(CNN) - Former first lady Barbara Bush was released from a Texas
hospital Wednesday, four days after being admitted for a series of tests.

Doctors believe the 84-year-old wife of former President George H.W. Bush may have suffered a mild relapse of Graves disease, a thyroid condition for which she was first treated in 1989, according to a statement released from Houston's Methodist Hospital.

In response, Mrs. Bush's medication levels have been adjusted, the statement said. "Upon discharge she was alert, talkative and appeared to be getting stronger as she prepared to return home," it said.

Last year, Mrs. Bush underwent open-heart surgery, during which doctors replaced her aortic valve with a biologic valve. She spent nine days in the hospital afterward.

Doctors believe the valve "is working very well," the hospital's statement said.

In November 2008, Mrs. Bush underwent surgery for a perforated ulcer.

I hope Mrs. Bush recovers quickly and completely. She is a wonderful woman......loyal, confident, and down-to-earth. She came to Muscatine, Iowa for a kindergarten "graduation" ceremony many years ago. She is gracious and kind to everyone. And, I love the pearls.

Even a a democrat I will say that if members of both parties conducted themselves with the grace and dignity that this former first lady radiates our political system would be a lot more palatable...

I am wondering how much her stay in the hospital cost the taxpayers of this nation this time around . You talk about health care she gets the best our money can buy . talk about being on the dole what a life an all on the taxpayers dime

I hope you are feeling better, and that your health stays good for many years to come. I also hope that you were well covered with a good health care policy. I'll bet you wish the same for your fellow citizens ?

    Well thats just wonderful.

The unfortunate thing is that the taxpayers pick up the tab regardless of the Bush family fortune increasing 20 times over thanks to no-bid contracts.

I wish you the very best Barbara Bush.

Good news but wonder how much of he bill we the taxpayers picked up. See this is the problem. She has excellent coverage and I applaud that fact, but wonder what would have happened to this woman if she didn't have a pre-paid coverage. And her Graves Disease is a pre-existing condition, she wasnt denied coverage.

Too bad the hag didn't come out in a box. I just pray her malady is painful and that she suffers excruciating pain on her way out.
