Romney: Palin is qualified to be President

Washington (CNN) - Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, considered to be a leading candidate for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, said Friday that he thinks potential GOP rival Sarah Palin is qualified to serve as president of the United States.

Romney, in an interview to air on "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer," cited her service as a local and then state official as well as her selection as the GOP vice presidential nominee in 2008 as examples as to why she is qualified.

Blitzer, who was interviewing Romney about his new book "No Apology: The Case for American Greatness," specifically asked whether Palin is qualified to be president. "I sure do," said Romney.

He added, "She's been a mayor, she's been a governor, she's been part of a presidential campaign, she's got a lot of support."

Palin, a virtual unknown until she was chosen by Sen. John McCain to be his running mate in 2008, came under fire from critics who charged she did not have enough experience to be vice president.

Romney, who unsuccessfully sought the Republican Party nomination in 2008, was asked by Blitzer about running again for president, an idea he did not rule out.

Romney and Hannity both think she is a genius. Makes you wonder about their judgment. And Mitt, she decided to bail during her first term as governor and only served two years. No one likes a quitter.

Well... Romney's assessment of Palin's presidential qualifications tells us everything we need to know about Romney's qualifications! I knew if we waited long enough, he'd broadcast his "lightweight" abilities... capabilities.

This is exactly why Romney is NOT qualified to serve as president.

Romney just demonstrated how much influence the extreme Right Wing has on any Republican interested in running for President. What a sad statement about our current political climate. I honestly thought Romney had much more integrity than he just demonstrated. Also, anyone that would declare that she is qualified to be President does not deserve to be nominated to be President.

Palin qualified? Yeh, sure, anybody in America can become Prez. W proved that. And looked how the world and the US suffered because of it. This would be funny if it weren't so pathetic.

If Romney believes that Sarah Palin is qualified to be president of the United States it really says a lot about him, his judgment, and his lack of credentials to serve as president.

Palin dosn't have even a cursory understanding of any important national issue. She is so clueless as one human being to another, she is painful to watch. A person who can't remember three simple points without writing them on her hand cannot represent the United States. I feel so sorry for her children. She has to be an embarrassment to them.

Only if the majority of Americans are lobotomized could Sarah Palin become president of the United States.

She quit her job as governor, for no apparent good reason. That alone is enough to disqualify her.

Or maybe she misunderstood the old saying, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going – she got going, right out the door of the governor's mansion.

I do not want a president who bravely tucks their tail and bravely runs away when things get tough.

Palin is not qualified to be a freakin dog catcher. This just proves that Mitt Romney is out of touch, out of ideas, and out of his mind. He's also has just proven that HE is NOT ready to be President either. What a bonehead !

Come on people, get real. What is he supposed to say when asked directly like that? Say no she is not qualified? What kind of firestorm would that create. The liberal media would be all over it saying there is a fracture within the Republican Party! He is just trying to be polite and try and say some kind things about her like she creates a lot of excitement and things like that. He really doesn't give any real reasons why she is qualified because there are not too many.
Romney is a gentleman and is not going to throw Palin under the bus just because somebody in the media is trying to trip him up with a question like that. He couldn't win with any answer. I am sure though that he really thinks that he is more qualified to be President and personally I do too!
    Romney in 2012!

I'm with you "Nero" – I could not have said it better myself...

That just proves that Romney is not fit to be president. Anyone who thinks Palin is fit to be President is a total and complete moron. Yes, you!"

Let's see... what will this guy, who definitely seems to have lost any respect for himself, will do to appease more far righters in his own party and make them forget his religious beliefs?

Well, that just sealed the deal. I am an independent and this comment just put the nail in his coffin as I would never vote for anyone who thought Sarah Palin was qualified to be President of these United States. these republicans better get real. Just because she is an attractive woman does not make her qualified to be President or Vice President for that matter. She brings in people because they all want to see what a real ditz looks like. She has air between her ears and nothing more.

Mitt has spent the last year and a half ruining any creditability he may have once had with the American people. At one time he seemed as if he might have been President. He even managed to stave off the anti Mormon campaign well and that is an issue with many Christian voters but, he has been caught off guard too many times fumbling for answers on Bain Capitals trend of purchasing US companies then outsourcing jobs. He is bad for main street and that is bad for our country.

If Palin is Qualified to be president-then Romney is NOT qualified to be president for saying that.

Well that does that! I thought Romney was the man to beat Obama. If he thinks Palin is ready to be president, the that just shows he isn't! I guess I'm still looking for that different Republican – the one with some smarts, and not just looks.

Romney is not stupid, ignorant maybe but not stupid. He know full well that if he went up against Palin for the nomination, that it would be a shoe in for him. Romney, is a manipulator who has no clue on how to be a president for all; he would focus on the wealthy and make sure that they stayed that way. Truely, he is untrustworthy, and dangerous.

And that tells you what you need to know about Romney's judgment: it's a bad as McCain's.
...and worse than both of them is Barack Obama. he chose Joe Biden. Now there's a lapse in judgement. Sarah Palin took Joe apart in the VP debate. He was up against someone with a much better understanding of what America needs. He has made it a point to prove that in the last 12 months.

Oh yes Palin to lead this country. Say what you will about Obama but at least he:
1.) knows the three branches of government.
2.) Doesn't need to write down notes on his hand while giving a speech
3.) gets completly childish over criticism.
4.) Quits when it gets stressful
5.) Doesnt follow through on various projects

Do I need to need to go on? She has been nothing but a mouthpiece for the republican party. I'm not going to be mean and say she is dumb like so many other people but she is not...and can never be a Vice President. Not qualified in the least bit.
