White House reacts to Kucinich

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/03/17/art.kucinich.gi.jpg caption="Rep. Dennis Kucinich announces he will support the health care reform bill."]

Washington (CNN) – Reacting to the announcement by Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, that he'll support the health care reform bill even though he doesn't like it, a senior administration official at the White House said "obviously we welcome the announcement and we want everyone to support the bill."

President Obama had been wooing Kucinich, who voted no on the earlier House bill and had been undecided on whether he'd embrace the Senate bill.

The Ohio congressman accompanied Obama on Air Force One Monday for a day trip to his district just outside Cleveland, Ohio. During the flight, White House aides say the president made the case for health care reform.

Obama got some help from audience members at the Strongsville, Ohio event. As the president introduced Kucinich, some in the crowd shouted, "vote yes!" Obama seized the moment by responding, "Did you hear that Dennis? Go ahead, say that again."

Kucinich is only one vote, but he represents progress for the president who has launched a full court press to win over undecided Democrats.

  2. VOTE YES

I knew he would vote yes. This isn't the best bill, but it can be improved on over time. Eventually there will be a public option added onto this reform. The GOP has sealed their fate for November.

BYE BYE PARTY OF NO IDEAS

The rest of the democrats better follow suit and vote yes for this bill. Dennis saw how much this President is love and these people need health reform. All the stupid democrats that are still sitting on the fence will be out of office in November if they are up for reelection, and that would be good if they are.

Wonder what happened on Air force 1? Use your imagination......more union jobs for Ohio, special road projects, another special deal like Nebraska or LA, or Kucinich getting to be Obummie's luggage carrier and ride around on Air Force 1. As the song goes, if you don't stand for something you will fall for anything. Spineless, just spineless.

THANK GOD there are some pepole if out government that see this bill for what it is. I't too bad that 35% of Americans still back this financial disaster. Maybe we should require a highschool education with economics and constitution proficiency in order to vote in this country. It might weed out the morons.

  13. jm for sc

    Great!!

Once this bill passes, people will really see what the GOP has been trying to block. This is about sinking this president regardless of how it will affect the voters.

When you see people praising Joe Wilson of SC for disrespecting the president of the US on national television, we know this country is in bad shape. This president knows what he is doing. He is not just talking about our problems, he is being about it. For decades, America has been talking about healthcare. It is past time it gets done.

There are many AMERICAN PEOPLE who want, need and support the healthcare bill. I would not vote for a candidate that would block a bill that helps people.

WAKE UP PEOPLE WAKE UP SINCE WHEN DID ANYTHING GO DOWN IN PRICE WHEN SOMETHING NEW COME ALONG OH YEA THATS RIGHT GREEN CARS HOW IS THAT WORKING OUT FOR BEING CHEAPER WAKE UP

  19. Dad of a Diabetic

God bless you Dennis Kucinich. If this bill fails, then thousands of Americans will die next year because they do not have health insurance. There are thousands of sick Children who are "uninsurable" and they will become "insurable".Dennis Kucinich you are a friend to every child in America with a deadly disease that makes them "uninsurable". From 2001 to 2009, the Republicans didn't even talk about uninsurable children. Republican actions during the time they had complete or partial power tells America what they really thought about children with diabetes, cancer or some other deadly disease. They could care less about sick children.

Dennis – thank you. I know you have strong values for our country and want to see universal health care...but we need this vote now. Maybe in our lifetime we'll be able to get universal health care, but people like me who have children with pre-existing conditions needs your vote!

    Dennis Kucinich/Ron Paul – 2016!
