FBI investigating Perriello incident in Virginia

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="The FBI is investigating a 'suspicious incident' at the home of Rep. Tom Perriello's brother."]Washington (CNN) – Days after his address was posted online by a Virginia Tea Party activist, the FBI and local law enforcement officials are investigating a "suspicious incident" at the home of Rep. Tom Perriello's brother.

A line to the propane tank on his brother's gas grill had been "severed," an aide to the Democratic congressman told CNN.

"It was enough that he could smell the gas," the aide said.

The Albemarle County Fire Marshal's office confirmed they are investigating the incident - which took place in Ivy, Virginia - along with the FBI.

"While officials are not willing to characterize the exact nature of the incident because of the ongoing investigation, it did not involve an immediate threat to occupants of the residence," Lee Catlin, Community Relations Director for the Fire Marshal, told CNN. "However officials are taking the incident very seriously and conducting a vigorous investigation. Additional details will be released as the investigation continues."

Catlin said county officials joined the investigation late Tuesday after a request from the FBI.

Politico reported Monday that a Tea Party activist in Lynchburg, angry over Perriello's vote in favor of health care reform legislation, had posted the address of Perriello's brother online and encouraged other activists to "stop by" and weigh in on the bill. The activist had apparently meant to post the congressman's home address but mistakenly published his brother's.

Perriello, who represents Virginia's conservative-leaning 5th congressional district, encompassing central and southern parts of the state. He was narrowly elected to his first term in 2008 and is considered one of the most vulnerable House Democrats in 2010.

On Wednesday, Perriello's office issued the following statement:

“My number one priority right now is ensuring the safety of my brother’s family, and I am grateful to law enforcement for their excellent work. While it is too early to say anything definitive regarding political motivations behind this act, it’s never too early for political leaders to condemn threats of violence, particularly as threats to other Members of Congress and their children escalate. And so I ask every member of House and Senate leadership to state unequivocally tonight that it is never OK to harm or threaten elected officials and their families with anything more than political retribution. Here in America, we settle our political differences at the ballot box.”

palin stirred up a lot of hate during the presidential campaign, and she still stirs up people to load your guns – I think the FBI needs to investigate HER very thoroughly.

Inciting violence of any kind should be a felony and punishable by imprisonment and public shame of all involved.

  2. An 8 year old ELEPHANT dung heap, does not transform into compost in just 1 year!

The ink is not dry on the new health care law and the American people support the new health care bill 49 to 40 against according to the USA Today/Gallup poll. You know, one those things you Reds used to say America did not ‘want this rammed down our throats“ as your republiklan House Reps were tea bagging one another on the balcony on Sunday. And that is just after one day! It will only go up as more Americans become familiar with the benefits.

Any now you tea bagging cons in the Senate want to vote FOR leaving in the “Cornhusker” and “Louisiana Purchase” by voting AGAINST the “fix it” bill?

That MAY resonate with the racist base, as you continue to try and assure that President Obama “fails” and try to take back “our country“ from the black guy in the White House, but call me silly, but I have difficult time thinking every American parent is going to vote for Greedy Old People that wants to roll coverage from 26 BACK to 18 or 19 for each of their children. I can also see where all those with pre-existing conditions that now qualify for the “high risk” pool such as Cancer survivors AND all of his/her family members rushing to the polls to vote you “big business” supporters with you “tort” reform fix and extending care to 3 million and sentence their loved ones to a true “death panel“.

Do not forget to mention to these same American parents how you Reds OPPOSE the President Obama’s plan to administer college loans. You know, the one where you want 70 billion dollars worth of taxpayer funds to go to “Wall Street Welfare” for big banks currently administering those loans. How you are against the government giving out the loans directly and actually using the 70 billion to go directly to their children, but you still want the 70 billion in tax dollars to be paid as “fees” and to “protect competition”.

The rest of American outside that “revival tent” that preaches racism and “birther” sermons, will not care if President Obama is green or truly prove “Men are from Mars” as long as the change will help their children to a more healthy future.

So, I agree that you need stay blinded by that racist rage, and keep fighting “socialism” and “guvmint takeover” with every breath and pandering to Bubba in the Bacalounger chuggin‘ on the backyard ‘shine.

Just be aware the rest of America will NOT be drinking the redneck “kool-aid”

However, as I THINK America will see it as that “empty suit community organizer” was really on the side of the American working class and once it sinks that you cons were trying to “con” the American people by your bold face lies about what was really in the bill and the fact that President Obama included more than 200 Red amendments in this new law, there will be a “Waterloo” and a “failure”, but my crystal ball does not show that to be President Obama or the Dems in Congress.

So, continue to say you will vote against the recon package and FOR keeping the sweetheart deals in the Senate bill that is now the LAW OF THE LAND.

President Obama painted the entire party of NO into a corner yesterday with one stroke of his pen, so now hand him another paint roller to slap you across the face with!

