Palin 'has been vocal about condemning violence,' aide says

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="An image on Sarah Palin's Facebook page featuring crosshairs on certain Democratic districts is causing an uproar ."]Washington (CNN) - Sarah Palin's team is fighting back against some Democratic claims that the former Alaska governor is encouraging threats of violence against members of Congress who voted in favor of health care reform.

Democratic officials and liberal Web sites are upset that Palin used an image of crosshairs in a Facebook post this week listing 20 vulnerable Democrats who voted for the legislation. She plans to target them this election year with money from her political action committee.

One House member mentioned the Facebook posting during a Wednesday meeting on safety concerns, a Democratic source told CNN's Dana Bash. Mention of the map brought audible groans to the room, the source said.

Democratic National Committee chairman Tim Kaine released a sharply-worded statement Wednesday night accusing several Republican leaders, including Palin, of inciting dangerous behavior.

"Republican leaders are themselves engaging in actions and rhetoric that previously would have been limited to fringe elements of the Republican Party," Kaine said. "Sarah Palin has invoked health care 'death panels' and has now placed gun sights on 20 Members of Congress who supported reform."

An adviser to Palin responded by pointing to several instances in which the former Alaska governor has urged supporters to focus their energies on civil debate and action at the ballot box - not extremist activities.

"We are now the keepers of an honorable tradition of conservative values and good works," Palin said at the national Tea Party Convention in Nashville last month. "We must never forget that it is a sacred trust to carry these ideas forward. It demands civility and it requires decent, constructive, issue-oriented debate."

The adviser also noted that Palin spoke out last year after the murder of abortion provider George Tiller in Kansas, writing on her PAC Web site that "violence is never an answer in advancing the pro-life message."

"Its good that she finally agrees with the Democrats on something," the adviser told CNN. "[House Majority Whip] Jim Clyburn said that silence equals consent, and in this matter she agrees, which is why she has been vocal about condemning violence."

Sen. John McCain, who tapped Palin as his running mate during his 2008 presidential bid, defended Palin's Facebook posting on NBC's "Today Show" Thursday.

"I have seen the rhetoric of targeted districts as long as I've been in politics, please," McCain said. "Any threat of violence is terrible but to say there that there is a targeted district or that we reload or go back into the fight again, please, those are fine, they are used all the time."

  1. Save America, impeach the treasonous republicans

McCain is a moron. I hope Arizonans give him a well deserved government retirement along with his taxpayer paid health care.

Goodness CNN is absolutely infatuated with Sarah Palin.

The crosshairs cause an "uproar" – with whom? The powers that be at CNN? utterly inane.

Treason! This lunatic is guilty of inciting hate crimes, and stirring up the severely uneducated. Several of the GOP leaders, as well as talk show personalities such as Hannity, Beck, Limbaugh, etc. Are also going to be held accountable for what is coming. If the extreme right continues to facilitate dangerous behavior, the backlash will make the race riots of the sixty's look small.

This is a stupid woman. She, and Glen Beck, and Rush(can't wait until you move to Costa Rica)Limbaugh are trying so hard in their rhetoric to get someone killed. They are so ignorant(or maybe they actually do know what they are doing) they are going to inspire some left wing Republican nut job to do their bidding. You cannot target people on a map with crosshairs from a rifle and tell people to "reload and not expect one of those ring wing Republican nut jobs to follow through. There are parts of free speech that are not protected and fighting words are one form. Does someone have to die before someone puts a stop to the three of them??? If you think for one minute that the ultimate goal of Beck and Limbaugh isn't the death of someone, you are not listening to their words. I just think she isn't bright enough to realize what she is doing.Look at the violence already happening.

I don't see that this is any worse than Nancy Pelosi carrying that super-sized gavel around on Sunday. I thought that in itself was a threat to any Congressman who was entertaining a "NO" vote for her health care bill.

Honestly, in all due respect, did anyone really expect anything different from Sarah Palin and her totalitarian Grand Ol' Plunderer (GOP) facist movement? Come on folks, give me a break !! The Grand Ol' Plunderers (GOP) solely want to rule the world, almost like the third reich had hoped for !!

She should be arrested for Aiding and Abetting. Sarah Palin rose to the level of "gutter" coupled with "dumb" when she stood on that podium campaigning for American's vote and didn't have the Decency enough to denounce Shouts from her Supporters to "KILL HIM". Since bolting from her job as governor of Alaska, she has "racket" up her "milita" attitude while "pouting" because America sees her a a "Big Loser". She has Used those Poor people to Pad her personal Bank Account, knowing full well she didn't and doesn't have the intellect or the ability to even lead a "Puppet" EVER. I as a woman find her "repulsive" and "Classless".

How does one interpret " do not retreat but reload".

Do we have to wait until someone gets hurt or worse dies before the leaders whom ever they are stand up and sate enough is enough and stop this behavior.

You know? If the people who founded this country a couple hundred years ago fainted at the sight of a gun the way modern Libs do, we wouldn't be here now.

Do any of these idiot Dems seriously think Palin is coming after them with her .50 cal M-4?

This is why former governor Palin left her office half way to make sure she would not be forgotten, make money and be as nosy as any body in recent times has been. All of a sudden she has the medicine for all the maladies that affect this country and she can threaten, insult, hurt and do and undo, she thinks she is cute and can get away with it ? Well.. let's wait and see at the end of two years, that seems to be her attention spam......

Oh man Democrats, this is a big stretch. I can see it coming now, time to find and demonize a common enemy so that we can scare people come November. Pathetic and sad. Democrats, a piece of advice, take it or leave it. Go home and spend some time with your constituents. And listen. Don't talk, just listen. Find out what is on their minds and start governing from there. Stop taking your votes and talking points straight from the White House. If you continue, you will be gone come November. Remember, you work for the people not the current Administration.

Please someone tell the republicans that they are in LALA land. These followers of theirs are racist and bullys. Look at the people attending these rallies and protest. They want to spit, carry guns and demean people to get their way. This is not the past we are fighting for, we are fighting Americas future. McCain and Bush shipped their jobs overseas. They should be mad at them. Sarah Palin does not know jack. This woman needs to go home and take care of her family. McCain is old and feeble. He needs to go get on Cindy's nerves now. This party does nothing but use it followers for personal gain and then forgets about them.

This is soooo typical of left-wing Dems. They ram through an unpopular health care bill in a unilateral & highly questionable manner, they gloat about it, and then when the wrath of the American people descends on them....they immediately blame someone else.

You see, it's never their fault. Haven't you learned that by now?

And since the Dems are a bunch of sexists, they target one of their favorite punchig bags: Sarah Palin.

Of course there is absolutely nothing on Palin's Facebook that comes anywhere close to advocating violence towards the Dems who voted for the health care monstrocity; the Dems know that all they need to do is to suggest that violence was implied, and all of their MSNBC-watching sheep will believe it 100% without question and repeat it ad nauseum, regardless if it's true or not.
