrote to a large crown and keep a straight face.

    Now on to Mitt...

Others already said it Mitt, you're nuts.

I thought Romney was fairly level-headed until I heard this. If you don't know this woman would be an unmitigated disaster as President, then you are not qualified to be President.

Well, yeah, in the sense that she's over 35 and a natural-born American citizen. Otherwise, not so much.

    @ Jonathan

"He is just practicing respectful politics. Us Republicans are a little more respectful not like the Dems who blasted Obama during the primaries for not being ready then turned around and made him out to be the next messiah."

You mean like Karl Rove's whisper campaign in 2000 that alleged that Bridget McCain was John McCain's illegitimate black child? The one that preyed on the racist attitudes of South Carolinians?

    Yeah that was super respectful.

She is much more qualified than Obama was when elected. The inexperience and inability of Obama to make decisions is glaring. Obama is in way over his head, and does not have the common sense or intelligence to be in an executive position. His stupidity of thinking that the failed stimulus jobs bill would keep unemployment below 8% is astounding. The thought that the hatefilled Obama racist backers believe that he was qualified to be President will go down as the worst decision for President in the history of America. The same America that Obama is destroying by his stupid dithering indecisions.

That Romney espouses that she is qualified is truly a testament to Republican party weak position. They can't even critically evaluate themselves. Romney might be qualified himself but that he would even pretend that Palin is qualified is such a disappointment and laughable. I'm more qualified than Sarah Palin!

Hey everyone can you imagine Sarah Palin as president? Suddenly, just as she did as Governor, she doesn't like the critism or the bad press so she quits!! Yes I can see that and so can many others as she has done this already!! Who in their right mind would vote for a person that quits because it gets a little tough?! There are a lot of countries around the world that have been and will continue to pick on the United States, so will she stand up for you?! No. As proven she'll run away and write a book about it. Yeah just what you need. A coward in the whitehouse.

@this black (yeah, right) liberal hates Obama: It just tickles me to see you prove a theory I have – I've been reading all these 'comments' and, especially in your case, 95% of these comments are misspelled, syntactically incorrect, or are just out and out incomplete sentences! You even spelled 'dumb' wrong – I mean, 'dumm'? Really? Really?. It's like a free show, every day....!
