[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/03/24/art.palin.flag.jpg caption="Sarah Palin has inked a television deal, People Magazine reports."](CNN) – Sarah Palin is branching out beyond politics, striking a deal with the Discovery Channel for a program spotlighting her home state of Alaska, People Magazine reports.
According to People, a source with the cable network says the former Alaska governor and Discovery have finally struck a deal after weeks of negotiations that involved several networks. A source told CNN earlier this month that Palin had been pitching a show that would be a "Planet Earth-style" documentary about Alaska.
The Palin source also told CNN of the proposed show: "It's not going to be focused on her family, or in her house, or in Wasilla."
Variety reported Tuesday the show is expected to be called "Sarah Palin's Alaska" and the former Republican vice presidential nominee will likely nab $1 million an episode.
Representatives of the Discovery Channel would not confirm the reports to CNN.
The Discovery Channel has now fallen as the newest victim of Sarah "The Grifter" Palin.
There is perhaps one upside- Palin's supporters may accidentally watch some real science programs on Discovery.
That kills the Discovery channel for our household. We like NatGeo better anyway.
Sarah is just getting more and more popular. Let the name calling begin, but she is winning over the country. Suffer lefties, suffer.
I certainly will not waste any time watching that!!!
Been an while since CNN reported on Sarah....was wondering what happened. THought maybe CNN lost their obsession with her or something.
I will forever think less of the Discovery Channel for selling out like this. They're already down to one good show and now they're adding "Quitter" Sarah to their fold. How pathetic can it get?
Sorry Discovery, I'm done with you..
I'm sure she'll find a way to get her digs in about the "Global Warming Conspiracy." The Discovery channel should be ashamed for allowing someone who obviously has NO interest in science on their channel.
Good job Discovery Channel....you lost a fan for good. Why pay Sarah Palin a million dollars an episode? Alaska is one of the most beautiful places in the world, and does not need someone like Sarah Palin and her narrow mindedness to be associated with this show. The only bad part of Alaska is that Sarah Palin comes from there. Her voice is worst than nails on a chalkboard. Discovery Channel no mas!
She can't be bothered to fulfill her elected office in her home state, but she is more than happy to put her lying face on episodes of Alaska for $$$. This is disgusting for Alaska and for Discovery channel. They should get their butts to Alaska and ask around about this quitter and her perspective of Alaska.
Need to make some money to survive. No hope in 2012. So what's left!!!!!
Discovery is one of my favorite viewing channels; at least it was. If they go ahead with this program that generates $$ for Sarah Palin, I will officially block them from my favorite's list forever. How sad...
Maybe they will show her gunning down wolves from her helicopter. Anyway, I'm glad to hear that she's exploiting her home state for her own personal gain. It just enforces how sleazy she is.
I love the Discovery Channel but I hate Sarah Palin. Sorry Discovery Channel.
Sarah should help save the taxpayers money from these frivolous lawsuits her Republican friends are pushing against the Administration. Remember? She was a champion for that kind of thing. Saving taxpayers money from these, no good, frivolous lawsuits. Until, um...wait. No, she quit. I'm sorry.
Let's hope Sarah learns a lot about her home state while she does the show!
Now THAT is an odd pairing. I suppose it'll be like Planet Earth, except instead of just filming the indigenous wildlife, they'll be killing it from helicopters and chronicling the destruction of it's habitats with oil pipelines.
On the upside, it may encourage some folks to tune into Discovery channel that wouldn't normally have any interest in it.
...while real Americans are out of work, without health insurance, and starving, and this milky wolf huntress lands a deal with Discovery. Yikes!
Discovery Channel lost all credibility with me long ago when they started producing Car and Police chase shows as learning programs. This is good evidence that they have now sold their souls.
Hope she takes us on a tour of all the best Meth labs in her 'hood. Maybe she'll introduce us to her hate mongering preacher, and end up having beers on either the approach road to the Bride to Nowhere or that pipeline she keeps bragging about.
Why on earth do they need to pay her $1 mil per episode? Last time I checked, exploring Alaska was free. Hellllllooooo, Alaska doesn't belong to Sarah Palin, it belong to the U.S. Any 'claim' she had to the state she gave up when she resigned. I wonder if Discovery channel will be exploring all the meth labs in Alaska as well.
A rpogram highlighting her state...hmmmmm...should last about 7 seconds....
I assume it's only scheduled to run for a half season
Good for Sarah Palin, but wait I thought she was looking to be a representative of the common people? Seems to me Sarah is looking out for #1. I hear the second book deal is coming soon too. She has cashed in big time for herself, nothing wrong with that but please do not pretend anymore that you want to represent the working people. We all know this is not true, you just want to skim off as much as you can from a "mark" just like any good con artist.
I remember a time when "grifting" was illegal, today we call them politicians and insurance businesses.
That's just disgusting.
welcome to the reality world.....where have you been all this time?....hard to say, she does not know or have an answer
