Washington (CNN) – The chairman of the Republican National Committee accused the White House Thursday of pushing and punishing the Congressional Budget Office into calculating an estimate for the health care bill that's favorable to Democrats.
In an interview with CNN's Rick Sanchez, Michael Steele mentioned the $940 billion figure, estimated for the next 10 years, and said, "That's a lie."
Wonder if Steele and Republican brains ever heard the story of the boy who cried, "Wolf?" It ended badly for the boy.
Steele you lie and have done constantly to instill fear.
Maybe someone should remind Steele that the CBO is non-partisan and is in no way controlled by the White House.
Just because you don't like the numbers doesn't mean that they're lies.
I don't think anyone who is familiar with US Federal Government budgeting practices believes this will even be less than $2 trillion. I've seen serious estimates closer to $4 trillion.
Even at $940 billion, this is America going into debt by $3,500 more for every man, woman and child in the country. And to reward us for that huge committment, insurance rates will probably go up twice as fast as they are now and the quality of care will only get worse.
This is all being coordinated by the same financial wizards who spent the same amount of money to keep unemployment from going above 8%! They just keep coming back for more.
Pretty simple calculus going on here for the GOP:
"Does the CBO report say what we want to hear?
If No, claim it is a liberal conspiracy lie produced through strong-arming and bribery.
If Yes, cite it as evidence of how fiscally irresponsible the Dems are until you're blue in the face."
BTW, does he have even one scintilla of evidence to support his accusation that the WH "pushed an dpunished" the CBO? No, he doesn't, which is why he does not mention any and instead blathers on and on in a paranoid delusional ideological tyrade.
The whole Liberal philosophy is a lie. Liberals are born liars. Its most likely bad parenting in combinatio with some sort of unexplained brain disease. Hopefully one day scientists will come up with a vaccine for it.
The Congressional Budget Office is non-partisan. This guy is a fool, the CBO doesn't fake the books ...
When will the media begin covering the real reason Republicans have opposed health care reform and virtually ever other initiative from the Obama Administration? Health care reform is viewed as necessary policy change by well over 70% of the voters in the Country. Giving Obama and Democrats a victory on a policy initiative that popular would have been viewed very positively by voters and would not have aided the political standing of Republicans. Republicans needed to destroy the bill in the eyes of the public and muddy the debate even though the vast majority of the bill being passed has been a mainstay of Republican proposals for years. Voters need to realize that Republican opposition has very little to do with policy and has everything to do with politics. They need to attempt to undermine the President for their own political gain even if it isn't in the best interest of the people. Republicans are playing a very dangerous and damaging game for their own political gain at the expense of the American people.
Oh my....that's a lie from the most truthiest person on earth. Republicans, are twisting their shorts in a bunch and whining and moaning so much they wouldn't it be nice if they screwed themselves into a hole and disappeared for the duration of their term.
OMFG! So because a NON-PARTISON budget office did not come out with the exploded numbers you were hoping for, you discredit their amount as a lie..unbelievable... It was okay when it was Bush and the Republican Congress but because it's Obama and his administration, it's suddenly a lie...you are a true HOUSE N!GGA Steele! You actually accuse Obama of subverting the CBO to get a lower cost, Man, when November gets here and you idiots on the right stand there slack-jawed in disbelief as you lose more seats in the House and Senate, I'll be here to spit down your throats and laugh!
He is such an idiot..:)
Of course that $940 billion is a lie–the Dems have demonstrated over and over that they'll resort to any slimy tactic they can come up with to lie, cheat, and steal their way to imposing their catastrophe on America.
this morn steele dont know his toes from his fingers
Good CBO Score for the Dems = "It's A LIE!"
Bad CBO Score for the Dems = "Look at this crappy CBO Score!"
LOL.
