MSNBC host denies Senate run

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="'I'm not running against Scott Brown,' Maddow wrote."]

Washington (CNN) - An MSNBC host has taken a full page ad out Friday in The Boston Globe slamming Sen. Scott Brown, R-Massachusetts.

Rachel Maddow accuses the senator of making things up, and smearing her to raise money and, essentially, insulting Massachusetts.

In the ad, Maddow, who lives in Massachusetts, criticizes Brown for a fundraising e-mail that he sent out this week where he suggests she might challenge him in 2012.

"[B]efore I've even settled into my new job, the political machine in Massachusetts is looking for someone to run against me," Brown wrote supporters. "And you're not going to believe who they are supposedly trying to recruit – liberal MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow."

Brown's e-mail then takes a shot at the cable news host. "I just don't think America can afford her liberal policies," he said.

Brown cited an obscure Boston-area blog post from March 5 as the source of the Maddow rumors.

Firing back, Maddow wrote in her ad, which she also posted on her blog that Brown, "made that up."

"I'm not running against Scott Brown," Maddow wrote. "I never said I was running against Scott Brown. The Massachusetts Democratic Party never asked me to run against Scott Brown."

"It's just not true. Honestly. I swear." The cable news host added that Brown "never even tried to find out if it was true."

Instead, Maddow claimed Brown is smearing one of his constituents to "scare donors into giving him more money." Maddow said, to her, that feels like Brown is insulting Massachusetts.

Brown won his seat in a January special election to fill the remaining three years of the late Democratic Sen. Edward Kennedy. But he must face voters again, in 2012, to win a full term.

Scott you were doing great there at the beginning. Now you're just doing us.

You must've gotten the infamous "memo" from your brown shirt leaders at the GOP.

The passage of Health Care Reform has wiped off Scott Brown's rock star prestige. I now believe politics is like chameleon. No one should rely on it as it keeps on changing all the time.

To those who don't know who she is – she's a leading host with her own show on MSNBC. Has appeared on Fixed News also. She probably does more digging into her stories than anyone else currently on tv.

She has made it patently clear she is not running for political office.

This dust-up is due to Brown's using her as a scare tactic to raise funds, based on an vague comment that has no background to it.

As mentioned, she is a Rhodes scholar, and takes on Democrats, Republicans, or Independents that she finds saying one thing then doing another.

Ah, Rachel! Thank you for showing Brown to be the utter fool all of us have known him to be all along.

If only the tea baggers could get over themselves and their knee jerk reactions. Electing Brown was one of their more *knee jerky* mistakes. You, know, the old be careful what you wish for thing. I'm sure more will follow. . .

Meanwhile, it shouldn't take Mass to long to realize what a feather light Brown really is. He is helping the process in so many ways now.

Wow, the personal comments hurled against Rachel Maddow – calling her ugly, she isn't it all, and stupid, she's a Rhodes Scholar and incredibly bright – say some pretty gross stuff about the people insulting her. What are we. people, first graders hurling insults at each other, a la, "Oh, yeah, we'll you're ugly?" Grow the hell up. Spend some time with the average voter and maybe you too will begin to wonder about this thing called Democracy.

Daniel, i have to laugh, whenever the shoe is on the left foot they scream like a stuck pig, but when that shoe was on the right foot and the left was making all sorts of personal attacks on Sarah Palin i bet that Daniel just sat on his thumbs and never raised a voice of concern. Daniel is just like the left in this country, they are not consistent.

Do gays and lezzies have some kind of appeal as politicians in our present debauched society? Looks like all that behavior under the spotlight could revert back to the handbook of the past in this country where we experienced the Leave it to Beaver age. The US needs to put priority on people that will stand up for decent human behavior rather than that which one usually finds in the public toilet as the place where it should proliferate.

Intellectually speaking ... Brown wouldn't make a pimple on Rachael's derriere! One smart lady ... and Brown, well not so much in the smarts or integrity department, but he's just fine as a right-wing pandering pin-up-boy who makes Romney seem reasonable!

I must confess that as a lifelong conservative I requently watch her show as a way to stay balanced.

Although I certainly disagree with her politics I think she's very bright and entertaining. She'd probably make a formidable challenger to Brown and perhaps she should rethink running???

Rachel Maddow is great at pointing out politicians' BS. The reason she even brought up this subject is because the misleading information from Brown was put into a Fund Raising Letter. He's trying to get money from the right by scaring them into thinking someone as intelligent, and yes, l as liberal as Rachel might run against him! She's just pointing out his flaws..

Rachel, you are the best! Brown had no right to use your name, without even checking the veracity that you were considering running. Anyone with any real sense or knowledge of what's happening in the country respects your honesty and integrity as well as your fairness. Rachel, by the way, your show is great. Some of hese yahoos who are attaking you would learn a great deal if they watched.

I believe Rachel when she says she has no intention to run. Scott Brown is trying to capitalize on Rachel because she is the most intelligent and most threating person to the GOP, because she tells the truth and has great knowledge.. I personally wish she would run, we could use her tenacity and smarts.