Certainly works for me AND the American people.

Fear-mongering. Racial Epithets. Intimidation tactics. And now, some cowardly act approaching attempted murder. It's official: These Tea Party scumbags have now relinquished the right to ever call their opponents "Nazis" again.

Tea Party is a violent, racist, organization... if you want to call it that. They are angry a black President is in office and that America has voted to Change the polices of the worst administration in history.

If the GOP happens to win majority this November, strap on your seat belts because they are going to finish the demise they started nine years ago.

Is anyone surprised by this tactic? It is one used by many groups who oppose health care, are pro-life and subscribe to a certain political philosophy.

This is just one more act of domestic terrorism, whipped up by the hate mongering rhetoric of the Republican Party. Thanks to their loathsome lies and hate speech, we now have out-of-control, lynch-mob-mentality political rallies with machine guns, racial slurs and disgusting racist signs, death threats, spitting on politicians, radio talk show hosts inciting violence by telling us every Democrat needs to be crushed and destroyed, vandalism in Democrat offices, blogs advocating civil war, sitting governors advocating secession, Congressional Republicans wanting McCarthy-style hearings on UnAmerican Activities with Democrats at the ones to be persecuted.

It's time for the Department of Homeland Security and Joe Lieberman's Senate Committee to investigate these acts of domestic terrorism and treason, before someone actually gets killed. They can start with the hate speech of Rush "Money Bags" Limbaugh and Glenn "The President hates white people" Beck, and all the hatred that spawns from their filth.

    Why do Republicans hate America?

Boy the Secret Service has their work cut our for them. When you hear about this stuff and take the frightening results from the Harris Poll (a quarter of Republicans consider him to be the Anti-christ???), you know its only a matter of time before someone tries something.

    two points:

    1. Tea Party Go-ers are not bright. Not bright at all. They even get the wrong address of the targeted person.

    2. The Republican Party is using the Tea Party Go-ers to do their dirty work (i smell a conspiracy theory brewing in that Tea Cup!).

And so it intensifies... demonize the tea party patriots.

We know what you are up to.. we didn't believe it at first... but now we
see and we are alive, well, and angry. But fear not, it is a righteous anger. We have right on our side, that is all we need. And we
are peaceful, God loving people who want to truly help the poor, not enable them in their poverty, but rather unite with them to improve the quality of life for every American, even the ones that we vehemently disagree with.

Conservatism makes sense.. We are proud of our politics and our methods of vocal and intelligent discourse which is our Constitutional right in this wonderful Country. God blesses America every day!!

The Taliban works the same way. Do something they don't like and your family gets a midnight visit from unknown persons and something bad often happens to them.

The Harris Poll says that 25% of Conservatives believe that Obama is the Anti-Christ. America has plenty of it's own fundamentalist lunatics running around loose, apparently. This figure is 25% of all Republicans. Fifty-seven million people voted for McCain. This means that 14,000,000 Americans believe that Obama is the Anti-Christ.

That means that there are plenty of loose cannons walking among us. Of course, ask one of them who cut this gas line and they'll say "Socialists did it to make Conservatives look bad."

What is this if not incitement to violence? In the 60's we saw outrage over any mention of pro-violence in the anti-govt protests and groups... now we just sit here with new postings on the web every day. Where is the media and where are all the "love it or leave it" crowd now?

Is this really a surprise? The tea baggers are a violent, anti-Government (can we say TRAITOROUS) group whose supporters have already resorted to violence. They bring their guns everywhere and talk about "taking out" anyone who doesn't agree with them. We have a tea bagger group here in WA State that recently had one of their leaders say that President Obama should be "lynched" (it was all on tape as she denied saying it). They are constantly threatening the President and anyone who doesn't think like them (I could never be that stupid as to think like these idiots) - I just don't understand why more of them are not in jail. By the way, a recent poll of tea baggers showed that only 2% of them knew that for 95% of citizens, their taxes had actually gone down since President Obama was elected. And guess what - when Bush and the GOP were in power, the middle class received not one tax break. It's scary isn't it? These people are shouting and yelling and threatening and they don't even know the real facts. Talk about the dumbing down of America.

Since you like to write about anecdotal incidents so much in your blogs to discredit democrats,I thought I'd pass this one on about the people who gave you an achievement award.
Of course nothing from you about the racist and sexist slurs directed at Democratic congressmen from the people that gave you an achievement award or the anecdote about the man with Parkinson's Decease who was at a rally by the people who gave you an achievement award and was mocked by them for supporting healthcare reform when they threw money at him to buy his own health care.
Then of course there's Sara Palin putting a riflescope on states to target Democrats for defeat in the next election.
Interesting anecdotes Pat from the people who gave you an achievement award. How about a few blogs on that.
Seiously,I think you could really improve your credibility with your critics if you were willing to call those people out too.I know you don't support that kind of stuff yourself.
    Thanks for your time.
