Democrats raise money off of Biden's F-bomb

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/03/31/art.ofa.shirt.jpg caption="Organizing for America is using this T-shirt to raise funds."](CNN) - President Obama's political organization agrees with Vice President Joe Biden: "Health Reform is a BFD."

While using the four-letter word could land an elementary school kid in detention, Organizing for America is embracing it with the hope of raising some cash.

OFA, the president's political arm housed at the Democratic National Committee, is using Biden's now infamous phrase on a T-shirt to commemorate the signing of health care reform into law.

Donors who give at least $25 will receive "a limited edition 'Health Reform is a BFD' T-shirt in a super-soft, fine jersey (men's) or baby rib (women's) cotton fabric," according to a new fundraising page posted Wednesday on OFA's Web site.

A jubilant Biden made the remark after he finished introducing Obama before the president signed the landmark legislation last week. As he was stepping away from the podium, the vice president leaned in to Obama and said, "This is a big f***king deal."

A microphone picked up the vice president's comments. A short time later, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs wrote on his Twitter account: "And yes Mr. Vice President, you're right ... "

Now, OFA is comparing the signing of the health care reform legislation into law to other momentous occasions.

"There are things that are a big deal - birthdays, anniversaries, the NCAA Championship game," OFA wrote in a fundraising note. "And then there are things that are a BFD, like delivering health insurance to 32 million Americans."

Brad Woodhouse, a DNC spokesman, told CNN he thinks it is important for Democrats to highlight the importance of health care reform.

"Health reform is a huge and historic deal that will benefit American families and small businesses," Woodhouse said. "We and our supporters agree with the Vice President – health reform is a big bleeping deal."

This shows that the liberals have no class. How I yearn for a time like the 50's when people did show respect for society and could feel some shame.

  4. porked again but at least stimulated...

In an increasingly vulgar and profane world, it would be nice if people in these positions would conduct themselves in an adult and mature manner. And we're supposed to respect them? These are the role models our children are supposed to look up to? Pathetic.

    Fundraising???!!!
The bill is passed...why do you need to raise funds for it now?
Somebody is lining their pockets while lying to the BFD's (Big F Dorks) dumb enough to pay 25 bucks for this garbage.

I don't really care if he IS the vice president...no one can talk to the president that way, even if he means well. Aside from that he is not setting a good example for young people. I can't even take my little boy out for a walk without hearing everyone hurling the "F-bomb" as a verb, adjective, you name it. This society is becoming so coarse and jaded, from top to bottom.

They could make more money from it if they would put Obama's face, Nascar and "Git R done" logo's on it, and sell it at Wal-Mart.

Just another childish act by politicos. Neither political party has a monopoly on bad taste.

Who had this bright idea? Not a tee shirt I would buy that's for sure.

It's a disgrace to raise money off of this. One more embarrassment. Show a little class and set a better example for the little kids.

Nice marketing idea. Didn't the internal Republican memo just say that their donors are ego-driven and influenced by cheap trinkets?

Aside from that "raise money OFF OF" is bad English, appropriate for a monster truck rally but not for a national journalistic outlet.

Call me old fashion but BFD, really, I am a parent who is trying to buck the trend and teach my kids that respect is something that is important but no my respect to the dems who think BFD is ok.

This must be a GOP conspiracy to have open mikes all around Biden wherever he goes. I am tired of th eRepublicans doing stupid stuff like this. Is Limbarf and Palin behind this crap? Maybe it is Steele or Boner or Cantor or Beck or cheney?

GOP conspiracy. That is what it is.

This kind of 'tee-shirt' to commemorate the so-called health reform victory says so much for this administration. "Always operate from the lowest level of decorum and respect – quite appropriate for dirty politics and bottom feeders who exhibit the epitomy of juvenile behavior." What an example we are!! So sad for the country.