Conservatism is more of a religion than a political belief. Conservatives cannot accept facts when those facts disagree with Conservative dogma. Did Reagan's tax cuts stimulate the economy back in the eighties? Nope, the tax cut was mostly offset by increases in Social Security taxes and increases in state taxes. It Reagan's $1.5 trillion in deficit spending that acted as a stimulus to the economy At the time, that was the biggest deficit in the history of mankind. President's Bush1 and Bush2 outdid Reagan with another $1.5 trillion in deficit spending in 4 instead of 8 years. Then Bush2 increased the deficit by $5.5 trillion.
But to the Conservative mind, this is impossible. History must be wrong. It must be the Liberal publishers who publish false history books, the Liberal newspapers that publish false news, the Liberal journalists who lied about the deficits, and Liberal bloggers like me, who take their orders directly from Karl Marx International Headquarters in Moscow, who perpetuate these lies.
I reminds me of a survey I read about where huge percentages of Muslims in many nations believe that the 9/11 attacks were arranged by the Jews to embarrass Muslims.
As if Michael Steele had any credibility to be believed. The only reason they ask him for a quote is that he is the talking head for the republican party. We all know why he was tapped for that one – the republican version of Obama. Unfortunately, the republicans forgot to get someone with brains. Steele has few.
News flash! While on the verge of passing Obamacare by any means necessary, a solid majority of voters remain opposed to it. All the Obama preachy speechs have not moved the polls a bit with a composite of 51% opposed to Obamacare and 39% for it.
Democrats opposing the will of the people is how Brown won in Mass and why Boxer is now in a neck and neck race in Ca.
And once the Dems pass Obamacare they will try and sell Obama's new $3.8 trillion budget which increases spending by 300 billion over last year and earns CBO deficit projections of an average of 980 billion a year for the next 10 years. With 1 trillion in 2018, 1.15 trillion in 2019 and 1.25 trillion in 2020, just keeps getting worse. A majority of voters will howl and demand it not be passed.
Then Obama wants to take up cap and trade again which is and will be opposed by a majority of voters.
Keep it up Obama and progressive Democrats, you are giving the voters all kinds of reasons to vote you out. And once Republicans are back in power they can repeal what ever Obama and the Dems passed that a majority of voters are opposed to, and the voters will cheer them on.
The CBO is non-partisan, which makes Steele's party-first "lie" a lie.
I downloaded and read for myself the Congressional Budget Office analysis. I'm an insurance executive, so I know how to read such technical documents. I doubt Mr. Steele knows anything except how to repeat his Republican party line.
The CBO study objectively says the reform package "would produce a net reduction in federal deficits of $138 billion over the 2010-2019 period as a result of changes in direct spending and revenue" (page 2).
The Catholic Health Association and the leaders of more than 50 Catholic women's religious orders have also endorsed the reform package as a "life-affirming" measure.
With obvious benefits like these, why can't Republicans stop their blind hatred, search their souls, and support our President’s plan?
Does Steele have any proof or are we supposed to take his word for it?
Hard for Sanchez to believe Obama would do anything corrupt. I don't agree with his policy of forcing his agenda whether the American people want it or not. His agenda means a lot more debt and no bipartisan support. He could care less what the American people think. There is nothing wrong with the American people to expect common sense answers to their questions and concerns. He's bringing change the way he wants it- doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. I think he is doing whatever financial damage he can while he can get away with it. The part that bothers me is the financial damage to the country.
NO free health care for illegals and union goons.
Vote out all Democrap Communists now before it's too late.
Michael Steele has credibility from where? Michael, go away nobody believes you. Even your fellow republicans know your not telling the whole truth.
Leave it to the Party of No, that Party that violates the 9th Commandment as often as possible, the Party who's very accusations of lies are themselves lies, to tell yet another lie. Don't check the facts, don't ask the CBO how they came up with their numbers. Just accuse the administration of lying, whenever the facts don't fit your agenda.
Why are Republicans so anti-Christian as to be such pathological liars?
Why do Republicans hate America?
