Steele on health care bill cost estimate: 'That's a lie'

Washington (CNN) – The chairman of the Republican National Committee accused the White House Thursday of pushing and punishing the Congressional Budget Office into calculating an estimate for the health care bill that's favorable to Democrats.

In an interview with CNN's Rick Sanchez, Michael Steele mentioned the $940 billion figure, estimated for the next 10 years, and said, "That's a lie."

The democrats keep telling their lies and the liberals keep believing it. This stupid thing will pass and we will all suffer because of outright lies. Higher taxes and lower healthcare standards here we come.

We're supposed to believe a guy that moves RNC meetings to Hawaii actually cares about fiscal conservatism? Give me a break. Steele has no credibility.

The party that opposes affirmative action appoints a black man as Chairman as soon as a black man is elected President, as they expect us to believe that there's not a cause and effect relationship there? And what of the leaked memo that mocks their base? The Republican party has no credibility.

Not that the many Dems in Congress lack credibility either...and people wonder why independent voters are dissillusioned? *sigh*

"that's a lie", coming from a Republican, means it therefore must in fact be true.

    Please don't vote for HCR.

If you do then over 18,000 won't die every year anymore.

Is that what you want? You want to save the lives of double the amount of people that died on 9/11?

No, I'm OK with $800 billion being spent to avenge the lives of 6,000 innocent Americans BUT IT SICKENS ME SPENDING $940 BILLION TO SAVE THE LIVES OF A MEASLY 18,000 INNOCENT AMERICANS A YEAR.

That's not what REAL America is about.

Shame on you people trying to save lives.

The fear/hate/obstructionist/purity Republicans can not have it their way. They agreed that the CBO would be the one to score the bill; but now that the CBO has and the Republicans do not like the outcome they are again using their fear/hate/obstructionist/purity ways to try and demean the CBO and the bill.

Mr. President and Democrats pass the bill and let us go onto jobs/energy/immigration and get those done as well. Forget the fear/hate/obstructionist/purity Republicans. We will deal with them come election time 2010 and 2012.

About 4 minutes and thats enough of that crap. All this time I thought Steele was a black guy. Now I know, he's just another good old white boy, he's just so full of crap he looks brown.

Steele is a confused RNC chairman. He is just like most of his cronies who can no longer diferentiate between the truth and a lie.

so the CBO is yet another thing that only can be taken into consideration when its results favor republicans. these people (and i use that term loosely) are sick.

That sounds a lot like "I know you are, but what am i?" I would think that someone in Steele's postion would have a better argument. After watching Steele ramble on in this video, it's evident that he has zero grasp of this issue – like most Republicans – and even less credibility.

It's official now. "Republican" will be a diagnosis in the new DSM V. The condition is dire, debilitating and apparently untreatable.

Let's see. "we know where the WMDs are", "the patriot act won't affect Americans", "Our spying on Americans is only looking for Terrorests". Lie after lie after LIES. Face it Steele, your Republican party has no credibility. To many Wolf,Wolf calls. As a former republican I no longer am fooled by your LIES. Look in the mirror the next time you call some one out as lying. You'll resemble that remark.

Steele wonuldn't know A lie if it hit him in the face. The repos have been calling everything a lie for so long they have no clue what is and what isn't a lie. No solutions no new ideas. Nothing creative has come out of this party. The president had such good response from the internet that all the repos are jumping on board. But no new ideas of their own. Same nasty mean bunch of obstructionist as before. They wouldn't aadmit to the health care bill helping anyone if their life depended on it.

Healthcare is not a right. You do not have a right to healthcare. It is a consumer good and like any consumer good, one must go out and work to pay for it. It is also not the Government's job to give us rights. Rights come from God. It is the Government's job to protect those rights not be the granter of said rights. I believe the constitution goes something like this, "We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal. That they are endowed by their CREATOR with unalienable rights." It doesn't say that they are endowed by the government with unalienable rights. Our constitution was written on the basis of faith. Without faith, our constitution would never have been conceived. Deny it all you want, liberals, but that doesn't make it any less the truth.
