Democrats raise money off of Biden's F-bomb

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/03/31/art.ofa.shirt.jpg caption="Organizing for America is using this T-shirt to raise funds."](CNN) - President Obama's political organization agrees with Vice President Joe Biden: "Health Reform is a BFD."

While using the four-letter word could land an elementary school kid in detention, Organizing for America is embracing it with the hope of raising some cash.

OFA, the president's political arm housed at the Democratic National Committee, is using Biden's now infamous phrase on a T-shirt to commemorate the signing of health care reform into law.

Donors who give at least $25 will receive "a limited edition 'Health Reform is a BFD' T-shirt in a super-soft, fine jersey (men's) or baby rib (women's) cotton fabric," according to a new fundraising page posted Wednesday on OFA's Web site.

A jubilant Biden made the remark after he finished introducing Obama before the president signed the landmark legislation last week. As he was stepping away from the podium, the vice president leaned in to Obama and said, "This is a big f***king deal."

A microphone picked up the vice president's comments. A short time later, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs wrote on his Twitter account: "And yes Mr. Vice President, you're right ... "

Now, OFA is comparing the signing of the health care reform legislation into law to other momentous occasions.

"There are things that are a big deal - birthdays, anniversaries, the NCAA Championship game," OFA wrote in a fundraising note. "And then there are things that are a BFD, like delivering health insurance to 32 million Americans."

Brad Woodhouse, a DNC spokesman, told CNN he thinks it is important for Democrats to highlight the importance of health care reform.

"Health reform is a huge and historic deal that will benefit American families and small businesses," Woodhouse said. "We and our supporters agree with the Vice President – health reform is a big bleeping deal."

Sounds like something a money hungry democrat would do....Start selling nasty talk and pandering to the "sleazy side" of folks. Just in case the senior leaders of the democratic national party don't realize it, most all 12 year olds know what BFD means, so why to encourage our kids to use that slang. Great Job!!
Why don't you concentrate on finding solutions to the immigration problem, or funding for Social Security and Medicare?
Why can't anyone in Washington act like a STATESMAN and get things done....instead of making off the cuff remarks picked up by an open mike. Way to go Mr. VP Big Mouth.

Repealing this unconstitutional law is a BFD too.
Washington, we are unhappy with you.

Biden's gaffe is a disgrace to the office he has sworn to uphold, and the Democrats profiting on his coattails are setting a horrible example of us to the rest of our world. While voting on the reconciliation Baucus was also disgracing the office by joking about sports scores when he was supposed to be doing his job.

Most people are centrist, and even tho they say they want change, they mean *gradual change*. Dems in the house and senate were supposed to reel the president in from his radical agenda - not the other way around.

I completely agree with Biden! It is a BFD!! Wish the mic wouldn't have picked up the f-bomb for potential negative publicity, but it shows we are ready to move forward as a country! Obama-Biden ALL the way through Jan 2017!

Thanks for alienating the 84% of us who worked hard for to find jobs with health insurace! Now our premiums go up and no one is gonna stop it!

I find it disturbing that our President, whether we voted for him or not, is going to associate his office with the use of BFD in this manner. Perhaps it is a stronger message to the people than he realizes Perhaps we taxpayers are being told in that three word phrase what our administration is out to do to us.

No surprise here. The party of no class, anything goes is turning profanity and lack of couth into money to begat more no class.

Yes – it is a BFD.

Also, it's a quick rebuttal to anyone who claims "Obama hasn't done anything." This is something roughly the previous 12 presidents tried and failed to accomplish. 13 tried . . . 1 succeeded. That's doing something.

With that age and in that position, using that language is not acceptable and now is trying to talk around about it. These politicians are too low.

Yes, by all means celebrate the new tone in Washington with the VP happily swearing near the microphone for all to hear while all democrats and the media lapdogs yuck it up together. . Then let's have all the democrats raise money on that wonderful new tone in Washington where foul language is celebrated if it comes from a democratic speaker but vilified if it comes from a republican or even a young man who finds the example set by the US VP is less than acceptable. When CNN prints almost 95% of its moderated comments to berate and ridicule a young man who said he didn't like it, we an see why CNN's ratings are falling drastically along with the esteem of this administration.

How utterly uneducated and is simply devoid of any morals, decency or even plain old common sense. So typical of obama and the demoncraps – no class at all! They say they are so worried about what our children eat – maybe they should be more worried about what type of garbage these useless demoncrap politicians are feeding the minds of our children.

Do they have kids' sizes too? Come on, lets just go as low as we can with this, right? Lets trash/gutter talk on public TV representing the most respected positions in the USA, Biden. I mean, when I was in 3rd grade maybe, I learned that words like F#&@ where a sign that you had a limited vocab. A sign of total ignorance right? 3rd grade. Nice way to expose your unprofessionalism. How old are you Biden?

I'm from Canada, and therefore not able to contribute.... but, boy, I really would love one of those t-shirts. Way to Go President Obama (and Joe Biden – I'm 71 years old, and think I've heard the word before)... Sometimes enthusiasm is manifested with the expectation that you're not being taped.

Passage of your health care reform signals that our neighbours DO want to care for their fellow citizens. and that... in this age of nasty politics is a B.F.D.

This is what we have come to- supporting the vulgar language that Joe "foot in mouth" Biden used! He is one of the many high ranking officials. He shouldn't be using language like that- especially if it is going to be picked up by a mic- remember Jesse Jackson's comment about Obama?! The U.S. is going down the tubes- thanks-Demo-rats!!
