People: Palin, Discovery reach deal for TV show

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Sarah Palin has inked a television deal, People Magazine reports."](CNN) – Sarah Palin is branching out beyond politics, striking a deal with the Discovery Channel for a program spotlighting her home state of Alaska, People Magazine reports.

According to People, a source with the cable network says the former Alaska governor and Discovery have finally struck a deal after weeks of negotiations that involved several networks. A source told CNN earlier this month that Palin had been pitching a show that would be a "Planet Earth-style" documentary about Alaska.

The Palin source also told CNN of the proposed show: "It's not going to be focused on her family, or in her house, or in Wasilla."

Variety reported Tuesday the show is expected to be called "Sarah Palin's Alaska" and the former Republican vice presidential nominee will likely nab $1 million an episode.

Representatives of the Discovery Channel would not confirm the reports to CNN.

  1. I would like to thank all of.....

Sarah Palin's detractors for making her a huge financial success.....

We could not have done it without the likes of Katie Couric, Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, Nancy Pelosi, Joy Behar,
Barbara Walters, and on and on.

I thank you all and the Palins thank you also.

Boy was I wrong. I thought the Discovery Channel had more "class" than to center piece a lying quiter that preaches hate and doesn't respect the environment.

Click, click and I'll be on the National Geographic Channel.

Good luck with that. Most people I know abhor Palin's money-grubbing, and will not be watching.

Hmmm, apparently the Discovery channel forgot that Palin SHOOTS WOLVES FROM AIRPLANES! Hopefully there will ironically be wolves and other wildlife in the episodes. You may think "no big deal", but maybe if YOUR name was Wolf you'd think twice.

    You have got be joking......

HER Alaska?? And they are going to hand her a million per episode?

You people at Discovery Channel have lost your collective minds.

Let me put it this way for Discovery Channel...if you air a program with this freakshow and hand her that much money for her to take us on a tour of Alaska, I will block your program and kiss you BYE BYE

  8. Getting off?

She advocates the ATTEMPTED MURDER of Democratic Representatives.

Why does she warrant a show?

Why should we care about this? She will just show that she isn't as educated about policy (among other things). The idea of what you read is vital to showing where you get your information. This could lead her to tasting shoe leather after she sticks her foot in her mouth.

The Disata from Alaska is having a show called "Sarah Palins Alaska" is hilarious after what she has done to Alaska. Why on Gods green earth would Discovery need Sarah palin to do a show on this state that she threw under the bus for her lust of money. I am so un impressed that I think half the world is going to join me and cancel my Discovery Cahnnel subscription for hooking up with the devil to promote a show with her name on it. The only good thing that could possibly come from this, is that she might actually have to send a few days in Alaska. What right does a former Governor that has been found guilty of abuse, quit the job the people elected her for have to make money off a state that she barely resides in ? Please everyone get online or on the phone and cancel those Discovery Channel subscriptions.

Alaska is a beautiful State. I have been there several times: "there's a land where the mountains are nameless, and the rivers run God only knows where," Robert Service!

    Sara Palin adds very little!

Just more proof that she quit being the Governor of Alaska not for the good of the country or her political party, but for the good of her own pocketbook. Personally, I'm disappointed in the Discovery Channel for contributing to her personal wealth as well as putting someone on TV that is so polarizing.

It says a lot for us, as people, as well as for corporations, that big business will do anything to make more money, even to the detriment of our country.

My husband watches the Discovery Channel because in the past, they've had some great programs. However, now they've signed a deal with one of the biggest liars of all time. Goodbye Discovery Channel.

Figures. All the half governor is after is money. And the nerve to insult Levi for doing what he did. Maybe he was trying to get money to support his kid. Palin shoudl have kept her job so she would have an income. This money hungry right winger.

Having a lot of money make people go crazy and behave differently from others. We have witnessed the golfer what he did and many, many others. Am afraid she is heading that path.

I'm thoroughly disgusted that Discovery would pay this bigoted, money-hungry woman anything. After living in the Alaskan Bush for over eight years, I alwasys am interested in any shows about Alaska. However, I definitely will not be watching her.

She will be biased. This is self pomotion and discovery channel risk dipping credibility especially if she puts in so many lies and rumors like she is done before. She is a pathological liar of this decade.
