GOP could win control of the House, Boehner says

Washington (CNN) – House Minority Leader John Boehner is feeling upbeat about his party’s prospects in November’s midterm elections.

“We've got more candidates than we've ever had,” Boehner said in an interview that airs on Sunday’s State of the Union. “We've got better candidates than we ever had. We have a better process of helping to grow candidates and grow campaigns than we've ever had. No question that we're going to get outspent in this election. But I think that - that we have a chance at winning Republican control of the House.”

“And I'm going to do everything I can to see that it happens,” Boehner also said.

Asked by CNN Senior Political Correspondent Candy Crowley to evaluate the GOP’s chances of retaking the House, Boehner was realistic.

“It's a steep climb, but it's doable,” Boehner told Crowley.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, begs to differ with Boehner’s prediction.

“The Democrats will retain the majority in the House of Representatives,” Pelosi said on State of the Union last month.

Pelosi added, “I'm not yielding one grain of sand, we're fighting for every seat.”

What is the logic behind giving the republicans control of the house? Will that really solve our problems? Think about the last 8 years of republican in power.

Yeah, right, the party that brought us the greatest economic melt down since the Great Depression is going to be voted back into office.

I'll make a prediction. The Repubs won't gain ONE SINGLE seat.

That has as much value as the Orange Beasts' prediction. Pick the one you like the best and shove it where the sun don't shine.

Looking at the results of past off-year elections, if the Republicans do not take control of BOTH the House and Senate, it will be a repudiation of the GOP by the voters.

Boy I hope he is right. something has to be done to stop the out of controll spending the democrats are doing plus ramming bills down our throats that the majority of people don't want. I would love to see Pelosi go from Queen Pelosi to Rep. Pelosi. That along would make for a very Merry Nov.

Boehner is responsible for his party voting "NO" on everything proposed by Obama. In doing so, they have brought this country to a halt and created the worst "partisianship" in decades. How about coming up with some real ideas and then working with the Dems to solve America's problems. The Bush plan (which you supported) cut taxes for the rich AND continued to spend. Now, when the Dems try to correct it, all you can do is "Monday-morning-quarterback".

Candy was like a little girl interviewing Boehner. Her voice was barely above a wisper as she thank him for telling all the lies for America to see. There is no challenge here: Boehner claim if 8 of 10 things things are in the bill that on medicare doesn't mean republicans need to vote for it. if 80% of what they want is in the bill why not vote for it? That's what Candy should of asked. Boehner claim cutting 500 billion out of medicare to pay for healthcare is wrong. Candy did not challenge that assumption. 500 billion that is going to health insurance companies for doing nothing. The government spend $1.10 for every dollar spent; .10 cents of my money is going the insurance companies as an incentive. I want my .10 cents back they are pocketing that money not making it better for seniors.

I could go on and on how this interview really suck. Let real audience members ask these questions not journalist who just playing to the camera. Boehner need to face the people he's trying to deny care to by opposing HRC.

I wanted to write out a long speech about this subject but came to the conclusion that it will do little good. What I will say is this. The Republican party has lied to the American people for so long now that they believe their own lies. They truely believe that they have convinced enough of you that this country" problems are all because of President Obama and the Democratic party. What is not being told by these crooks is how we got here for the past 8 years. What they do not talk about is the collaspe of Wall Street under their watch, the involvement in two wars under thier watch, the migration of millions of jobs under thier watch.
But like I have said repeatedly, if you tell a lie(s) constantly enough, it will become the truth in a lot of people's minds.
It's frightening to think that there are enough Americans willing to buy these lies and return these people to power in this country. For all of you who contiune to have a mind of your own, wake up and become involved with the up-coming 2010 elections as well as 2012.
One final thought & comment...Health Care in our country is a disgrace. We do not want to admit that and the Republicans will preach just the opposite. They say we have the best health care in the world??? If that is true, why are so many people dying each year because they do not have health care? Why are so many families just one major illness away from bankruptsy? ASK YOURSELVES THESE QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BUY INTO THE REPUBLICAN LIES>>>>

Ugh.....we will be back in the dark ages with the Republicans. Remember all the failures of the previous GOP administrations and Congress. As the economy is improving from Bush's mess, it cannot improve if these irresponsible GOPers with controlling Congress!
Only the Democrats can pull us out of the failed policies of the Bush/Cheney administration!

I don't care who wins and who loses, as long as every incumbent in the trash dump they call Washington, DC is voted out. It's time for Americans to prove who actually runs this country. Vote 'em in. Vote 'em out.

He is right! If obama keeps doing what he is doing there is a good chance the repubs will win back the house and possibly the senate. One thing for sure is even if the senate stays with the dems, at least Reid will be gone. We will still have to deal with that dog Pelosi, but she doesn't have that bite she once had anymore. I just can not understand why obama is so stupid! That's right, stupid. All the polls state that the majority does not want his healthcare plan...period! He always used polls to his advantage. I guess when they are in his favor they are great, but when they are against him, he thinks they are not that important! This guy is such a puppet on a string and is lost without his puppeteer. Obviously his puppeteer needs to adjust his strings or he is going to keep falling on his arse! Grow up kid and start listening to what the people of this country are saying to you. Then follow that procedure of saying, NO more healthcare crap for now. We are going to change what needs to be changed, but only that and not mess with the stuff that people like. Think kid, if you can! Don't you remember who elected you! The people. Even your dems are getting tired of covering your arse! You can see when they talk and have to tell lies to cover you that it is painful for them. By the way, I am not a repub, just an American who is tired of seeing you screw up this country that I love dearly and fought for 44 plus years ago! I remember getting spit on by your buddies in the lib party who ran when their names were called to serve. I joined wasn't drafted. You are becoming an embarrassment to this country. Either change or get out!

I have voted in every election for over 30 years and it troubles me to see so many harsh partisan posts. I vote for individuals, not parties. Both parties have plenty of fault for our current problems. Listen up Democrats – tax the rich to death and give everybody everything isn't the answer to everything. Listen up Republicans – tax cuts and saying no to everything is not the answer either. If we don't get the debt under control (and I mean now) this country will be bankrupt in 10 years. At that point take what your worth (pensions and 401K's included) and multiply it by zero because thats what happens when you default on your debt. That means working till you die just to put food on the table. Sound far fetched? Think again. This country needs to tighten their belts, work harder, and yes everyone will have to pay more to get out of this mess.

I hope voters will remember the previous 8 years under Republican controlled leadership that created the WORST financial crisis since the Great Depression. The Republicans passed 2 tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans at the expense of the rest of the country, increased the size of government and engaged in deficit spending. Republicans don't represent the values of the majority of Americans. I just hope voters will remember all of that when they go to the polls.

The smartest way to vote is to look at your representatives voting record and see if they represent you. Understand the issues and find out just what each of the candidates represent. Make an informed decision (the smart way to vote) instead of voting on emotion driven by fear (the way the Republicans prefer you vote).

I don't think the country is better off under the Republicans. 8 years prove me right.

Boehner could be right. And wouldn't that be a wonderful day. That the voters in this country would reward a political party guilty of gross obstructionism and blatant lying for the last year by giving it more power in our government is positively sickening. Boehner is a terrific symbol for the GOP. Stiff. Humorless. Vacuous. Dishonest. And without one idea in his head. I've not heard Boehner offer a single constructive contribution to the welfare of the American people since the Inauguration. He has made himself known as the Chief Attack Dog of the GOP in Congress. Giving this empty suit more political power would be a major step backward for this country at a time when it needs to move forward.

TERM LIMITS – thats the answer to almost ALL our government problems. WE the VOTERS hold the "pink slips" in our hands. TERM LIMITS are OUR right. If the government won;t enact term limits into LAW them WE, the PEOPLE hold the pink slip – our VOTE. Lets show the politicians that we want them to do what WE want not whats in "their" interests. This is " government by the people for the people". NOVEMBER is PINK SLIP month, use your VOTE wisely ! VOTE

Wow...Republicans in charge for the past 8 years.

If you people actually paid attention..the demcrats were in control of congress during the last 2 years of the Bush years. If any of you actually look at the constitution, all laws are made and passed through congress.

You're liberals though, it doesn't matter what the constituion says...just as long as you can make it fit what you believe.
